We have used this firm for years and always found them reliable and honest about what can or cannot be done.
Last week I found a puddle of water on the floor with a steady drip coming from the bottom of an adjacent radiator. I phoned the firm at about 9am and spoke to Ewan MacGregor - by 4pm on the same day, the radiator had been replaced. The following morning, I had a call from Ewan to make sure that no further problems had occurred (the system had needed to be drained and refilled and the boiler repressurised).
I thought all this was exemplary service, esecially considering their backlog of work post Covid lockdown.

My boiler broke before Christmas and couldn’t get anyone out despite having no heating and hot water. Following the festive break I contacted the company and within a day they were out to quote for the work. After being appointed Euan was brilliant getting things arranged, and within a week of having contacted them I have a brand new working boiler. The team have been great throughout the whole process and would definitely use them again.

J & E MacGregor's engineer replaced one faulty thermostatic radiator valve. I noted the time the engineer arrived. As he left, I remarked that I was glad the job had only taken thirty-five minutes. I had been informed house calls were charged at £65.00 + VAT per hour. The invoice I received was £89.00 + VAT for one and a half hours' labour and £32.00 plus VAT for the thermostatic valve, which I later found could be purchased at Screwfix for £18.29 including VAT. I complained to Mr Ewan MacGregor who explained that their company vans were fitted with a monitoring system and calls were priced according to the amount of time their van was parked at a customer's address. I was offered a thirty pounds discount, which I accepted, but since I am not happy with this means of charging, I won't be using the company again.

I used J&E MacGregor to install a new boiler for my central heating system. They discussed my needs, explained what was required, gave me a price and installed the boiler in time to allow me to move into my new house. Throughout, they were courteous, helpful, reassuring and prompt. I recommend them warmly.

First class. Their engineers turn up when they say they will, know their job, work till the tasks are finished and tidy up after themselves. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone who asked me.

This trader carried out a basic plumbing repair to my WC. Half an hour after the plumber left there was water all over the floor. There is no out of hours number for this firm so from 4.30 on Friday until 8.30 on Monday it is not possible to contact them to tell them of a problem. We had no WC for 5 days. The fault was fixed simply by putting in a seal that should have been there in the first place. In contacting the firm to query whether any discount had been applied to the invoice they clarified that did not charge for the second visit but the flatly refused to accept that there had been anything wrong with the work carried out the first time. No apology for inconvenience. No discount. Most annoying the refusal to admit that a mistake was made. Very poor customer service and sloppy work.

A prompt and efficient service was provided.
The emergency was rectified in 15 minutes.
