Investigation and repair of roof leak tracking to bedroom ceiling. Following identification of the source, rotten felt and tiling battens were replaced with new and all moss and debris cleared from tiles, joints and gutter.

This is the second time they have worked on the house first time they repointed the roof, this time the gutters were cleaned and 2 broken tiles were replaced on the roof.

We've been having our windows replaced over time, as and when we can afford to do it. This time we had our patio door replaced. The work was finished to a high standard within the day. All the facings are very neatly finished, mitres are perfect. The external finish is neat and tidy too. The UPVC door seems to be a high standard and we're very happy with it; a big improvement over the door that was replaced - we noticed the difference in the warmth in the house the first evening. After the work was completed all the rubbish was taken away and the work area cleaned and vacuumed. David is great to deal with - we'll continue to work with W H Kay for our window and roof repairs as well as any other building jobs around our home.

David did some pointing work for us and, unlike several other roofing companies contacted, turned up and carried out the work. In addition the pointing blends in well with existing pointing unlike some done on our neighbours’ roofs. So we are very pleased with the work and will definitely contact David again for roof repairs.

Rotten wood at bottom of a pair of french doors. David and Alan cut out rotten wood and inserted new . All given a coat of preservative and left ready for painting. Very tidy workers and removed all waste leaving my property clean and tidy.

This company came to our rescue very quickly and sealed every thing up ,awaiting material to complete the task.

Had Alan out took at some work needed to repair/replace some guttering and downpipes and general roof maintenance - replace slates, pointing work. Arrived promptly as usual and provided a clear assessment of what needed done and (I thought) a fair price. He duly contacted me a few months later and he and another worker came out and completed the work in the course of a day. Turns up when he says, does a good job and charges are reasonable. Storm Arwen caused damage to our property including displaced and damaged slates and guttering.

With concerns about safety and with water getting into our property we were so relieved after spending days trying to get someone to carry out a repair (due to demand at this time) when David and Alan stepped in.

Despite being extremely busy and having the extra hassle of getting scaffolding and permit for this in place they kept us updated, came at agreed times and worked very hard for 2 full days to complete the repairs. We feel the work was carried out to a high standard.

The work involved replacing about a dozen ridge tiles on both my roof and garage. The work was first class in every respect and Davy and his brother are obviously very good tradesmen.

We had damage to our roof caused by Storm Arwen. After being let down by our insurance company I tried to find roofers to fix the damage. We left messages with various firms who never returned our calls and a company who said they would look at the damage but never turned up. I found W H Kay on the Trusted Trader website. David spoke to us about the damage, gave us a quote for the work and fixed the damage within a week. The work included removing and replacing a damaged ridge cap and reinforcing clips. He returned our phone calls and emails and turned up when he said he would. We are very pleased with the work and would definitely recommend him.

Following storm Arwen in November 2021, we suffered damage to the pantiles on our roof. In several places, tiles had been displaced and broken and there were gaps allowing ingress of rain.
At very short notice considering the widespread damage in the area, David and Alan Kay arranged to come and check the roof and repair where possible.
This they did and spent several hours up ladders removing broken tiles and replacing those with salvaged tiles.
We have now used the company over many years for various tasks and have found them to be excellent workers and would have no hesitation in recommending them.

Our kitchen roof was in a bad state after storm Arwen. A neighbour recommended David so I rang him on the Sunday lunchtime fully expecting to get a voice mail since I recognised demand for roofers would be massive! David answered, discussed the damage and after I mailed photos had sent me a quote by mid afternoon - amazing given the circumstances. Even better was he rang me on the Monday morning to say his first job he'd had to cancel as there was no power so he was on his way. Really efficient and will do their very best to help you out. They came and promptly fixed the broken parts with much better quality materials and did a thorough inspection and fixed any other damaged parts. Our pantile roof was overhauled and repaired as required. Some additional work arose on investigation and they were happy to attend to that while on the job. They did a good job and were careful with the building (newly decorated). Some tiles were replaced or cut, gutters cleaned, fascia board repaired and colour matched pointing applied as necessary. We had two windows fitted recently. The quality of fit and finish is excellent - far better workmanship than similar windows we had fitted by a "door to door" seller a couple of years ago (the windows were almost identical, but the quality of fitting is far superior in every respect). Small roof repair done the same day that I first emailed, excellent service, very helpful and polite, further repairs to be undertaken later in the year.

First time I've used David and Alan and won't be the last. They completely overhauled our cottage, putting in a new Howdens floor and kitchen as well as installing a brand new back door. From start to finish they were professional, efficient, helpful, clear in their communication, and good value for money. My only hesitation in recommending them is that they'll be too busy the next time I need help!

Removal of cracked iron downpipe and replacement. Very happy with the work undertaken - before David arrived the area that the pipe was in and surrounding drains was in a poor state. Following the work it's completely transformed. Not only was new case iron pipe installed but existing loose drain covers fixed in place, and loose tap fixed to wall.

Alan and his brothers work has been exceptional. They are very professional, trustworthy and great value for the quality of their work. Alan helped me get the project off the ground in every way - from discussing the pros and cons to my ideas, ensuring that I had East Lothian Council permission, coming up with cost effective plans when small hiccups occurred, as well as answering my numerous emails/ texts along the way quickly and calmly. I had non-structural work done - the knocking down of two walls, installation of bi-fold doors, new ceiling in dining room and hall, installation of vestibule.

We have had our front door area replaced. We were very happy. Time keeping was excellent and Alan communicated to us what was happening as he worked. They were clean, tidy and precise.

Annual roof check and replacement of slipped and fallen slates. The guys are great at prioritising what really needs done and what can safely wait. Communication about timescales is always very good as is the quality of work carried out.
