Jason turned up at the time stated, he was very professional and polite, inspected the roof, carried out the job in question and we have agreed to use him again to inspect another property.

Once again I am very happy to recommend Jason and his team.
The gable wall had storm damage, causing a couple areas of harling to be lost.
Jason promptly answered my email,came to check what had to be done the next day and work started soon after. This included organising scaffolding to allow safe access above the garage.
As usual Alan and Frank who carried out the repair,did a great job. Keeping me updated.All debris was removed and my drive left clean.
The scaffolding was taken down within a couple of days.

Recent galeforce winds led to an emergency situation for me. Part of a skylight had ended up lying in a flower bed in my back garden, and the rain was getting in to my loft. When I contacted Jason (having had work done by him a few years ago), he came the next day, put a temporary cover over the hole, and advised that all I needed was to order new glass to be set into the original cast-iron skylight frame. As previously, Jason was very courteous and helpful, and this time, he even refused payment for his visit. The result: he has set my mind at rest, and given me the pleasant experience of dealing with a charming and really kind person. He remains top of my list for any future work.

We needed roof slates to be replaced, and a gutter re-aligned. After I left a message, Jason called me back the same day, and visited the next. He sent on the quote on the day of the visit. Alan and Frank completed the work over two visits (afternoon, and first thing in the morning), and left the area very tidy.

We have used GW & JS Construction on a number of occasions eg for chimney repairs, leaking roof round a velux, and found them to be highly professional and efficient. They are also very responsive, polite and courteous, even offering free advice and signposting during survey visits if the problem does not require their services. We have used this company for roofing and construction issues for a number of years and would highly recommend them.

This is my second time using GW & JS Construction Ltd for a roofing issue. Had a leak with an old conservatory roof right at the join of the house roof that was only going to get worse. Contacted Jason who had dealt with a roof issue in a previous property from a few years back and it was nice that he remembered me. We discussed the issue and he came round prepared with all the relevant tools. Jason was able to mend the potential issue the same day. He showed me the damage and repair with before and after photos and explained what was repaired and realistic expectancy of the repair. We discussed potential options with the existing old creaky roof which will really help with long term decisions.
I am absolutely delighted that there was no fuss, no mess and that I was able to use Jason’s services again as I was so impressed with the professionalism the first time. Complete piece of mind.

This is the second time I have used GW & JS Construction for chimney stack repairs and have found their guys to be courteous and helpful. I suppose with roof repairs only time will tell but my overall impression is that the quality and workmanship appear to be excellent. There 6 week lead time was adhered to which was also appreciated.

The guys worked so hard in seriously unforgiving weather and did so without complaint. The workmanship looks great to me and I've been pleasantly surprised with how straight forward arranging the work and getting it paid for was. I’ve used roofers for years but have finally found the best firm in Edinburgh. The service from them was excellent, having sorted all of the agreed damage plus a little more on closer inspection. My flat roof extension had started to leak so it was stripped back, insulation added and re-felted. There was some rotten wood underneath so that was all replaced as well.
Experience was very straightforward from timely quote to doing the work. I was kept informed throughout.
Guy and Wayne waited until there was a dry day to open up the roof which avoided any issues with rain coming inside. All mess was tidied up and roof looks great.

I'm very happy to recommend Jason and his team. They quickly identified faults with the chimney stack and rear guttering, both were leaking badly.Through photographs I could see exactly what needed done, this was discussed clearly with me and backed up by detailed estimated e mails.
The work was carried out as soon as possible. At all times my e mail was answered promptly. I never had to worry about anything.
Once finished the steps and patio were swept clear of all debris created and I was shown what had been done.
This was especially important as the house is owned by my elderly Mum who doesn't cope with repairs or tradesmen.

Absolutely delighted with the installation of a porch roof light to replace the faulty, leaking roof light installed by cowboy roofers last year. It was not a simple task, but every detail has been done meticulously and apart from looking good, it is completely watertight. Guy kept me informed at every stage ensuring that I was happy with his solution. He even did some additional work at no extra cost. The men turned up on time and site was left tidy. Jason's professionalism and honesty were obvious from when I first called about the leak in our roof. He was able to come round the following morning, arriving early, identified the broken tile and replaced it. I would highly recommend GW & JS Construction Ltd and will definitely call Jason if I even need work done in the future.

We had multiple leaks coming through a newly purchased property, Jason was quick to come back to us, and promptly visited the property. After investigating various parts of the roof, Jason identified the issues, with pictures he took whilst on the roof and reported back with a plan of action. We had our lead flashing fixed around the dormer areas of our property and chimneys re-harled. Both Allan and Frank worked their socks off to complete the works, they communicated throughout on what had been done, Jason regularly visited site and kept us up to date on progress throughout. Everyone was friendly, professional and easy to deal with. The property was always left tidy upon finishing as well. We've been battered with poor weather recently and we have no sign of any more leaks! I would happily recommend GW & JS Construction Ltd to others. Massive thanks to Jason, Allan and Frank for sorting our roof!

Jason and Guy carried out the work on my mum’s property to a high standard. We were kept informed of progress throughout and provided photos of each stage of the job. They were polite, reliable and a pleasure for my mum to have around. Any communication was clear and prompt and we couldn’t recommend them highly enough.

Company worked out the problem very quickly and professionally, reharling chimney etc and replaced slates. Chaps were there when stated, carried out work efficiently and within time, cleared up after themselves. From start to finish were really approachable and all reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend them, in fact have already passed their phone number on.

We moved into a property which had a new roof put on approx 15yrs ago. We noticed a very small leak coming in a trap door and we rang the guys who got back to us straight away and came out to us within a couple of days. Quick inspection and the source was found and sorted there and then; at no extra cost. Superb customer service and efficiency. Would highly recommend.

Jason responded and came swiftly to fix a leak in our garage roof. He happily resealed open joints in the existing covering (rather than suggesting an expensive replacement like others had done). After a few months a small leak reappeared and, again, Jason responded quickly, this time fixing it there and then the day after I emailed him! The icing on the cake was being told there was no charge because all their work is guaranteed for a year! Excellent service, thank you!

Excellent felt re roofing of 60 year old double garage with pitched roof. Replacement of only necessary woodwork. Fitting of gutters and down pipes and fascia boards. Kept us well informed of any changes to scheduling etc. Good customer service. The team were clean and tidy as the work progressed and removed all waste. It’s been several months since the work has been done and the roof has been subjected to all the weathers. All joints and seams tight. Definitely recommend.

Remedial corrective work carried out following poor workmanship of neighbour's recent full roof re-state by their very diabolically unskilled roofers which had badly impacted my roof at the adjoining part of the roof (semi-detached property) on both the front and rear of my property, in addition to around the chimney apron lead work.
Jason and Alan are very professional, efficient and pleasant to deal with. It was immediately obvious upon meeting them that this company takes their work very seriously which was very reassuring (especially given the distress our roof issue had caused). This is clearly a very professional company and from experience, it can be extremely difficult to find roofers like this. Jason and Alan discussed with me what needed to be done and the job was completed with the greatest of efficiency. The site was cleared and no mess was left. Not only does my roof no longer leak, but it now looks as it should. I really can't recommend GW & JS Roofing enough!

Guy came to inspect roof at my property and quoted £250 + vat which I accepted in writing. No date was given for the work as advised not urgent and Company would contact me in due course.
Last Tuesday evening I received a surprise email advising two workers had come to my home and completed repairing/replacing slates on roof. They charged a further £150.00 + vat stating there was more work required, but no details on the invoice. Neither my wife or myself were at home so they proceeded to enter my property and carry out work without permission.
I have now managed to agree a compromise with Jason that the additional charge would be reduced to £75 + vat bringing total due £390.
I would not deal with this Company again.

I have used GW&JS Construction Ltd several times over the past decade and have always found them to be efficient, trustworthy and professional. Jason, one of the Directors, kept me fully informed throughout the process responding promptly to any queries, often within just a few hours.
The team arrived on site as planned on the first day and set about their work diligently namely taking down two chimneys and retiling the voids all of which was completed a day ahead of schedule. The site was left tidy throughout and I was very pleased with the end result. I would have no hesitation in recommending GW&JS Construction Ltd and will certainly use them again for any future roofing works.

Quick to come out and quote for work. Turned up on time. The workmen on site were always very polite and easy to deal with. Very neat and tidy, site was cleared up every evening over the 8 days. Had dry ridge and verge system fitted with old tiles and mortar picked out and removed, house looks far neater and better for it. Sub contractors turned up the day after roof work complete to remove scaffold and skip. Overall very impressed and would recommend.

The job was to install around 11m of new flashing between house and flat garage roof and some felting work. They demolished redundant chimney, repaired leaking roof and cleaned and repaired gutters and drain pipes.
There were some problems, which can be expected with a job of this size. They returned twice to complete remedial work and quickly dealt with all problems, without any hassle. I am very happy with the end result and they were easy and straight forward to deal with.

Following water ingress to the house, Jason & Guy undertook roof repairs which included slate replacement and moss/algae removal on the main roof, along with the complete replacement of a flat roof on the porch. The porch task also involved heightening the porch roof, to allow rainwater to more efficiently drain into existing guttering. The result is fantastic, with the entire porch looking brand new! All aspects of the work were undertaken professionally and with respect to the existing property/garden area. Jason & Guy were punctual and, importantly, reliable. They are a credit to their profession and I have no hesitation in recommending them for roof repairs. I would certainly contact them again in the future.

We had a potentially damaging water leak from a skylight in the attic. We were provided with a pair of quotes to remedy the issue. One a straightforward repair and a second for a repair and replacement Velux window. We chose the latter. The work was carried out smoothly and efficiently with no disruption to daily routine. During the work several additional tiles were identified as damaged. We agreed to their replacement at additional cost. When the final invoice arrived this cost was minimal.
We were advised at every stage of the works and all workmen (including the scaffolders) left the area clean and tidy on completion.
No hesitation in recommending the company, and (should the need arise) would have no hesitation in calling them again.

After heavy rain I experienced water pouring through my roof to my ceiling. Jason attended and dealt swiftly with an immediate fix around my dormer where the problem was. The full repair was organised on a date of my preference with the cost estimate becoming the actual cost. Helpful approach throughout with full explanation at every stage. Repair to chimney and new gutters. Quote given very reasonable. My aerial looked very shaky and they recommended an aerialist look at it. I made the call and aerialist arrived and on inspection he could see it was completely broken - been up for more than 40 years - and showed me faulty wiring and mast stand hanging by a thread so new one replaced.
New gutters painted inside and out. Chimney pot very loose and whilst repairing it the guys also noticed 2nd chimney not so good so repaired that also at no extra cost. Guys were very friendly and work went very smoothly.
All in all job well done!
New gutters painted inside and out. Chimney pot very loose and whilst repairing it the guys also noticed 2nd chimney not so good so repaired that also at no extra cost. Guys were very friendly and work went very smoothly.

This is the second job I have used this company for as I was so impressed the first time. The service and their communication is second to none and the workmanship cannot be faulted. Really nice guys too. We have just had our rhones, downpipes and facings prepared and painted. Some companies might have gone ahead and painted them despite the cold weather but they were honest enough to let us know the consequences should they have carried on. I asked GWJS to check our roof for possible leak and to give me a quote. Jason came early in the morning and did his inspection. He found out that the window on our attic needs sealant applied. So he went back to his van and got his tools and ladder. He resealed the sides of the window and did not charge me for it eventhough I insisted to pay. I noticed some watermarks on my ceiling so called GWJS to come inspect my roof and to provide a quotation. Jason arrived on time and after his inspection he noted some minor crack on the chimney which is where he thinks the water is getting into the roof. He applied a sealant to the crack and didn't charge me for it. He also helped me sort out a slipped tile while he was up on the roof. Jason was very friendly and polite. I contacted them back in Feb 2016 and they did a great job of sorting my leaking roof. All of the team were very polite and competent. They certainly know what they are doing. I had a small blockage in the pipe which caused the water to soak the kitchen carpet during the night and I called Jason who came down and within seconds discovered the pipe was partly blocked and did the job there and then. Jason has done work for me before so I had no hesitation in contacting him when water marks started appearing on my en suite ceiling. On investigation he found the the problem was the extractor tubing which had come away from the outlet and was filling with water. Jason reattached the tubing and secured it to a rafter to avoid a repetition of the problem. He then refused to charge me for the work.

I phoned GW&JS Roofing after discovering some issues with my pantile roof. Jason from GW&JS came round quickly and went over the roof thoroughly. He took numerous photos and showed me the areas that required fixing - mainly cracked roof tiles. I decided to go ahead after receiving a very reasonable quote. Within days Jason was back round and all my roof tiles were fixed/replaced. Again, photos were provided (something I consider to be very important given I can't normally validate this sort of work myself). I highly recommend Jason and GW&JS. The quoted price was extremely good and very reasonable. The standard of work is second to none - the pre and post job photos were hugely helpful. Wouldn't hesitate to use Jason again.

GW & JS Construction came round very quickly in response to my request for a quote. He carried out a detailed survey of my house and showed me photos of areas which needed work.
He supplied a quote the next day and did not pressure me in any way to proceed with this. We obtained quotes from two other firms for the same work which were 50% and 90% more expensive!

GW & JS Construction carried out some work to overhaul a large area of flat roof on my property. Extra care was needed to maintain the existing insulation and the job was perhaps a bit more tricky than expected for this reason. Despite the job taking slightly longer as a result, it was completed within a reasonable timescale. We contacted Jason following a recommendation and asked him to clean our gutters and paint our fascia. Jason came round himself the next day to assess the job and appeared very professional. He promptly supplied a detailed and clear written quote by email. A week or so later two of his workers came to do the job. They were also polite, friendly and professional and the work was completed quickly and neatly. We then received an invoice and were able to pay conveniently online. We had our garage roof replaced in August, Jason was very quick to contact us, provide a quote and arrange a date for the work. It was undertaken to a high standard and finish. Where issues emerged the workmen were quick to rectify them. Following completion of the work the drainage leaked slightly - this section couldn't have been tested at the time and when we contacted Jason it was fixed quickly and without question. Used GW&JS to replace the small flat roofs over two victorian dormers, replace fascia boards with plastic-faced boards for low maintenance, replace zinc gutters on sides of dormers, and check-over pitched roof section and replace broken/missing slates.
Removing the old flat roofs was a lot more work than thought. The old bitumen was firmly stuck to the roof deck.

Everyone at GWJS Roofing was extremely helpful. Delighted with the service and the quality of the work and would highly recommend. A relative (who is a Surveyor) was impressed with the attention to detail and appreciated being kept up-to-date with progress and technical details. The photos provided by GWJS were very helpful in this regard. I finally have a watertight roof after other contractors could not fix it. Everyone was punctual for all appointments which was much appreciated.

I was recommended to use GW & JS Construction Ltd, and I found Jason, Guy and their team to be very professional. As a layman, I found that they were able to communicate very effectively about the problems I had experienced with roof leaks affecting my top flat. The work carried out was very tidy, and they appear genuinely concerned to solve long-standing problems that I have experienced. As a result of my first experience of using them, I intend to employ them to do an annual visit to check the roof of my tenement. I would recommend them without hesitation.

The estimate for the supply & fitting of a new sun tunnel was fully detailed and provided promptly. As the work had to be programmed to follow other trades on site, we found GW & JS very cooperative and flexible in agreeing a convenient start date. When starting the work it was discovered that to an incorrect component had been delivered. Although this delayed completion, the work was immediately re-scheduled and completed without any inconvenience within a couple of days. The personal involvement on site by Director Guy Wright provided reassurance that the work was executed correctly and to our entire satisfaction. I would have no hesitation in using this firm again or recommending them to others.

These guys are entirely reliable... I first used them because I needed someone in a hurry. They were able to fit me into an already busy schedule.
I have since used them for emergency repairs to a leaking window at our commercial property. They are nursing a rather worn flat roof and undertake regular maintenance.

This firm was instructed on behalf of all the proprietors in a block of six dwelling houses / apartments in connection with roof repairs (including slating and rainwater goods): down taking of chimney to roof level and installation of cortex flues, erection / downtaking of scaffolding etc, and repair & maintenance of mutual pathway and staircase including ground works. All the work appears to have been carried out in a satisfactory manner. This may be vouched by one of the proprietors who himself is a civil engineer. A pleasing aspect of the service provided has been the prompt and courteous manner in which queries have been answered. In addition; the attention provided by the firm , after settlement of invoices has been conducted quickly and in a friendly manner. As far as I am able to judge this is a highly professional firm which takes pride in its workmanship, courteousness and professionalism. From my experience I would have no hesitation in instructing GW & JS again nor in recommending the firm to others.

This company stepped into what turned out to be emergency repairs of our Church Roof. The full extent of which was not discovered until slates etc were removed. They then provided advice and a new quote for the work that would now be required and set to getting things moving immediately. They worked well with us and kept us advised at all times.
The Apse Roof is semi-circular in construction and not straightforward but their Tradesman worked away constantly, always on site and always working. To my eyes and others I have spoken with the job looks superb.
The site has been left in a very tidy condition.

Friendly, professional and easy to use service from an excellent company. Staff are always very helpful, taking the time to explain anything I don't understand.
A reasonably-priced quote was sent very quickly with full photo documentation on what needed repaired and why. Because I had asked several different companies for quotes, it was very reassuring to know that GW & JS Construction are on the ball with providing accurate photos and quotes as soon as they can.
I'm very happy with their service, and I'll be using them again in the future.

I've used this company several times now on two properties I own, and never been disappointed.
Each time I've had reliable quality work, done to the agreed schedule, at a fair price (the quoted price), and courteous staff.

We used this company for roof work and repairs. Their communications were very good and the standard of workmanship was also good. They worked well to the deadlines agreed despite problems with the council regarding erection of scaffolding and they finished the work on time.
I would not hesitate to recommend this company in future.

He then e-mailed the quote (which was much more satisfactory than others) and gave me a choice of dates. The works were completed well within the timescale and to a very high standard. The workmen were very polite and efficient and tidy.
