General repairs on roof and particularly to counteract water penetration in bedroom. Problem seemed to be solved but we still had some water penetration and Kay’s we’re back within hours to assess the situation and a few days later made time to get to the root of the problem and fix it.

Alan and David have now done three pieces of work for us. The latest was the removal of an old garage which had an asbestos roof. Alan arranged all the necessary with the third party contractors who were removing the roof. As always he was great at communicating with us too, ensuring that we knew exactly what was happening, when and what was needed. Alan and David took the block work down and as always left the site spotless. This pair have an eye for detail, they are great craftsmen and totally trustworthy and reliable.

We had a blocked down-pipe on a double-height building. The blockage caused cascades of water on to the walls during heavy rainfall.
Mr Kay attended despite having a heavy workload and worked hard to clear the blockage but was unable to do so on the first visit. He returned within days and spent a considerable time on the job which eventually required the removal and replacement of some cast-iron piping.
I would have no hesitation in recommending the firm of W H Kay.

David and his team were recommended to me and I am very happy with the service. David came round immediately when I phoned and fixed two bad leaks. He then came back and did some remedial work so that I shouldn't have any more problems in the future. I was very impressed with his prompt help and the price was very reasonable.

Steading refurbishment. replace rotten window with new. Cut out rotten wood on 4 doors, replace and treat with preservative. What was falling to pieces is now good for several years. They quickly assessed what was required, kept us informed of the lead time before start and competed the work in the estimated time & price.

I had 5 internal doors renewed and work done in my kitchen. New worktops,sink and tap,replacement sink unit and new drawer unit and shelving unit installed and replacement upstands and plinths.

Alan and David arrived on time every day and worked like beavers while they were there, working to a very high standard and great attention to detail. Their work ethic is second to none. I would recommend them to anyone .

Utility room refit & annual roofing check

I had my roan replaced as it was leaking and also a repair to my patio doors. I have been using W H Kay for over 25yrs, they have built two extensions for me and I would not hesitate in recommending them to anyone. What you get is 5star service from start to finish.

My cupola was leaking and I needed a company with lead experience. David Kay turned up as arranged and completed the repairs quickly. They cleaned out and checked the general roof area then sent photos showing the before and after state of the roof. A job well done. Thanks.

W.H. Kay installed a bifold door and two patio doors at our property in September 2019. The work was structural and was carried out in accordance with plans from both the architect and structural engineer. From my experience with W.H. Kay on this job I cannot recommend them highly enough. I first spoke to Alan 4 months before work began. He came round, asessed the job, answered all my questions and then emailed me a quote. He gave me a date on which work would commence (which turned out 4 months later to be the very day upon which he arrived to start work). In that 4 month period we must have exchanged around 20 emails - Alan was always quick to respond with answers to queries/slight changes to plans etc. - most times I would receive a response on the same day. Alan and his brother arrived on the Monday morning to start work and were there for a week - all day, every day. As the job went on they would give me options as to how I wanted things done rather than just pick the one that was easiest - I wanted the threshold of the doors to be close to floor level rather than a step up which meant cutting into the concrete cill at the bottom of the house. They just said no problem, fired up the stihl saw and got on with it. The end product is stunning, solid as a rock - just a great job all round. Both Alan and David are friendly, approachable, hard working and best of all they seem to really care about the job they are doing. I've had experiences (like most people) with builders in the past ranging from ok to down right crooks - W.H. Kay are by far the best builders I've ever had the pleasure to deal with. If you need work done and are lucky enough that they have space in their schedule - hire these guys!

Garage roof needed replaced after 35 years. David advised on best type to get and sent us a quote which we accepted. Aim was a non-maintenance roof to avoid future painting. David and Alan carried out this task over several days in December 2019. All existing roof, timber facia and gutters were removed and a couple of new roof beams installed to replace rotten ones. Three layers of felt were laid on new roof deck as well as uPVC fascia around roof and new guttering. New garage door was also ordered to complete project. Delighted with finished job. David and Alan arrived when they said they would and cracked on with the work. Would certainly recommend.
