I'm sorry that it's taken me a few months to write this review but we had a very poor experience with the company. To be completely fair, Malcolm is a very nice, efficient, thorough and reliable man. But he put a young guy on our job who just didn't seem especially interested or skilled enough. We had our exterior woodwork done and, at the price quoted, I expected a good quality job. Instead we had paint rings left on our floor tiles, have paint flicked all over the sills, bits were left undone and the guy had to come back after he was finished, several of the windows are painted shut and we have rough edges and a bit of peeling on a number of the frames. Clearly, lots of other people are really happy with the level of service Malcolm's company provide so I'm guessing this was a one-off but disappointing nonetheless.

Was moving house early in the new year and so required the work to be done over the Christmas period. Malcolm's team were impressively hard-working.
Malcolm is very knowledgeable and happy to provide his opinion and advice.
He probably wont be the cheapest quote out there, but he knows his stuff, is trustworthy and reliable, and uses premium eco-friendly products. Worth it for the peace of mind.

Excellent service, good communicator, excellent preparation and finishing.
Not the cheapest estimate but good value for money. Good to have around, takes a pride in his work and has excellent contacts with support tradesmen such as joiners/glaziers.

You'll find cheaper quotes but you won't get a better quality job. My living room cornice, ceiling, walls and fire surround have been painted perfectly. I am pain-in-the neck fussy so if I'm delighted it's saying something. I have no qualms about recommending Malcolm.

The service Malcolm provided was friendly and professional, with some good advice on products to use and colours. I am delighted with the end result and the hassle free service provided. I will certainly be using Malcolm in the future for decorating - long gone are the days of DIY!

Malcolm painted my hall (walls, ceilings and banister). The quality of the work was absolutely excellent. Old holes in the wall were filled in and these have completely disappeared leaving a great finish. Malcolm was also very reliable and professional, quickly responding to any queries. I would highly recommend this trader.

I am really happy with the work that Malcolm and his team have done in my living room and kitchen. Malcolm is easy to contact and is a great communicator who takes pride in his business and rightly so. Michael, who was assigned to my home, was always on time and quietly went about his work all day. He made a beautiful job.
While the works were quite expensive I would admit that it was definitely worth it and I am already planning on getting Malcolm and the team back later this year for my hallway.

This is the second job Malcolm and his team have done for me very recently and once again I am absolutely delighted with the outcome. Always turned up when expected and nice and early each date and just got onwith the job. Cleaned up when they finished at the end of each day. Another excellent job done by the team from Malcolm Bell. We had a number of rooms decorated. I often think how hard is it to paint a wall, but when it is done by professionals such as Malcolm Bell it just looks a different class, than had I tried to do it myself. The job included painting ceilings, walls, woodwork, papering and addition of coving to several rooms. The job is excellent and definitely a standard I could never achieve. The team are all excellent to deal with and respectful of your home and what is important for you. Best of all they take care of your home and leave it as they found it. Highly recommend, whilst not the cheapest, I firmly believe that it is worth paying just a little bit more to know the outcome will be long lasting. I can't imagine we will need to redecorate for a very long time. Quality of products recommended and supplied were first class and plenty of options were made available to me. Very grateful for an excellent job.

I got part of the exterior of my house painted. I'm very happy with the quality of work which was done. The painter turned up when he said he would and was courteous at all times.

We had our walls and bedroom radiator painted (including panels), marble island re-sealed, backsplash re-tiled, radiator replaced and new valves placed. We had an excellent experience. Malcolm is easily contactable and well organized. All jobs were done to a high standard and we are thrilled with the end result. Also, every tradesman that came to our home was professional and kind. I couldn't rate more highly on quality of service and reliability. I have and will continue to recommend to our friends.

Very high quality work and good communication and advice from Malcolm throughout. Dale who did the work turned up on time everyday and all work was carried out in tidy way and to a high standard.

Had most of our house redecorated by Malcolm and his team. There were some tricky aspects with the wall papering, feature walls, high ceilings and hidden doors but the end result was stunning. Work completed quickly, and you wouldn't even know the painters had been in - the clean up was spot on. The cost was as agreed, and contact with Malcolm was regular and helpful.

Malcolm and his team transformed our dated bay windows and surrounding skirting board from a dark wooden varnish to a matt white finish, ensuring any imperfections in the wood were improved prior to painting. The communication was excellent from start to finish and we were extremely happy with the end result and wouldn't hesitate to use him again for any other decorating work we need. Entire two bed, two bath, flat decorated including all walls, ceilings and woodwork. Excellent job. Took slightly longer than we anticipated, but this was due to being meticulous and was worth the wait.

Top quality work. Excellent communication turned up when they said they would, polite and left the place clean and tidy at the end of each day. I would definitely use them again and would recommend them to others.

In two phases over the course of 2022, Malcolm and his team completed the redecoration of most of our Victorian semi - including the internal staircase and walls reaching up to the 2nd floor cupola. Malcolm was happy to work to our timings involving other contractors, so there was a logical order for things being done. The craftsmanship was excellent. The team is friendly and professional and will listen to any concerns and suggest solutions. As other reviewers have noted, the team pays great attention to getting the preparation of surfaces right so the final papers and paints can show their best. And if the client or the team are not happy with how something has turned out, it gets redone.

Something really important, too, is how Malcolm takes on new apprentices to learn the trade from the ground up - really good to see this happening.

I got in touch with Malcolm for a small job to wallpaper a feature wall. The work was carried out to a very high standard. The prep work was very thorough (two fills and cross lining) and the wallpapering was very good. I am delighted with the high quality of finish. Liam did a fantastic job. I would definitely use Malcolm and his team again.

Malcolm was straight with me from the start. His was not the cheapest estimate but I wanted a good job, done well and that is what I got. He was asked to paint all detached house exterior walls and woodwork and his team did a great job despite the atrocious 'summer' weather. He went the extra mile getting some dodgy roughcast and rotten woodwork repaired so that it could be painted. The preparation of the areas to be painted was great and the guys tidied up every day. He was easy to deal with, kept me up to speed on when they could be onsite(terrible weather) and never got annoyed when I phoned him. I don't live in the property but could trust him to get on with the job even when I was away on holiday.
