Newtown Renovations refurbished and draft-proofed our sash-and-case windows, fitted engineered flooring in the hall and provided a highly experienced joiner for a week or so to carry out numerous repairs on our A-listed flat. We are delighted with the quality of their work and their professionalism, especially their can-do attitude and the fact they would periodically call us to make sure we were happy with the work. We would definitely use them again and recommend them to others looking for a good quality, reliable builder in Edinburgh.

We have contracted Newtown Renovations twice to renovate and draft-proofed most of the windows in our flat. When they did the windows at the back of the flat we were so pleased with the quality of the work and the customer service that when we could afford to get them back to do more we did.

We intend to get them to come and do the remaining windows soon. They were courteous, did things when they said they would, came in on estimate and on time and cleaned up after themselves.

We had our sash and case windows replaced in order to benefit from double glazing and improved insulation. The windows are excellent quality and an exact match for the Georgian / Victorian originals. In the past two years Newtown Renovations have designed and installed a new full kitchen, incorporating all relevant trades, along with new PVC front and back doors. The quality of all of the work was first class and excellent value for money as compared to other firms who were priced at the time for both jobs.

Throughout all of our dealings with Newtown we were very impressed, the nature of the work and associated disturbance, time scale etc, was accurately explained and we were very comfortable with the Tradesmen during the time they spent at our house.

They are now our preferred choice for related work and we have had no hesitation in highly recommending them several times since to family and friends.

We used Newton Renovations for a full refurbishment of the front door of a tenement flat. This included joinery, painting and fitting of new ironmongery. We are extremely happy with the completed works - the door looks fantastic. I would highly recomend using Newtown Renovations. They have completed an attic conversion for us and we absolutly love it. They have been very good at communicating with us throughout the work, explaining any changes that needed to be made, and when tradesmen would be in the house. All the people in the house were respectful and nice, and did their best to clear up after each day. They were understanding of everyday family life (as we have two small children under 3). The work has been completed to a high standard and quality. We would definitely use them again for other projects in the future.

Newtown Renovations completed work in my flat in a timely and professional manner. I plan to hire them again for our next project. They stepped in when I had been let down by another company and fully delivered. Jonathon and his team carried out joinery, painting, and decorating in a sitting room and completely redid a cloakroom WC, which required painting, joinery, plumbing, tiling, plastering, etc. It was very convenient to have all of these tasks handled in house. All members of the team were professional and friendly.

Jonathan and his team at Newtown Renovations did a really great job for us carrying out renovation works to a flat in a listed building. Work included roof repairs, stone work repairs, replacing a damaged window lintel, replastering, insulating, electrics, decorating and installing new high spec timber sash windows (City Council approved).

Jonathan coordinated the work, kept me informed and brought in extra trades as required whilst providing sound advice and keeping to budget. The standard of work was excellent and I have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending Newtown Renovations.

Jonathon and his team came to fix work done by a previous builder (that we had sourced from Which? reviews) that had left us with plumbing leaks and buckled floors. Jonathon was punctual from the initial quoting phase, and his team mirrored this all the way through the job.

They had to redo the entire bathroom - stripping it back to the bare brick, and then reinstalling everything, alongside replacing the bath with a shower tray and moving the shower heads and installing a fan. We were particularly apprehensive about the tiling, as the work by the previous builder had been so inconsistent. However, all of Jonathon's team were diligent and precise.

The floors in the corridor and both bedrooms also had to be removed and reinstalled due to incorrect installation and a plumbing leak caused by the previous builder. I was impressed by the team's attention to detail, especially with our bespoke soundproofing underfloor materials.

They had to re-plaster a kitchen wall as well. Again, they were quick and got it right first time.

Finally, they also did some bespoke joinery - mainly a new set of wardrobe doors in the main bedroom, but also the front door and internal transitions. The materials and work was always done to a high quality.

Jonathon regularly came around to inspect the work and make sure we were happy. His office team were also checking in on a weekly basis.


In terms of snagging there was almost none, but of the small bits that needed fixing, they were attended to quickly and remediated properly.

After a stressful year dealing with a poor tradesman, Newtown Renovations was a refreshing business to work with, and I want to make a special shout out to Campbell, the project manager on our job, who was always ready to go the extra mile to make sure we were happy, he is a credit to the team.
