Alan attended to urgent roof and gutter repairs with a temporary repair during the festive period and then returned in early January to complete the permanent repair and undertake general maintenance on the main roof, the extension and outbuildings. The work was carried out diligently on the listed building and represented good value for money.

We had repairs carried out to a leak in our dormer just before Christmas. Although the firm was clearly busy, they managed to fit us in and carried out the repairs. They showed us the work they had carried out and what they said made sense. No further leaks. I have now asked them to replace an internal glass door.

We needed some very old doors replaced and some other doors eased to fit. There were also several door closing mechanisms to remove. This is in a very old house where no job is ever simple and all the doors were on a squint. There is no such thing as a right angle here!
The work was planned meticulously and the doors they supplied are excellent quality. They look great, and it has made a huge difference for a really great price. Furthermore, the guys fixed a loose footplate and sorted out a badly damaged door architrave where a lock had been gouged out by a previous occupant some point in the past, without extra charge.
I highly recommend this company and will return to them again when more joinery is required here.

Helped with repairs to my door. Although the could not completely fix the issue due to bad initial installation they made big steps to do everything they could to help, were reasonably priced and gave me good advice.

David and colleague removed an old flue from our flat roof, following a change from oil fired heating to all electric. They sealed the hole with bitumen and also covered the hole in the house with plywood. This only took a few hours one morning. The guys worked away quietly, cleared up and took away all old parts when finished. Never knew they had been other than having a nice flat roof again! Their details are now in our contacts list and will surely use again.

Great work again from David and Alan - the work done was removal of 4 old timber windows and frames, supply and fit 4 new rosewood and white double glazed UPVC windows all with obscure glass also fit new internal sills to suit, and then remove all rubbish. All the work was carried out neatly and accurately, and they cleaned up really well both days they were here. Really pleased with their work again - would definitely recommend.

The work was to remove, advise on and repair a wall in our dining room, enabling the garden doors to open and close freely and clearing out all damp materials caused by a faulty gutter; also to re-align water down-pipes that had been partly responsible for the faulty gutter.

Repair to facia of roof due to storm damage. I’ve used them before as well and they are obliging, polite and very efficient . Work was done to a high standard and the finish was superb.

We had WH Kay back to replace our chimney pot with a vent cowl. As with the last time they attended (to repair and seal our apex tiles) they did an excellent job on time, to budget and to a very high quality. I can't recommend them enough.

Some pantiles had broken or slipped, caused by a recent storm, and one had flown off a more inaccessible part of the roof which I hadn't expected them to fix, and for which they didn't quote.

However, they came exactly when they said they would, did the work quickly, including the extra piece of work, left no mess, and were pleasant and easy to deal with, so we've asked them to investigate another problem.

Replaced cement on gable and repaired and improved drainage on gutters at roof level. Clearing gutters and fixing defective part of gutter.

A sun pipe was installed. Alan was not available straight away as he had other work booked. I took this as a good sign and so it proved. When the work was done Alan, and his helper, turned up at the agreed time and date and carried out the task in a cheerful and friendly manner. The job was completed in the agreed time frame and they tidied up afterwards. All in all I am highly satisfied with the work done and would recommend Alan to future customers.

Repairs were to a flat roof extension. We had a couple of leaks that two other roofers had failed to repair. David Kay was very knowledgeable and pointed out several deficiences in the building work that could have contributed to the leaks. He applied sealant etc. This seems to have sorted out one leak but the other has reappeared occasionally but not recently here's hoping!
His charges seem high but if it works then I'm happy - we've already "wasted" money with others to little or no benefit.

Gutters cleaned thoroughly of excessive moss, slime and dirt due to close proximity of large trees near the property. Have used W.H.Kay a number of times now for this type of roof and building work and found them to be punctual, reliable, trustworthy and very good to deal with. Additionally, no mess made and all residues removed from site.

The late March & early April rain caused my roof to leak & rain water to come into my hall.
I contacted a couple of roofing companies, but only William H Kay treated this like the emergency it was.
They asked for photos of the external & internal areas, after which they advised me what would need doing & the expected cost, which I accepted, & David turned up a couple of days later.

He did an amazing job of clearing away decades of rubble & found numerous problems in the section involved, all of which he photographed to show & discuss with me before he carried out any work, then took more pics afterwards, & what a difference, & everything seems fine again, so money well spent.

I paid my bill today, & because I will certainly use them again, I also sent them an email asking to be added to any waiting list they have, as well as detailing another 3 jobs I would like done this year.

David Kay was the 4th trader we had out to look at a long-standing issue with an overflowing gutter under our eaves.

However he was the first to properly investigate, even setting up a hosepipe to fill the gutter to see where the issue was.

He also took the time to clear the gutter of debris to check that wasn’t the cause of the issue. On the first visit he also noticed and addressed a few slipped tiles on the roof.

David then provided an estimate for the work (1/7 the cost of a previous estimate from another company) and returned within a week to complete it.

Key works:
-Removal of cement around the Gutter along the problem area and removal of approximately 10- 14 tiles replacement with new tiles.
-Supply and fit of new cement board to hold new cement in place and away from top edge of gutter to allow us to lift the gutter up slightly to prevent from leaking.
- re cementing between tiles at front to prevent birds from entering roof space.

I found WH Kay to be far superior to any other companies that came out to assess the job. They clearly are very experienced, extremely trustworthy, and actually interested to get to the bottom of issues and fix them. I had Alan and David come to check my roof and clear the gutters. Although very busy, they were able to fit the work in quite soon after I had made the original request. They are very punctual, undertook the work and took all materials away with them.

Had roof leak in dormer attic just before Christmas shut down. WH Kay were very responsive, provided initial quote based on photos and were able to fix the issue before they finished up for the holidays. The cost was more than initially quoted but they advised and agreed that in advance. We subsequently had further leak which they came and resolved. They're very responsive and professional and the roof leaks appear to be fixed.

David fitted new roof tiles and a rone pipe after storm damage. Very prompt response to my message and did the work immediately. Always reliable and helpful.

Investigation and repair of roof leak tracking to bedroom ceiling. Following identification of the source, rotten felt and tiling battens were replaced with new and all moss and debris cleared from tiles, joints and gutter.

This is the second time they have worked on the house first time they repointed the roof, this time the gutters were cleaned and 2 broken tiles were replaced on the roof.

We've been having our windows replaced over time, as and when we can afford to do it. This time we had our patio door replaced. The work was finished to a high standard within the day. All the facings are very neatly finished, mitres are perfect. The external finish is neat and tidy too. The UPVC door seems to be a high standard and we're very happy with it; a big improvement over the door that was replaced - we noticed the difference in the warmth in the house the first evening. After the work was completed all the rubbish was taken away and the work area cleaned and vacuumed. David is great to deal with - we'll continue to work with W H Kay for our window and roof repairs as well as any other building jobs around our home.

David did some pointing work for us and, unlike several other roofing companies contacted, turned up and carried out the work. In addition the pointing blends in well with existing pointing unlike some done on our neighbours’ roofs. So we are very pleased with the work and will definitely contact David again for roof repairs.

Plastic roof verge caps had come loose during the high winds at the beginning of the year. I'd tried other companies with no response, I assume as it was quite a small job. David was quick with a quote and managed to fit the job in. He kept me up to date with when they would be able to attend. The men were friendly and efficient when they attended and turned up when they said they would. Very happy with the service.

I hired W H Kay to replace some cracked and loose tiles on my roof and to repair the lead flashing. They checked over the complete roof and repaired all areas which needed attention. They were very responsive to my messages, arrived when arranged and I found them to be very trustworthy and knowledgeable. This is the second time we have asked Alan to do some work for us and both times we have been really pleased with the result. This job was to install 2 sun tunnels, replace an internal door, upgrade and re-hang a second internal door, and fit new skirtings and door surrounds in our living room.
