Alistair L Strachan Painter

We contacted Alistair for a multi-room wallpapering/emulsion painting of our home. He quickly visited and provided a survey for the amount of paper required, making ordering easy, as well as advice on the essential preparation/labour each room would require. Within a couple of days he followed up with breakdown estimate of the costs. Everything was clearly presented, conditional on unforeseen circumstances. We all agreed to proceed understanding there would be a delay of several weeks given his busy schedule.
We were delighted when Alistair offered an early start to part of our project, given that another job had finished early. We found that this was typical of Alistair’s commitment and client care, which together with clear and good communication gave us confidence in him.
After the expected wait the main job began. As work progressed we could only express our admiration and respect for Alistair. His work with the ceiling’s emulsion produced an excellent, even and fresh finish, much superior to our previous efforts as “amateurs” lol. His adaptable skills with the various wallpaper textures produced a well-matched and well-cut result, especially around a difficult fireplace.
Each day we all freely exchanged views on the way things were going and this developed our profound respect for his excellent experience and abilities. We also developed a great rapport with Alistair, made easy by his extremely personable character and sense of humour and we were quite relaxed in trusting him in the house whilst we had other engagements.
Having worked hard on the key living area of the house during the week, Alistair offered to come in on the Saturday morning to finish the job, letting us get sorted out and back to normal. This kindness and care was a real highlight for us.
Alistair has lifted the “finish” of our home to a very high standard and we would have no hesitation in recommending his excellent work to others.

An excellent, professional job.

We have used Alistair for all our recent decorating. Most recently he wallpapered our main bedroom and even repainted the walls and woodwork bringing them up to a professional level. We will always use Alistair for all our future needs and would highly recommend him.

Alistair has been decorating my house inside and outside for 23 years. He responds immediately to any requests and comes when he says he will come.

He takes an immense pride is his work and is meticulous. He explains what he is going to do and the reasons for using particular materials. If he finds any problem with the structure outwith the decorating he will advise you.

I trust him with my house keys and he has his own code for the burglar alarm.

Interior decoration of hall and staircase.

We have used Alistair's services several times over the years. As previously, the work on this project was carried out meticulously and the result is highly satisfactory. He not only carried out the decoration but was extremely helpful in moving furniture, pictures, curtains etc. The floor was very well protected and there was not a trace of damage to carpets and other floor covering..

As on previous occasions, he worked while we were away from home and, as always, was most trustworthy.

My wife and I cannot speak too highly of Alistair - not only as a tradesman but as a sociable and pleasant person.

Excellent job from Mr Strachan - master painter and decorator. It consisted of external redecoration of hassan boards, soffits, rones and attic windows, on a large detached Victorian property.
Preparation was meticulous and I was kept informed at all stages, regarding the type of paint, number of coasts, etc. I am extremely pleased with the end result.

I was very pleased with all aspects of having my exterior window frames and sills painted. The painter was helpful and friendly and took a great deal of trouble over all the details such as ensuring that the sash windows opened without sticking. Everything was left tidy with no mess once the work was finished.
