Business Information
At J & E MacGregor Ltd., we aim to provide a reliable, friendly and quality service for all types of plumbing, heating and gas, throughout the Edinburgh area.
From minor maintenance and repair through to complete kitchen, bath & shower room refurbishments. We can also supply and install a wide range of gas fires, along with aftercare maintenance and servicing.
We also carry out boiler servicing, through to full boiler and heating system replacements, and can provide free estimates for these projects. We can also carry out Landlord Certification, if required.
We use only fully trained and qualified engineers to provide our service and are established members of SNIPEF, the Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering, SEPA, Safe Contractor and The Gas Safe Register.

Serviced my gas fire.
Pleasant engineer, proper protection, covered shoes and made sure area was covered before he started. Stripped out the fire, cleaned thoroughly. Smoke test - changed the batteries, put it all back together, again tested in all the different stages, tested the quantity of gas in the outside meter. Explained everything along the way., very interesting and thank you. Office staff very pleasant too.

Any work undertaken by J &E MacGregor has always been to high standards whether it be a boiler check or actual plumbing works.
Recently I had maintenance work carried out on a number of fittings in the house….new taps, new radiator, bath fittings and Mr Euan MacGregor provided advice and help and came to assess what needed to be done. The quotation was very reasonable, agreed, parts ordered and a date set. The plumber who undertook the works, Gabrielle was a friendly soul and got on with the various jobs to be done which sometimes had their challenges. His attitude was “where there is a will, there is a way” and he was resourceful getting all the jobs done.
Gabrielle was also very tolerant of our very interested family pet dog.

There were operation problems with a Saniflow toilet, this was investigated, adjusted and tested. Now working satisfactorily.
Pricing seemed fair and the service was both professional and friendly.

We have used MacGregor's for many years, to service our gas boiler and radiators, and for plumbing in the bathroom. They have been unfailingly reliable - punctual, clean and tidy, high standard of work and fair prices. They have also saved us money by giving us good advice. We recommended the firm to friends, who also thought they were great!

A small repair was done to replace my leaking mains stopcock. Came within 36 hours and did the swap quickly. Smooth process to issue the invoice by email, which suited me, with options for online payment or payment by bank transfer. Good advice on the phone during the first contact.

Gas Fire failed on Christmas Day. Contacted J& E MacGregor just after new Year and they came at earliest opportunity. Very helpful engineer fixed the problem and explained other options. Very reasonable cost.
