We have been dealing with S & P Renewables since 2024. We have always found them to be extremely helpful and courteous, also they have always shown us and our property great care and attention when carrying out jobs, upgrades and or maintenance.
I would recommend this company as your first stop for a quotation and or a purchase. You are treated like a friend rather than a number.
Thank you to all the staff for your help.

Solar pv panels and battery storage installation. Installation done quickly and efficiently. All staff except Ewan were polite, responsive and helpful. The pv was mistakenly left switched off after installation, which, after initially being blamed on our electricity meter, was discovered and rectified. After installation our system kept tripping, again blamed on us, even though we followed instructions given. Eventually Ewan had this resolved but took a lot of chasing. Now fixed and working. No formal handover to go over the app and system in person. Incorrect documentation showing we'd get an energy meter, which was blamed on office staff. No explanation of 'island mode' meaning, leaving us trying to figure this out with SPEN who weren't clear either - S&P have told us they're too busy to help set this up after having eventually getting approval for this from SPEN. We decided to cancel our ASHP installation with this company after this experience, leaving us very much not trusting this trader.

Installed solar panels and storage batteries.
The installation was carried out at a time that suited us, in a quick and efficient manner. The engineers very efficiently found a route for the cables which had far less impact on the house than the initial survey suggested.
The complexity of the installation gave some teething problems, which were resolved fairly quickly.
I would definitely recommend the company for similar work.

**Excellent Solar Inverter Replacement Experience******
I was very pleased to find that my original solar supplier is still in business and able to provide an enhanced replacement inverter. From start to finish, the process was smooth and well-coordinated.
Communication with the company was excellent, keeping me informed every step of the way. On the installation day, everything was organised perfectly--components were delivered first, followed shortly by the installation team.
The installers were friendly, efficient, and professional. They completed the work neatly and tidily, ensuring everything was installed to a high standard. Before leaving, they took the time to familiarise me with the new equipment, which was greatly appreciated.
Overall, a seamless and professional service--I highly recommend them!

S&P installed a solar panel array and battery storage system for me. All aspects of their work and approach was first class, well executed, and highly professional - the initial contact, the site visit to assess requirements and technical options, the written proposal and costings, the installation of the equipment, the commissioning of the system, and the office administration. They were both tolerant of, and flexible to some installation constraints which I imposed. The installation of equipment both externally and internally was carried out efficiently and to a high standard. I would certainly employ this company again.

After an initial contact with S&P renewables about solar, I was invited into the office to chat things through with Ewan. He took a lot of time out of his day to really help me to understand the different options available, which in turn allowed me to make an informed decision. We were provided with a detailed quote very promptly and again, Ewan was available to answer any questions I had. After making the easy decision to go ahead with the solar panels, batteries and inverter, Safe & Protect were able to work around our schedule to arrange installation. Becky & Donna in the office kept us up to speed and explained the full process clearly. During installation, Teo, Bogdan and Matt were excellent and really listened to where we wanted to put things and gave really helpful suggestions. We’re extremely pleased with the solar panels and absolutely delighted with S&P renewables. I can’t recommend them enough.

Solar installation with battery bank.
SUMMARY: S&P Renewables - Very satisified with the installation and would recommend them unreservedly.
SITE VISIT: A detailed survey – actually looking at all aspects of the proposed installation
QUOTATION: Fully detailed including proper Terms & Conditions – nothing left to misinterpret, including schedule for payments and deliverables.
INSTALLATION: A great team with an enthusiastic attitude despite the ambient conditions. Very considerate to internal and external areas, and always happy to explain what they were doing and what their schedule was. Also happy to look for solutions to cabling runs that were acceptable to me, rather than simply progressing what might be easiest to them. Also happy to confirm as-left status in respect to closures, insulation etc.
FOLLOW UP: A document pack delivered quickly, that was complete and has each document numbered for easy identification and assurance.

I have just had a solar battery & hybrid inverter system installed by S&P to augment the solar panels they installed 11 years ago. Ewan’s patience & guidance have been extremely helpful. The office staff are unfailingly polite and knowledgeable. The installer was efficient, tidy and pleasant - a good ambassador for the company. The whole process was made as straightforward as possible, whilst ensuring speedy installation.
It is reassuring to know that support is ongoing if needed. I made the right decision in using S&P again.

We had a 16 panel solar array and batteries installed and were extremely happy with the whole process. From our first contact it was all explained to us, any questions answered and advice given and we were kept up to date re the installation dates etc. On the day of installation the guys who came were hard working and friendly, keeping us informed of what they were doing at each stage. They were very tidy workers and all work was completed in one day. We were recommended to use this company by a friend and were not disappointed and would definitely recommend them to anyone thinking of having any work done. You can’t beat using a local, honest, independent company. Bring on the sunshine!

Installation of a residential PV system with storage on and in a detached garage. All completed within 3 months from initial contact. There was considerable discussion initially around the principal involved and on the detail of scale and design. The work itself was done in a day and included a welcome improvement in the panel layout identified on site by the very organised and efficient installation team. Always preferring to use local service suppliers if possible, S & P have been the right choice for this job as they have been readily contactable throughout and everything has been much more personalised than proposals that were obtained from others.

We initially had solar panels fitted in 2019 an were really impressed with the quality of work the price and the communications with Safe & Protect. The work was done efficiently and there was no mess in the house. More recently we had batteries fitted to our system and again the price, communications and completion of the work was brilliant. The tradespeople who came to my house were polite, respectful and trustworthy.
We are really pleased and highly recommend Ewen and the Safe & Protect team .
I have recommended them to a number of people and they have done similar work for one of my neighbours who are also pleased with their work.

The system was not “left off”, it had tripped which then caused it to go off. As soon as we were aware I went out to site personally to check and the system was then back on. I am not sure what the ‘blame on our electricity meter’ part is about? We fit systems every other day and have never blamed an electricity meter (import meter?) for any malfunction.
Many instructions were given verbally over the telephone to the client. I am rarely sat at a desk and 95% of the time in my van or on site so verbal communication is my primary communication if clients wish to speak to me directly. However looking back now I do believe that much of what I had instructed or had discussed was perhaps not regarded or understood, as I thought they had been. On an email from 14/01/25 the client voiced “I've asked that Ewan provide emailed details of exactly what's needed to fix this as he tried to provide details over the phone that make no sense to me”. This uncertainty was noted 2 months after the installation had been completed.
Just to very briefly summarise, instructions to clients/electrician were provided but not followed accurately. It is believed that the client’s electrician carrying out the works for renovation also had reservations about not using a standard RCD as we had instructed. I could understand why (general electrical works use standard RCDs in industry practice) but when it comes to solar PV, a standard RCD is not needed if the cables are surface mounted and visible, which they were. Nevertheless, after speaking with the electrician directly we agreed that a 100m A RCD would be fitted instead.
In addition to this, the incorrect MCB was also installed at the offset and has now been replaced with the correct one. These two issues are what caused the intermittent system trip and not a faulty inverter as suggested by the client on several occasions.
Again, I can only apologise that issues were not resolved as quickly as the client had liked but due to the fact that there was no internet connection on site it was hard to carry out quick diagnoses as we would usually do from our remote installer access. But, this obviously relies on the internet.
The discussions back and forth about how and why issues arose was not an allocation of blame. Between us we were simply trying to work out why the system wasn’t working as it should. If we, S&P Renewables, did not cause the fault directly then we had to follow a process of elimination and consider factors pertaining to the client’s end too.
Having spoken with all staff involved in the installation individually they have all said that they explained things to the client throughout their time on site and answered any queries they had. Usually our guys would go through the app in person too but because there was no internet on site, this was not possible.
The incorrect documentation was indeed sent and this was down to the admin staff because they handle the customer paper work from quotes to invoices to hand over pack documents. They have since apologised for sending the wrong schematic diagram.
Island Mode was discussed In person, face to face, on my initial site visit and was stated that this is not included in a general installation and would be classed as additional works. This is made to clear to all customers who ask about Island Mode so it certainly would not have been omitted in this instance because it is quite a complex task. It requires more work than the standard install as well as separate permissions from SPEN (Scottish Power Energy Networks) and often a site visit from them. Perhaps the correspondent that they spoke with at SPEN was not as well versed on battery storage island mode because in our common dealings with the G99 team at SPEN, they are quite clear about it.
With all due respect, it is not common practice for us to turn customers away because we are ‘too busy’. We believed that the client was already very dissatisfied with our services and any solution we put forward was met with some hostility so we thought it was in the best interest of everyone not to pursue with further works at this site.
We have fully accepted the client’s wish to cancel their order for an ASHP and refunded the entire deposit even though we would have been entitled to reject this as it was out with the 14 day grace period.
This was a bit of a complex job. In hindsight we should have waited until the client’s renovations were further along the line before coming out to site. However, the client was very insistent on having their system installed quicker so that their workman could use the free solar electricity. The emphasis on this was quite clear as it was mentioned several times in emails, the last saying “every day you delay this is costing us money”. We thought we were acting in goodwill by fitting this system a bit quicker but it just seems to have caused issues. We are definitely at fault for agreeing to fulfil this order too quick and rushing things, and also not recognizing sooner that some things had been misunderstood but we do not agree that this warrants a 3 star review. Perhaps if we had went in with less works going on and some internet connection things may have ran a bit smoother and allowed for quicker solutions.
