New consumer advice helpline - 0808 164 6000

2nd April 2019

From the 1 April, a new consumer complaints and advice helpline has taken over from the previous Citizens Advice Scotland helpline. The new number is 0808 164 6000, a freephone number which is free to use on both landlines and mobile phones.

The new service is branded as consumeradvice.scot and is the online identity of Advice Direct Scotland, who are an independent member of The Scottish Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux. The consumeradvice.scot website holds a wealth of information relating to consumer issues and advice.

As with the previous Citizens Advice consumer line, consumeradvice.scot advisors will be able to give you the correct advice to help resolve your complaint, and if required, issues will be referred to your local Trading Standards team.

If you are an organisation that previously advertised the Citizens Advice consumer line, can you please amend your records and ensure you are advertising the new 0808 164 6000 number.

As before, if you have a complaint with a Trading Standards Trusted Trader, then raise a complaint with the relevant Trusted Trader Scheme, details can be found here; Reporting Traders to Trading Standards. For all other complaints, contact consumeradvice.scot.
