Ideal have been carrying out electrical work at my property for several years now. They have proved reliable, getting the job done quickly and at high quality for a fair price.

I called out an electrician to replace the light fitting in the bathroom of my house. He arrived promptly and installed a new and more suitable light fitting efficiently. He was polite and professional at all times, and I would certainly call on the services of Ideal Electrical Solutions again in future.

They were punctual and polite but the way they went in and out of my house they ended up leaving the doors open letting the cold in. They came to install a light in my living room ceiling which was straight forward but they dropped the old fitting on to the floor, just missing my furniture by a couple of inches. They then went on to lay the old light and fittings on my leather seat.

Next they were to replace the light and reattach the tubing that the cable was in, back on to the wall in my back garden. They did not have the fittings to reattach it and has ended up that the cable is now on show and the new light was not the same strength as my old one, and that’s after they came out to have a look at the jobs that I was wanting done and to give me a quote for the work that was to be done.

Then my extractor fan in my bathroom was loose and was making a noise and so I asked for them to fixed it in place or replace it with a new one and replace my old outdoor grill for the extractor fan ( which they installed the grill up side down). They said they could not fix it, but did not have an extractor fan to install and ended up having to come back out to fit the new extractor fan and fit the outdoor grill the right way up.

When they came out to fit the fan they were on time and this time they were a lot more considerate regarding closing the doors and the job was done quickly. I wish they would have done this on their first visit. They let themselves down on their first visit.

I have used IES a few times for small jobs. It’s easy to get a quotation fast and somebody is usually able to come out within a few days. They always arrive on time and do a good job.

I've had several jobs completed by IES in the past: dead leg removals, EICRs, PATs, etc. They provide great customer service and efficient tradespeople; I'll continue to use them in future. Thanks to the whole IES team for their hard work and quick response times.

As someone who has small infrequent needs for tradespeople, I can find it infuriating trying to find quality companies that care.

IES are a godsend in this regard. I have used them 3 times over 5 or so years now, and right from initial contact I get the distinct impression that my custom is important to them. They turn up promptly at the agreed time. The quality of their work is high. Their price is clear up front and fair. After sales communication - to confirm that the work is satisfactory and to provide the invoice - is clear and helpful. I have never had to chase them for anything.

I would highly recommend them, and would certainly use them again.

I'm going to start with the negatives. I had overhead lighting fitted into my flat, it was floor-lighting only. Instead of raggling the living room wall, the electrician raggled areas of the mains light wire in, then trailed a 4-metre length above the picture rail and tucked it in. It's clear what happened - they estimated 2 days with 2 electricians, it was trickier than it looked, they ran out time, and took an unacceptable shortcut. Also, the light fittings were not aligned centrally.

Additionally, they used my brand new dustpan and brush to clean up, broke the handle and didn't say anything.

I'm giving 3 stars because I had the electrician who took the shortcut's mobile number and called him and he came round and did what I'm sure he knows he should have done in the first place the following morning. I was also reimbursed for the dustpan and brush.

All things considered, I'm happy with the end result and they righted their wrongs very quickly.

I've used IES on a number of occasions over the years for private domestic work and they are consistantly reliable and efficient.

IES offer a professional service and they actually turn up on time and keep you informed throughout the process unlike a lot of other Edinburgh based tradesmen who charge over the top prices, provide inadequate work and decide whether they will turn up on the day or not.

IES even offer an online payment system which keeps track of your jobs and allows easy payments.

Ideal Electrical Solutions carried out a full rewire in a city centre bar, this was carried out during the night after close as we wanted to keep the bar open during the day and at night for our regular custom.

I was able to take photos & measurements of what I wanted replaced/sorted & email those details to IES - this was a lot better than waiting in for someone to come & quote. We needed an overhaul of the electrics in the house - we'd had problems with tripping circuits and an unusually large number of burnt out lights. IES were professional, careful and clearly explained what they found, and then put some really well worked out options on the table for us. Upshot, a stable system and lights that don't go pop. The charges were fair and reasonable - good value for money.

I only needed a couple of light fittings installed and was unsure as to whether the job might be too small for the company. However, when I phoned they made it absolutely clear that they were very happy to come and do the work. The guy arrived on time the next day - he was really pleasant and swiftly installed the lights. He then offered to remove all the wrappings from each individual droplet of glass on the fittings (there are loads of them) but I let him off doing that. Very happy customer.

The work which was done was to replace 4 existing gear trays to the existing fittings for lighting the common stair in an Edinburgh tenement. The work was done to a high standard and did not disturb the existing decoration nor damage the existing wiring. They provided a much brighter and more efficient way of lighting the common stair.

Ideal Electrical have performed electrical testing and installation works for us..we are a company based in the south and use Ideal Electrical to sub contract our work in Edinburgh, they have always been and continue to be great value, reliable and deliver all work to a high standard, i reccomend them highly.

IES renewed our electrical distribution board and also carry out our annual fire equipment inspections. They are easy to work with, flexible in their approach to when they did the work, and completed the tasks to a high standard.

We had our flat partially rewired. The problem with the electrics only became apparent after we had decorated the flat and I was very concerned about the potential for mess and also about damage to the plasterwork. However, EIS listened to my concerns and managed to plan most of the rewiring by using a cupboard so that the work did not damage the new decor or the Victorian plasterwork. In one room they installed a 'smart switch' to avoid damage to a wall.
All in all, I was very pleased with the work. It wasn't cheap but EIS did what they said they would and saved me from the additional expense of redecorating the flat.

Absolutely delighted with the professional and courteous service received every time I have used Ideal electrical. They are definitely my electricians of choice.
