I asked for a quote to have communal lights fixed and the light timer to be put back into a correct sequence after power cuts left it all over the place. I received a quote very quickly and it was a very good price. The work was carried out very soon after the invoice was paid and all contact had with the company was very good. Brilliant job and brilliant customer service. I shall use this company again and recommend them to anyone who needs an electrical job done.

I had the switch for my shower fixed, the guy informed me that the wiring was not safe and fixed the problem. He was very professional and polite and cleaned up any mess that was left, I was very happy with the job he did I would recommend Ideal Electrical Solutions very highly.

Electrical (EICR) and fire certificate. Responded to request for work with a quote and availability almost immediately on multiple occasions. Electricians always arrived on time and when expected and carried out their work professionally and efficiently.

I had a significant problem with my old fuseboard and damaged (burnt) wires which needed urgent attention. I used the Trusted Trader website and selected IES as the most suitable company. They sent me a no-obligation quote and gave me time to make up my mind. All correspondence was easy and simple (by email). Once I agreed to the quote, I only had to wait one week for the job to be done. The electrician, Calum, arrived at my property exactly as arranged and, after a brief discussion, he proceeded to do the work to a very professional standard. The major job was to change my old, outdated fuseboard to a new, safe and modern one, which I now have. There was minimal mess, and Calum even offered to sweep up himself the little mess that there was, which is another indicator of good training and customer service. We had an external socket fitted to run our pond pump. There was a good level of expertise and I'm happy with the job. It was sometimes a bit hard to get through on the phone, had to ring twice a couple of times before they picked up. But would be happy to recommend.

We had an rcd which kept tripping for 2 rooms. The electrician arrived within the time allocated, located the problem socket and solved the tripping problem. He worked diligently and completed the work in an hour. A very pleasant young man who was confident he could locate the problem. We had a couple of jobs carried out in a flat in Edinburgh: a Landlord's electrical safety certificate, two new wall sockets mounted and a cooker light. Throughout the whole process, from the initial request, to completion, the communication was effective and efficient. Both jobs were lined up to be done the same day. The electrician arrived exactly on time, after several automatic appointment reminders (which I found very helpful!). He was flexible and helpful in terms of working out where to install wires and sockets. The work was done to a high standard.
The only aspect I would mention, that might be improved, is that when I received an initial email from IES, to agree an appointment, it was unspecific in terms of the job to be done. Whilst there was a signature (a female name) at the end of the email there was no company address or any means of identifying which company had sent the email. Normally I would know - just from a process of deduction, but I have a number of jobs undergo at the moment. So, a company address on the email would be helpful.

We had a new security light fitted and it involved creating a new socket beside an existing one. The work was done really neatly and it looks great. We would not hesitate to call again if and when we need anything else done.

New security light fitting, and fixing of 2 faulty lights.

Ideal have been carrying out electrical work at my property for several years now. They have proved reliable, getting the job done quickly and at high quality for a fair price.

I called out an electrician to replace the light fitting in the bathroom of my house. He arrived promptly and installed a new and more suitable light fitting efficiently. He was polite and professional at all times, and I would certainly call on the services of Ideal Electrical Solutions again in future.

They were punctual and polite but the way they went in and out of my house they ended up leaving the doors open letting the cold in. They came to install a light in my living room ceiling which was straight forward but they dropped the old fitting on to the floor, just missing my furniture by a couple of inches. They then went on to lay the old light and fittings on my leather seat.

Next they were to replace the light and reattach the tubing that the cable was in, back on to the wall in my back garden. They did not have the fittings to reattach it and has ended up that the cable is now on show and the new light was not the same strength as my old one, and that’s after they came out to have a look at the jobs that I was wanting done and to give me a quote for the work that was to be done.

Then my extractor fan in my bathroom was loose and was making a noise and so I asked for them to fixed it in place or replace it with a new one and replace my old outdoor grill for the extractor fan ( which they installed the grill up side down). They said they could not fix it, but did not have an extractor fan to install and ended up having to come back out to fit the new extractor fan and fit the outdoor grill the right way up.

When they came out to fit the fan they were on time and this time they were a lot more considerate regarding closing the doors and the job was done quickly. I wish they would have done this on their first visit. They let themselves down on their first visit.

I've had several jobs completed by IES in the past: dead leg removals, EICRs, PATs, etc. They provide great customer service and efficient tradespeople; I'll continue to use them in future. Thanks to the whole IES team for their hard work and quick response times.

As someone who has small infrequent needs for tradespeople, I can find it infuriating trying to find quality companies that care.

IES are a godsend in this regard. I have used them 3 times over 5 or so years now, and right from initial contact I get the distinct impression that my custom is important to them. They turn up promptly at the agreed time. The quality of their work is high. Their price is clear up front and fair. After sales communication - to confirm that the work is satisfactory and to provide the invoice - is clear and helpful. I have never had to chase them for anything.

I would highly recommend them, and would certainly use them again.

I'm going to start with the negatives. I had overhead lighting fitted into my flat, it was floor-lighting only. Instead of raggling the living room wall, the electrician raggled areas of the mains light wire in, then trailed a 4-metre length above the picture rail and tucked it in. It's clear what happened - they estimated 2 days with 2 electricians, it was trickier than it looked, they ran out time, and took an unacceptable shortcut. Also, the light fittings were not aligned centrally.

Additionally, they used my brand new dustpan and brush to clean up, broke the handle and didn't say anything.

I'm giving 3 stars because I had the electrician who took the shortcut's mobile number and called him and he came round and did what I'm sure he knows he should have done in the first place the following morning. I was also reimbursed for the dustpan and brush.

All things considered, I'm happy with the end result and they righted their wrongs very quickly.

I've used IES on a number of occasions over the years for private domestic work and they are consistantly reliable and efficient.

IES offer a professional service and they actually turn up on time and keep you informed throughout the process unlike a lot of other Edinburgh based tradesmen who charge over the top prices, provide inadequate work and decide whether they will turn up on the day or not.
