Storm Arwen caused damage to our property including displaced and damaged slates and guttering.

With concerns about safety and with water getting into our property we were so relieved after spending days trying to get someone to carry out a repair (due to demand at this time) when David and Alan stepped in.

Despite being extremely busy and having the extra hassle of getting scaffolding and permit for this in place they kept us updated, came at agreed times and worked very hard for 2 full days to complete the repairs. We feel the work was carried out to a high standard.

We would definitely use WHKay again and recommend to others.

Excellent service

Roofing repairs were assessed and a quotation given promptly after contacting the Kays. The work was carried out as soon as Covid restrictions were lifted. The work was done thoroughly and efficiently.
Some extra work was identified and completed on the day.
We have used this trader before and would recommend them on all counts.

This was a relatively large job involving considerable internal alterations to our cottage (new partitions and doorways, converting a lounge to a kitchen, installing a new showroom, creating a new bedroom, moving a fire place, building up an external doorway). David, Alan and Andrew are a friendly, conscientious and hard-working team and have done an excellent job finished to a very high standard. It has totally transformed our house. Communication throughout the build was excellent and the costing was very transparent (i.e. no big surprises at the end!). I would thoroughly recommend them and would certainly use again.

I cannot rate the boys high enough, it makes a change to meet someone who excels at what they do.

(1) The work that was carried out was to replace a broken down pipe, supply new down down pipe with all the fittings, then fix to the wall.

(2) Repair a broken gutter with a new section of gutter, and seal.

(3) Adjust down pipe by lifting up to meet the existing outlet and secure to the wall.

Wow, all I can say is 5 stars are not enough for this company who I will be using again.
David & a colleague arrived at the designated time & worked on, getting as much done as possible before taking a couple of well deserved breaks.
They did a remarkable job of replacing old door frames & fitting a new door for me, as well as making a superb new garden gate from scratch, with a working latch & bolt.
And as if this wasn't enough, they also took away all the rubbish, which is hugely important when you can't to do that yourself.
In addition to this they were both friendly & tidy workers who cleared up after each process.

Excellent workmanship. Willing and flexible. It might not have been the biggest of jobs but we felt valued as customers.

Cracks and holes in the lead flashings were sealed and repaired. Coping stones were recemented. Broken slates were replaced. Leaking cast iron gutters were stripped, cleaned resecured and sealed. All gutters were cleared.
I was recommended Mr Kay by a neighbour. The service provided was second to none. They remained at my property until all the work was completed. I will be approaching Mr Kay for any and all future roofing maintenance and would thoroughly recommend him to anybody.

Very impressed with every aspect of our communication and contact with David and his brother. We contacted them as they were local traders in Pencaitland; I like to use local suppliers and traders where possible. We had a number of minor roof repairs to be carried out. David provided a quote and I suggested that as the work was minor, I was happy for him to fit it in between other jobs in the next few weeks - which he agreed to. I received a call about 3 weeks later to say that he could come round the following day and would that be ok? The work was carried out cleanly and quickly. We agreed that gutters could also cleared out - which saved me a job. The job came in on quote, and it was convenient that we were able to make our payment via BACs. Very happy with all aspects of the work and the communication. We would happily recommend to anyone else looking for a reliable local trader.
