My garden needed a massive re-vamp and I'm so glad I came across Alex and his team. I had rotting decking, existing slabs that were damaged and the ground was completely uneven.

Alex and the guys have transformed the garden into somewhere that I actually want to chill out. Although I chose a basic design, it looks so much better and neater. Just wait till I add a cheeky corner sofa and fire pit!

For the amount of work needed, I thought the quote was very reasonable and the guys always left everything tidy.

I found Noble Grounds Care on East Lothian Council’s Trusted Trader site when I was looking for someone to complete the hard landscaping part of a new garden. The garden needed to be cleared, have a bin store area built, a garden pond constructed and stepping stones laid.

I was happy with the quote Alex provided (it was the cheapest), all the more so when I look at the quality of the finished work and reflect on the experience of having the work done.

Alex was a pleasure to work with. He worked collaboratively throughout the process and communicated well to ensure the final result met my expectations.

We discussed a couple of design choices when Alex was on site and, while I encouraged Alex’s input, I always felt the final decision was mine to make. Having said that I had intended having circular stepping stones, but resource availability meant we had to explore other options and Alex’s suggestion of square/rectangular paving was the final choice. The result is, I think, considerably better than the original plan thanks to Alex’s input.

When Alex and Liam were on site they tended to just get on with the work without making any fuss, but would speak to me if there were any questions. They had my full confidence in what they were doing.

They had to ensure their work meshed with the final design, and this meant Alex communicating with the team doing the garden planting. I know the planting team were very happy with the contact and communication they had with Alex.

Perhaps most telling was how Alex responded to adversity, in the shape of issues with supplies outwith his control due to the coronavirus restrictions. There were only a couple of issues, which I think is to Alex’s credit, but when they occurred Alex was able to come up with solutions that had minimal impact on the job. I felt he took responsibility and did everything he could to get the job done for me.

I am very satisfied with the work done by Noble Grounds Care and was particularly impressed by their conduct and work ethic in completing the job. I would not hesitate to have Alex do any other similar work I might need done.

We asked for a number of traders to Quote for the work we required (most of these were not from the E.L. Trusted Trader List), which consisted of the installation of a decking area which encompassed a tree, constructed from composite materials, a fence constructed around the decking and between my neighbours property and my own, also from composite materials, digging out a sloping garden area at the side of the house and building a retaining wall then slabbing the resulting area.
Alex Noble stood out from the others who quoted in a number of ways. He asked much more detailed questions on what I required and highlighted his availability to start the works, which was a few months ahead of where we were at the quote stage due to his commitments to his current contracts. He quickly arranged a date to visit the site to view the areas to be worked on and to measure up fully. Again, all of his questions were pertinent and his advice was very useful. he offered to provide samples of the materials and brochures that showed examples of finished projects using the materials we wanted. Of all the quotes we received, Alex's was well constructed, easy to follow and fully costed, showing all materials, labour, hire and spoil disposal costs and of course the dreaded VAT. Also provided was details of his Insurance cover which was another reassuring factor in making our final choice. Although his was not the cheapest (nor the dearest), it was the most professional and comprehensive by far, with payment being due on completion of all works. Alex kept in touch in the period up to the start of the work, and provided the samples of the materials discussed. A firm mutual start date was agreed during the period in between and work started on that date. The work was progressed steadily and thoroughly. I was impressed that Alex had all of the correct tools and equipment for every aspect of the work, and we constantly discussed any problems found and agreed any changes taking our requirements and the practicalities into account. Delays with the lead times on some of the materials was a problem due to the huge demand on suppliers with so many people getting garden works done during this period, but Alex went the extra mile to help source alternative materials and to keep to budget, and at all times to discuss and agree any changes with us. The end result of the works was truly excellent and Alex and his team were a pleasure to deal with, hard working and professional throughout. I would thoroughly recommend Noble Grounds Care to anyone who is considering taking on a ground works or garden project. They are well worth their inclusion in the East Lothian Trusted Trader listing.

Alex and Liam removed unwanted plants, levelled the soil then fitted a membrane over which they laid Cotswold stone chips to make the garden low maintenance for my elderly mother. Alex was prompt with his estimate and 100% on everything that was agreed from initial meeting to date and time of commencement of work, to how long the work would take. Stones were laid to a good depth and finished product looked great. My mother was delighted and commented how good and respectful they were at this difficult time due to Covid 19.

We found Alex on Trusted Trader. Due to Covid19 we had to delay Alex coming to the house to do the job and he was very understanding. Alex removed a raised bed and the soil in it and replaced it with paving slabs in readiness for a new Greenhouse. He also laid a new front lawn and rockery and used the remaining rocks as borders in the back garden. When the first lot of grass looked substandard Alex took it back on his own initiative and brought back a much better lot of grass. Alex and his assistant Liam were a pleasure to have around and tidied up at the end of every day. Alex was very adaptable and did not baulk at last minute requests including pressure hosing and re sanding the driveway.

Extension of existing patio, a new raised patio area and vegetable beds. On site for around a week. Delighted with work which is of a high standard. Alex is reliable, he always responded to phone calls and emails punctually and generally tidy working throughout job.

Cannot fault Alex and his team at Noble Groundworks. They did multiple tree felling, making a driveway, removing gravel and creating a patio, making a gate, turfing areas of garden, and building decking for us and we are so pleased with the results. Now ready to start the next stage of works and will be using Alex again. Definitely recommend!

Alex and his team completed a landscaping project at our new build property in East Lothian. We are extremely happy with the work carried out. At every stage, Alex communicated with us about the progress, everything was done on time. Alex and his team were punctual, tidy and reliable in every way and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him.

Alex created a play area at the side of our house. He cleared and leveled the area - and then sunk a trampoline. The ground wasn't ideal so he built a frame, reinforced with concrete to ensure it was secure. We're delighted with the end result and I would definitely recommend Alex to friends and family.

Noble Grounds Care replaced my back and side fence. The quality of their work is excellent - the fence is sturdy and looks fantastic. I needed a custom gate made (rather than a pre-built one), and Alex made one to my specifications. Communication with Alex was great from the start. He was very responsive to email, and answered all my questions. Very reliable - turned up on time for quoting, and for doing the work. Everything was tidied away at the end of each day, and my garden left looking very neat. Overall, I'm very happy with the process and the final product.

Alex laid artificial grass in our back garden which included levelling of a sloped garden and joining areas. Was dubious about turfing but our dog wiped out our lawn so this was the only option!! Absolutely delighted with the finished product, looks great and the finish Alex and team completed was fantastic. Great service throughout and even finished a day earlier than expected which is unheard of for a tradesman :-) Deffo recommend and will use again

Alex and his team are an absolute delight to have manage your big gardening projects. The lads continually exceeded our greatest expectations, leaving us with a very beautiful outside space to enjoy this summer and for many summers to come. For us, Alex put in a new hedge, a new fence, new gates, hand built planters, decking, casing for an outside biomass boiler, and cut back some very overgrown hedging. Alex has a very precise attention to detail, and is quite inspiring when you are chatting over different options for the garden with him. He is very professional, and quotes are set out very clearly - which helps with decision making. Alex also suggests different options (such as cheaper wood) if working to a budget. I will definitely get Alex and his team back to do other special project things for the garden. Equally, he is very well priced to do general maintenance such as hedge trimming and lawn cutting. I am so impressed I can honestly say Alex Noble and his team are the best gardeners in Scotland.

Alex made a bespoke fence and gate, and laid a slab pathway. The work was done to a very high standard and within the time quoted. Upon completion everything was left clean and tidy. I cannot recommend him highly enough, and he was a pleasure to deal with from the beginning to the end.

After a bad experience on a different slabbing job some years ago, it was a pleasure to work with Alex Noble. The job entailed creation of a patio and slabbing work. He came to view the job promptly and suggested what would work best. He gave a realistic start date and stuck to it. The quality of the work was good and he left the site tidy after he had finished. The quote and the final invoice were detailed and I felt the price provided value for money based on what other similar jobs had cost in the past. Payment was on completion of the job. Overall a very professional job.
