Another reviewer called them the Gold standard of arborists & that pretty much sums up the entire experience. Like most we obtained other companies quotes & the advice to take down a tree ranged from no returned call to something from the Double Glazing Salesman’s sign today handbook. ( & some even worse! ) I would say at this stage, some quotes were based on what they thought they could charge rather than the actual tree removal costs.

Grant from Murdoch Wood came out the day we called, carried out a thorough inspection & even brought and put in place some strapping for the tree as we were pre Storm Amy. Remember this was before being asked to do the actual job. We received the quote and were happy to proceed. Keeping in mind the inspection was Friday & it was Storm Amy weekend, he pulled some of the guys from other jobs and the tree was taken down on Wednesday.

The guys themselves ( like Grant) were ultra professional, incredibly friendly and worked like a machine to get the job finished. By the end you could not have guessed the tree or the guys had been there.

Sorry, we can’t give more than 5 stars, however Murdoch Wood Ltd were like the old style business. Incredibly professional, very reasonable quote for the work required and all carried out above and beyond.

Grant and his team removed a huge tree from the field beside my house which was well within reach of falling onto the house. After hearing about their great reputation I didn't think twice about choosing them for the job. Great communication and completely reliable. They even got in touch with the land owner before going ahead with the job and left the tree in sections on site as requested. I'm sure I'll be using them again as theres some more big trees in my garden

We sub contract Grant and his team for all our tree work. All staff are respectful to our customers, safe and hard working. I trust Grant to deliver a high quality service all the time and will continue to use him.

Grant and his team spent four days at our property taking down two very tall trees, topping others and doing general pruning. Throughout their time they worked in a professional manner and attention to detail with minimal disruption and followed our wishes to the letter. At the end of each day the work area was left tidy and at the end of the job you’d hardly know they’d been there.
They carried out a brilliant job and we highly recommend them for all your tree surgery needs.

We asked Murdoch Wood Ltd for a quote to reduce the size of some trees within the property and to cut back overhanging limbs from the woodland next door.

Grant Murdoch, Company Director, came to view the planned work very quickly, quoted well and we engaged them for the job.

The work was carried out quickly and all the professionals working on the job were amazing. Really easy to work with. They did exactly what we asked for and left the site clear and tidy.

These guys skilfully removed 6 top heavy trees for us. There expertise made it look easy. They turned up as organised and left the garden tide. Very impressed and will use them again.

Reduction or complete removal of storm-damaged trees.
Murdoch Wood were highly recommended by several neighbours.
Neat and careful removal of broken limbs from large trees within awkward proximity to fuel tanks or power lines. Other damaged trees removed, branches shredded and spread on open ground, logs cut and stacked in manageable pieces.
All work completed within the agreed time.

I used this company twice to cut down ' hung up ' trees beside a neighbours drive and a large ash tree suffering from rot and ash die-back. The ash was close to a house.
In both cases the work was done professionally and to quote with no damage to surrounding trees or infrastructure. The only reason I gave a 4 for value for money is because it's human nature to want things cheaper and I will save the perfect score for another time!
I am happy to recommend this company and will certainly use again if the need arises .
