We booked Garry to carry out an EICR before going ahead with installation of a home charger for our EV by the car retailer’s subsidiary.
We were so impressed with his thoroughness and professionalism that we got Garry to fit a charger himself (Zappi 2.0). He and his apprentice arrived on time, lifted carpet, cut access hatch, connected cabling to meter with RCD, drilled walls, fitted charger, replaced carpet, vacuumed, explained operation of charger - all in less than 3 hours - and charged the same or less than other company (even with “discount”).
This young man deserves to succeed and we have no hesitation in recommending him.

Garry was completely professional from the initial contact to completion of a full house rewire. He was clear, transparent and offered positive advice on all aspects of the job. His outline of work involved and timescales were adhered to from the first minute.
A rewire can be a messy process so we opted to let the team work whilst we opted to vacate for a few days. We returned to all work completed to our satisfaction and all areas made good where there was any disruption. A truly five star review, well earned. Garry assessed prior work and claims of work which were paid for. His report identified thousands of pounds of work not completed. His reports will assist in pursing complaints.

Garry has now completed all works to building control pass standard and adapted to changing plans. This has included connecting electric cables and cutting out through 3 ft walls into an unused space and connecting kitchen appliances. Working with Corecut to have the extractor fan cored out. And he and his team have been adapting lighting to be dimmable. Other works include fitting lighting outside and there are other plans I being discussed.

Garry has always maintained professional boundaries as have his staff. I happily recommend his business.

We are a small scout group who have used Garry for many years, money is tight for a small group such as ours, Garry offers a first class service and real value for money. we would have no hesitation in recommending his company.

We recently moved into a lovely old house (built c. 1888) and knew that there would be some investigative and general maintenance work required. We knew that the first two things we'd have to address would be the roof and the electrical condition. Tracking down a reliable and competent tradesperson was always our main concern, particularly as we were unfamiliar with the area.

The trusted trader site has been our go-to resource for added peace of mind. We contacted Garry Johnston and he was quick to respond, arranging a home visit to assess the work required. He came up with a recommended programme of works, dealing firstly with the relocation of electrical sockets from skirtings at floor level (common in older homes) to 300mm above FFL as per our initial request.

Garry followed this up with a thorough assessment (EICR - electrical installation condition report) conducted with a colleague. He issued the report in a timeous manner and the quality / level of detail was impressive. It identified that parts of the house were wired to current standard, but the lighting circuits were all unearthed VIR wiring.

We arranged for his team to attend for a full rewire. Yet again, he was able to schedule the works for a suitable time. The team arrived promptly on the date promised, and worked tirelessly for four full days, stopping only for lunch and to collect additional materials.

The anticipated physical intrusion to walls, floors, and ceilings was kept to a minimum, with all necessary work patched up to a high standard of finish. All sockets and switches were replaced with new back boxes and face plates.

The cost of the works was reasonable, and reflected the competency of the team, quality and completeness of the works.

We'll have Garry Johnston and his business back to the house next year for more work installing outdoor circuits and our garage building.
