We offer impartial and expert building surveying services for both residential and commercial clients. Utilising traditional inspection methods alongside advanced drone technology, we conduct Drone Surveys, Bespoke Building Surveys, Stone Surveys, and RICS Home Surveys.
Our drones provide a cost-effective and efficient alternative to conventional inspection methods like scaffolding and cherry pickers, allowing visual inspection of hard-to-reach areas and delivering high-resolution images and videos for accurate condition assessments of masonry, roofs, chimneys, and rainwater systems.
We can safely and quickly inspect city centre tenements including parts of the building that are normally inaccessible, producing a condition report that identifies problem areas and recommends options for repairs and maintenance.
Our surveys can be tailored to your needs, and report include features such as traffic light condition ratings, annotated photographs, sketches, and roof layouts. We offer everything from focused roof inspections to comprehensive building surveys. With over 35 years of experience in the built heritage sector, we bring extensive knowledge of permeable materials like stone and lime mortars to our work.
We also carry out RICS Home Surveys Level 3, using the RICS standardised template with traffic light ratings to indicate the condition of various building elements. These surveys, popular among home buyers, offer a general health check of the property.
All surveys are conducted by an Associate Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) with specialised qualifications in Conservation of Masonry and Energy Efficiency for Older & Traditional Buildings. Our drone surveys are carried out by Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) registered pilots who are qualified to GVC standard and trained to operate under our Operational Authorisation issued by the CAA.

Stoneworks carried out a RICS 3 survey on our house (listed buidling). We found David to be exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful. The survey report is very detailed, including photos and a checklist of issues to consider addressing. It's given us great peace of mind to have had an expert take a thorough look at the house. It feels like a 'no brainer' to spend a little extra on a thorough survey early on, so that we can sort out any issues before they progress and before we do internal renovations. I have a feeling the survey will pay for itself in no time. I have no hesitation in recommending Stoneworks.

David went above and beyond. He recently completed two surveys of a tenement's roof; one to identify repair needs and one after these major repairs were executed. Both times, David was very diligent, detail-oriented, flexible, quick in his communication and turnaround.

As co-owners of a tenement building of several flats, we arranged for David at Stoneworks to provide an independent detailed survey of the roof to provide us with valuable knowledge of works that needed doing and quality of previous work already done by roofing contractors. Excellent service and communication with a detailed report and explanations. Generally very helpful and knowledgable. We hope to enlist Stoneworks again once the works are complete to ensure the work has been completed by contractors and to the required standard

Detailed physical survey of A-listed property with focus on exterior defects requiring attention, repair or replacement.
The surveyor conducted a physical and drone survey of the property over a 4 to 5 hour period. He identified areas requiring attention, graded on a scale. His experience with stone properties and listed buildings was invaluable. His communication was clear and he helped formulate a plan to prioritise repairs and remedy any defects. This plan is almost complete and will help preserve the integrity of the property.

I initially contacted Mr Lindsay regarding a stonework repair that was required to the Pend of my Category B listed home and as a fairly recent occupant of this property I decided to extend the assessment to the complete building. Mr Lindsay conducted a thorough examination of all aspects of the building taking extensive photographs following which he discussed his preliminary findings with me and answered my questions. He prepared a full report with photographs which was forwarded to me and as I had further questions regarding priorities he returned to talk over my concerns. I had some issues with our local Planning Department and he provided me with some helpful advice. In all his dealings with me I found Mr Lindsay to be thoroughly professional, knowledgeable and approachable.

We had water ingress into the ground floor and basement flats in a five story house and needed to understand where the problem lay. Stoneworks conducted a full and thorough survey on the property, using drones and gathering lots of pictures. We are currently in the process of having the works done and the survey has been incredibly useful for the roofers and stonemasons. Stoneworks provided an excellent service.
