Alan and his co-workers re-sealed my shower after a small leak caused water to show through on the ceiling below. Previously, I had arranged a local plumber to complete the work but he failed to show on the date arranged - VERY annoying!
Alan was very dependable, staying in touch by phone/text and coming when he said he would. I found him friendly and courteous, and the job was completed to a high standard.

We had an internal boundary wall repaired in our conservatory (damp issues). Afterwards, they arranged the plastering and this work was also completed to a very high standard.

General roof repairs and maintenance (long overdue). Alan and his team/family are a pleasure to do business with. In particular, he communicates his plans, giving plenty of notice of when he anticipates doing the work. He then turns up as promised. He provides clear and frank feedback on the issues/faults identified, and options for their remediation. The team arrive early, work a long day, taking very strict coffee/lunch breaks, and then clear up afterwards. Indeed, they are very tidy workers. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending them.

Very impressed with every aspect of our communication and contact with David and his brother. We contacted them as they were local traders in Pencaitland; I like to use local suppliers and traders where possible. We had a number of minor roof repairs to be carried out. David provided a quote and I suggested that as the work was minor, I was happy for him to fit it in between other jobs in the next few weeks - which he agreed to. I received a call about 3 weeks later to say that he could come round the following day and would that be ok? The work was carried out cleanly and quickly. We agreed that gutters could also cleared out - which saved me a job. The job came in on quote, and it was convenient that we were able to make our payment via BACs. Very happy with all aspects of the work and the communication. We would happily recommend to anyone else looking for a reliable local trader.

Replacement of 3 upstairs windows and deep windowsills and one set of French doors.
David is extremely friendly and helpful, as are the guys who attended with him to carry out the work. On each visit, from the quote to final installation David arrived exactly when he said he would. The work itself was carried out to an exceptional standard.
Whilst replacement of the upstairs windows was in progress it was noticed that our guttering was leaking, so they also carried out repairs as required.
Prior to leaving, the guys ensured that everything was clean and tidy.
We would definitely use this company again, and wouldnt hesitate to recommend to others.

Realignment and maintenance of double glazed windows and doors.

Four new timber internal doors and two timber windows replaced.

The work included repairs and fitting new panels to a Victorian front door, fitting new door furniture, fitting new vestibule door, fitting new etched glass to 2 fanlights and vestibule door, building cupboards and panelling the vestibule, applying mastic seal to front door & hanging a very large mirror.

I had a leaking conservatory roof. David Kay called within a few days and carried out an assessment and temporary repairs.

Removed old wooden fence panels and posts. Dug new holes for new posts. Supplied and erected new posts and boards. Refitted two existing gates and removed all old material.
A first class job undertaken by first class tradesmen. They were always organised and arrived when they said they would. Were polite and friendly. From first quote to completed work we were totally satisfied. This is the second time we have used this trader and would have no hesitation to recommend to others. The weather at the time was not too kind but the work carried on without complaints from the tradesmen.

We've had David and his team out a number of times working on our roof. They're way the most diligent and reliable roofers we've had (and we've had a few!). They've done various pieces of work for us ranging from cleaning gutters, replacing slates, and investigating/fixing a mysterious and persistent leak which numerous other roofing companies readily gave up on. We highly recommend and wouldn't go anywhere else for roofing work.

From the moment Alan came round to do the quote on a Saturday afternoon, we realised he was a professional who took his job seriously. He climbed onto the roof and checked the roof and chimney and removed lose debris from the broken chimney pot, even before he knew he had the job! We got quotes from W H Kay for roof repair and moss removal, new uPVC windows throughout our property, a velux window, new guttering, new dry verges and insulation works. We got Alan, Andrew and David to do all the work as their quotes were reasonable and they get really good reviews. They really are a very professional family team, notified us whenever they were running late, worked hard and kept us up to date as to what they were doing and whenever any additional issues arose during the work. We got them to fit two curtain rails as well. We won't hesitate to use them again for future work and would recommend them to anyone!

David built a shelved cupboard into an alcove as well as quoting for replacement windows. The result of the work is excellent quality and exactly what was hoped for. He is extremely friendly and helpful, and his response time to requesting a quote and to carrying out the work was very fast. This was a relatively large job involving considerable internal alterations to our cottage (new partitions and doorways, converting a lounge to a kitchen, installing a new showroom, creating a new bedroom, moving a fire place, building up an external doorway). David, Alan and Andrew are a friendly, conscientious and hard-working team and have done an excellent job finished to a very high standard. It has totally transformed our house. I have had Alan to come to my property to do two similar jobs. He replaced concrete sills. On both occasions Alan arrived when he said he would and worked hard to complete the jobs. The first sill was in an extremely bad state and when he came to assess the job he removed dangerous parts of the sill and sealed it without payment or any guarantee of getting the job. Found him to be very reliable and would definitely use him in the future.

Alan and his colleagues fitted a sun tunnel to illuminate an internal bathroom. They did an excellent, professional job and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again and to recommend them to others.

This was the first time I had used W H Kay and was thoroughly impressed with all aspects of the work undertaken. I had several quotes one of which claimed I needed to renew my whole roof surface.

Alan examined the roof and roof window and gave me an honest assessment. They turned up promptly, carried out the work with a minimum of disruption and kept me informed throughout the process. I found Alan extremely courteous and pleasant to deal with and will not hesitate to phone him for any future work.

To remove all bathroom ware and set aside for refitting; to supply and fit new toilet pan; to repair leaking pipe under floor causing the damage; to lift all damp and wet flooring and floor joists in toilet area; to supply and fit new treated floor joists and new 22 mm treated chipboard flooring all glued and screwed; to reinstate all bathroom ware and shower screen; to strip off damp plaster at door and wall in bathroom and hall and re-plaster with damp proofing cement and plaster over.

Extras - to remove all joists and supply and fit new timber joists to all cast guttering at front of house; cut bolts off clean out joints; re-seal and re-bolt.

Also, remove old Perspex from sun house and supply and fit new laminated glass and various beads. Also, to remove plaster inside bathroom and plaster with damp proofing cement and plaster over.

Removal of chimney, complete refurbishment of dormer, re-do cement flashing on second chimney, new zinc ridges, replace significant sections of fibre roof tiles, fit GRP dry verges to both sides of gable, internal plastering and external harling, various minor improvements: Small team working very efficiently together, excellent technical knowledge and workmanship.  Very conscientious.  Highly recommended for small to medium works.

Roof repair to office on Tranent High Street.  Identification of cause of water egress after storm.  Replacement of cement flashing between our building and neighbouring empty building.  Also repairs to 'scotch' tiling: Required scaffolding at rear, some of it in neighbouring yard.  Required negotiating with contractor working on neighbouring property.

Re-point ridges on dormers.  Clear moss from ridges on dormers and house roof.  Repair any loose or missing cement along ridges of roof.  Repair/replace loose/damaged tiles.  Clear valleys and water gates from foliage: Excellent job.  David and his team were very prompt, courteous and clean workmen.  Did the job on time and within estimated timescale and cost.  Would use again and recommend to others. Roof looks so much better.
