I had an old wooden front door replaced with new white pvc door it looks amazing and is more secure, also had old wooden single glazed dining room window replaced with a double glazed pvc one which looks great.

Double glazed traditional sash and case windows fitted to 7 windows of second floor tenement flat. I was very impressed with service of City Glass. Right from getting a quote to installation. Everything went smoothly - the quote was clear, my queries answered promptly and the installation team, Dale and the boys, were great - very quick and efficient. They were installed in a day and a half and on the date agreed. I'm extremely pleased with the windows...they have made such a big difference to my flat. Its warmer and quieter and they look great.

Can I take this opportunity to say what a great job the guys did when fitting the windows. They were polite and took the time to discuss what they were going to do before starting. They didn't stop working the entire time they were on site. What was also nice was that I didn't hear any swearing or shouting even though it was a difficult job due to the wall and building construction. Over all it was a professional installation. Although it was a long lead time from order to installation, the office staff were spot on with dates and we were able to plan around the install date.

We had City Glass replace all the windows in a tenement flat we purchased. It included large bay window plus odd sized other windows. The job was done on time, to a high standard, they cleaned up after themselves, and no extra costs. I wasn't left with any joinery or issues with the mouldings/surroundings of the windows, despite the age of the property.

Replacement double glazed units with integrated blind in my French Doors. This will be the 3rd or 4th time I have used City Glass and I have never been disappointed

City Glass installed 7 windows, French doors and composite front door.

Concerned about the quality of the installation I employed Greg Adams to complete a survey of the installation. Greg Adams has BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying and is a Fellow of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors 2014 and Fellow of Chartered Association of Building Engineers. He has 16 years practical experience of all aspects of Building Surveying with particular in relation to building pathology, condition related aspects of buildings, workmanship and building disputes.

The following are extracts, in verbatim, from his report:
My initial inspection of the window and door installations revealed sizeable gaps between the newly rendered ingoes and lintel soffits to the door/window frames, which is unusual for a property that is undergoing window and door replacement combined with new rendering. Review of the apertures externally and then internally revealed that the gaps were in my opinion resultant from the new frames being undersized within the aperture
As an example the rear patio doors at the jamb location was noted to have a gap internally of in excess of 20mm, where 5mm would be a normal tolerance if installed to the reasonable standard to be expected of an ordinary competent contractor exercising reasonable skill and care. In essence the patio doors are 30mm short in width to the aperture.
A 45mm gap was evident at the head of the entrance door filled with PU foam, outlining that the door unit and side glazed panel is undersized.
Various non-compliances were noted during my inspection, with evidence of corner fixings located too close to the external corner and a lack of fixings to sills and heads.
It should be noted that large gaps leave the window and doors installations vulnerable to failure in relation to weather tightness whilst compromise the thermal capabilities of the installation.
In conclusion, I am of the opinion that the window and door contractual works fall below the reasonable standard to be expected of an ordinarily competent contractor exercising reasonable skill and care. Specifically and of most concern in my opinion, is that the manufactured sizes of the windows have not been correctly measured to suit the aperture resulting in excessive gaps around the frames. Further issues were also evident to the contracted works including the frames being set forward and not bridging the vertical DPC as would typically be expected whilst inadequate fixing arrangements were also noted.

To resolve this matter I had to employ a solicitor as City Glass initially refused to replace the windows with correctly sized units. Then, they offered to replace the units but requested that I sign pre-installation agreement taking responsibly for sizing the windows, which was refused. They then requested that Greg Adams supply the dimensions. Again this was refused.

Finally, I requested a refund and sourced another company to install Rehau units.

I contacted Alan for an urgent repair to my 90 year old mother's double glazed front door-she was struggling to lock the door, which caused concerns for her safety. My Mum lives in Edinburgh and I'm in Dundee so was unable to help at short notice. However, when I called the number listed at 20.50, Alan answered and he said he'd visit her the next day. He called me the next day and said he'd be at her house at 12 ish and could I let her know as he didn't want to worry her with a stranger call. He arrived when he said he would and fixed the lock- taking no payment as it was 'only a loose screw'. He was considerate, kind and reassured her to call again if she need help, this type of service is priceless and I can not recommend City Glass UK highly enough. Thank you so much Alan you have epitomised that there really are good guys out there and you are truly a trusted trader. Once again thank you from my Mum and I. Dawn and Chrissy Kirk.

I needed to get four windows replaced. I asked around a few tradesmen for price estimates and CityGlass came to see the property, and offered a very reasonable price, by far and away the best value for money. They booked me in as soon as they could, stayed in contact with me, and came exactly when they said they would. They did an excellent job, were done within the day, and left the place looking as clean and as tidy as they could.

We had our full flat re-glazed: 3-section bay window and bedroom window (PVC double glazed sash and case), a further bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and utility (PVC double glazed tilt and turn) and a new back door (PVC with stippolyte glass panel).

The customer service from Di at City Glass was fantastic. Always helpful on the phone and communicative via email about progress. We'd had our measurements taken, placed our order and paid a deposit right before lock down started but the team at City Glass handled the situation extremely well.

I'm really pleased with the quality of the glazing units themselves and after a couple of snags around the surrounding woodwork finishing, Dean came out to finish the job and it's all looking great now.

I would highly recommend using City Glass, in fact, we've already gone back to them for quotes on an internal skylight replacement which we intend to proceed with.

City Glass advised on replacing 2 leaky tilt and turn windows (above terrace doors) with a "Stormguard" double unit made by Nordan.
There was about an 8 week wait for the unit to be manufactured but it was certainly worth the wait as we now have water-tight windows which have been well-tested during several prolonged periods of rain since the installation.
The fitters are skilled at what they do and very pleasant with it.
We would use this company again and have no hesitation in recommending them to others.

City Glass installed secondary glassing on 5 windows in our flat and we are very happy with the result. They were friendly, reliable and cleaned everything up after finishing the job. We especially liked that they didn't send one of those sales people that would try to talk you into buying their most expensive product. Instead they sent someone who understood what we were looking for and took measurements right away. Highly recommended!

City Glass replaced all 10 windows in my flat. I am extremely happy with the results. All the tradesmen working on the job were very professional and answered any queries I had. They always cleaned up after themselves before they left for the day.

Cannot recommend City Glass UK Ltd enough! Phoned and spoke to Alan on Saturday 25th May a Bank Holiday Weekend regarding a glass repair. He assured me that he could have someone come along today Tuesday 28th to assess and make the repair. Stevie came along this afternoon and did a brilliant professional repair job at a very reasonable price!
I don’t live in Edinburgh so it is quite daunting to try and find someone friendly, reliable and trustworthy when it comes to repairs.
I looked up Edinburgh Trusted Traders and found City Glass in their contacts.
So glad I picked them!

Recently had a large bifold door intstalled by City Glass UK Ltd. They have done a very neat job, the door is excellent quality and works really well. The fitters were extremely good as it was very difficult to get such a large frame into the property but they managed it and it was installed quickly and very tidily.

Top floor flat, 4 window units replaced.
Two workmen arrived promptly, I left them to it with instructions about keys, securing the two cats and left my mobile number to contact me when job completed. All went smoothly and the flat and stair left clean and tidy. If it wasn't for new windows I would hardly know they'd been there! Very pleased with product and the courteous glazers.

Despite a hitch that caused a two week delay to completion we are delighted with the service received. Przemek and Nicos were excellent workers, extremely courteous to us and to each other. Happy to have them work in our home in future.

This is the second time we have used City Glass to install Secondary Glazing and would happily use them again. The fitter (whose name I can't recall - sorry!) arrived on time and fitted the windows speedily. The windows fit perfectly and have made such a difference - hardly any sound from the busy road outside!!

City Glass has installed 5 new double-glazed, sash and case timber windows for me, replacing 40 year old single-glazed windows. I couldn't be happier with the overall service, the standard of the work and the high quality of the windows.
The fitters were friendly, polite and efficient, tidying up well behind themselves, and didn't bat an eyelid at the awkward position of one of the windows (above a toilet and a bath).
The office staff helped me out by organising for the first 2 windows to be done before the winter, and then the other 3 in the spring, which helped me to spread the cost.
Over the winter the difference was very obvious on cold mornings, because the new windows had virtually no condensation on them (99.9% clear), in marked contrast to the old windows which were running with condensation!
The sound-proofing is excellent too and they are a dream to open and close now, including swinging the lower half in to allow for cleaning.
This company was originally recommended to me by a neighbour, and I will now happily recommend them to others myself.

We chose City Glass because one of us had actually previously had a good experience with them at work and we always like to support smaller local businesses when possible. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a bad decision on our part.

Replacing one window eventually took 5 months and 5 separate visits, each where we had to get time to work from home etc.

The first visit they came with the wrong window completely (we had originally asked for a quote for two windows but decided to only go with one for the time being due to finances and with clear communication about this they still ordered and brought the wrong window).

The second visit they came with the right window but wrong handle (the fitter said this was a common occurrence) and the glass was scratched.

The third visit a young director of the company came and replaced the handle and checked the glass to confirm the scratch but in the time between visits we had found that the window hadn’t been fitted properly and was actually letting in a draft and he confirmed this was also the case and fixed the issue while he was there.

The fourth visit they replaced the glass with another unit that had even worse scratches in the glass.

The fifth visit was the young director again, Dale, who had been out on the third visit and in both our meetings with him we found him to be good and cleaned up after himself etc. He installed a good glass unit and the window which was ordered in November was finally installed properly in the last few days of March.

At every point in the process we were always chasing them despite them saying they would get in touch when the window/handle/new glass came in. We would call a couple of days after the timeline they had given us had expired and get responses like, “Oh I meant to call you about that yesterday.” We were willing to overlook the first couple of mistakes and lack of communication but after that it just became a huge inconvenience and a bit of a farce. My boss must have thought I was at it with the amount of times I was asking to work from home for this one window.

Other annoyances were telling the fitter to either take his shoes off or wear foot covers for the carpet and then finding him walking about on the carpet with his boots on.

There were some apologies but these were always followed up by blaming their suppliers. I would point out that suppliers didn’t order the wrong window in the first place or the wrong handle and they didn’t fit the window incorrectly either. When the glass arrives with City Glass from their supplier they could then check it for scratches before bringing it out and wasting everyone’s time…especially when there had been so many issues.

When they sent the invoice through after their fifth visit I was quite surprised to see that they had taken no money off the original quote so I queried this saying that had I known it would be such a hassle I would have not thought the price quoted was good value. They got back to me and blamed their suppliers again saying that was the price. Doubly surprising seeing as they have a wrongly ordered window made to measure for my bathroom which we may have taken at a later date had they made things right. Not to mention all the other windows in the house which will need done over the next few years.

Very pleased with the new double glazed wall and sliding patio doors. Stripped out old glazing and replaced on first day and came back the next to finish off plaster work. Such a difference compared to the old single glazing! Only issue was the wait for their supplier to deliver the glazing.

Ordered 11 large, custom-made hardwood windows which were expertly fitted and completely satisfied my requirements. Only quibble was the lapse time between placing order and completion. Expectation was 12 weeks but actual was more like 16.

Can't recommend city glass enough. From start to finish their service was efficiency and professional. I had them in initially for a custom glass splash back and after being very impressed with the results had them return to fit a bespoke bath panel. Once again i was very impressed with the result and now have had all doors and Windows fitted with the addition of French doors to the rear of the house which previously weren't there. Overall very impressed and over the moon with the work done.

City Glass UK fitted a large (3.5 x 1 m) double-glazed horizontal rooflight in a copper surround. This is very heavy work. (1) They contacted me to tell me when an expert would be sent to quote for the work. (2) They kept me informed about the construction of the panel. (3) They consulted me about exactly when it should be fitted, co-ordinating with a skilled roofer to deal with the copper fitting.
The planned morning turned out to have a sub-zero temperature. Seven men worked for four hours to remove the old (damaged) unit and insert and seal the new unit, finally cleaning up both outside and inside the room. It was a very tidy and expert job, much appreciated.
I had contacted several other firms but the others were unable to undertake this sort of specialised work.

Very happy with city glass. They replaced a wooden cupola with a double thick Perspex dome and they made a brilliant job. We used City Glass UK Ltd to remove and replace the windows on our house including front door and two sets of French Doors. From start to finish they were fantastic.
