Cannot fault Colin and his team. We had a roof leak that required replacement tiles, felt etc. We were sent photos of the work undertaken once completed, which was reassuring. Communication, service and end result were all excellent. Very tidy work and left no mess - bonus! Would definitely recommend and use again should the occasion arise.

The job was a small one, to replace a tile and check the roof for any other defects. In contrast to other companies I tried to contact I received a phone call within 48 hours, the work was arranged to suit my timetable and carried out in timely and professional manner.

We needed to renew and replace our guttering, facing board and soffits, front and back. Colin and his team did an excellent job from start to finish, with a very high standard of workmanship.

When ridge tiles had been blown of due to a very bad storm, I had no hesitation in ‘phoning Colin, (I’ve used his company before) he came out within an hour, explained in a professional and friendly way what needed to be done and true to his word, a few days later, his men arrived to do the work, they were very polite and friendly and got the work done. A couple of ridge tiles came off the roof in the bad weather between Christmas and New Year. Colin came out the same day as I phoned to have a look and provide quote. I had seen work carried out by L&E Roofing on a house nearby and through all stages the work looked good so when my chimney roughcast needed repair I contacted Colin. His response with the estimate was very quick and efficient. He always kept me fully informed of each stage of work from scaffolding, materials and job progress. Colin and the team did a roof repair to our block of flats, replacing all broken tiles, ridges, guttering, flashing etc. They also painted all new cast iron guttering and downpipes. They discovered cracked rendering on one of the chimneys which they promptly repaired. This fixed a leak which other roofers had been unable to resolve. Colin's communication and professionalism was second to none. He sent us daily updates and photos tracking the progress of the work. From first contact through to the work being carried out, L & E Roofing were first class. Clear communication on when they come to assess work, when and how long they would be on site, advise re work required with options and clear costings. The work that was carried out was to replace the Welsh slate under Velux window, remove all rusty ridge straps and supply and fit new galvanised ones and to fit back a lead capping piece which had fallen off. All valleys were painted , lead gutters cleaned out and all debris removed. A tidy job.
All the work was carried out by Darren and Dillon who worked consciously, were very polite and competent. They are a credit to the business.

Colin was recommended to us by a close friend, and when he came to quote we realised that he'd been here 15 years before for work on the rhones. Good to get a company with a long established reputation.
We needed some repairs to valleys and chimney stack, and had some slipped slates. We also wanted our flat roof renewed before it started to cause problems, and to have some insulation panels added to try to cut our heating bills. He came back to us very quickly with a good price and was able to start work within a few weeks. The roofers were reliable and friendly, and we got daily photos from Colin of the work as it progressed (very helpful, as we can't get up there to see it for ourselves). The work was done on time and on budget - he even got the guys to fix a leaking gutter I just spotted during the works.
Only issue is the delay in getting the scaffolding down - but that's contracted to another company and they have been affected by Covid so I'm not upset about it.
We have recommended Colin to neighbours and family for other works.

Had some problems with damp in one of our bedrooms so asked L and E Roofing to take a look, turns out the whole outside wall was damp, and they identified lots of problems with the wall, parts of the roof, a chimney that need resurfacing and vegetation growing from the wall.

Couldn't be happier with the work, all of the problema above were dealt with. The work was done very quickly and the guys were very professional throughout amd we were impressed with how tidy the area was after they left each night. The nature of the problem meant that they were working in our elderly neighbours garden, and they were very respectful towards her.

Had roughcasting replaced in a particularly awkward place. Colin came and gave a very reasonable quote. His workers came when he said they would. Due to location of damaged rendering they had to work off neighbour's roof. They treated the job with respect and took videos for me to show neighbours the work done and the fact their roof was intact after works to their satisfaction. They actually found issues with the flashing on neighbours roof which they repaired. After works they tidied up as completely as they could. During works Colin's workers were courteous and answered any queries.
Neighbours have commented on the job, both the works done and the matching of the rendering. One neighbour in particular asked about the East Lothian Trust a Trader sticker on Colin's works vans.

We encountered numerous problems with a flat roof and skylight installed by the builder of our new extension.

Replacing cast iron gutters and painting facias and down pipes. Excellent job Colin and his team were very professional. I would use L & E Roffing Contractors again and would recommend his firm to anyone looking for a roofer.

L & E Roofing renewed a large flat roof, replaced my ridge, fitted vent tiles and installed uPVC trims on the front and rear roof verge.

When Colin from L & E first came to quote for the work I was very impressed with his knowledge and professionalism. Initially he quoted me for installation of a new rubber membrane on the flat roof and then subsequently for the ridge and verge. The quote was very reasonable for the work getting done.
They first came to do the flat roof which was completed over a few days. I am very happy with the quality of workmanship and with the guys that did the work.
They then came back to carry out the work on the ridge and verge. They installed a new dry ridge system which involved removal of the whole old ridge and cement work. They then explained to me that a plastic "tree" was installed onto which the new ridge tiles are fastened. Unlike the old cement fixed ridge, this should be maintenance free.
When installing the verge trims they actually spent a day putting some up which then then removed the next day as they weren't 100% satisfied with how they were sitting. I was very impressed with this as it showed their professionalism and commitment to the quality of their work.
Due to this, the work ended up taking them longer than they expected and they actually did much more than originally quoted for. I was more than happy to pay for this extra work but Colin refused to take a penny more than he had quoted.
I would have L & E Roofing back in AA heartbeat if I need anything else done!

Accepted quote (excellent value for money) and arranged to complete the work in a few days which we very happy with as we had a leaking roof when it rained.

Word done and he did extra jobs which we did not ask him to quote for (cleared the gutters) so can not recommend Colin and his guys enough. We will 100% be using them again when required.

After high winds some ridge tiles had come loose and we needed all the ridge tiles checked as we were unhappy with previous work by another roofer.
Colin came promptly and discussed the job, advising that all the ridge needed removed, old mortar cleaned off and then reattached.

Really small job on a leaking drainpipe which lots of tradesman might not have thought was worth their while, but Colin came out no problem. Fixed it on the spot and then even used the hosepipe to check the repair had worked. Friendly, helpful and always responds to emails. Would highly recommend.

The roughcasting had come loose on my chimney due to the weather.
I convinced myself the whole house was needing re-done and was letting my mind run wild about the expense.
I phoned L and E at 3pm and he arrived first thing next morning to assess the job.
Mr Edwards quickly assured me that the job wasn't as big as I had first thought and talked me out of having the whole house done.
An estimate was sent within 2 hours and upon acceptance, Mr Edward's had his staff along making safe the loose roughcast as I have small kids running wild.
2 days later the scaffolding arrived followed by the squad from L and E who had the job done in a day and a half.
I'm delighted with the work done, overall cost and the time it took to complete.

I contacted Colin when some harling became loose and started falling to the ground. He arrived the next day to look at it and immediately went up on to the roof and made it as safe as possible as a temporary measure. He showed us photos of the problems and also the broken roof tiles where the harling had smashed down onto them. He sent an estimate that evening, which we accepted and agreed he would start the work asap. Unfortunately the weather quickly caused even more damage and Colin and his men arrived within a couple of days to start work. They were quick, tidy, efficient and very friendly. Colin kept us informed of the progress by email and photos each evening. They tidied up as they went along and we are extremely happy with the work. We would definately recommend them. We needed a whole new roof, repairs to wood, all new slates, chimneys to be fixed - the works. Colin inspected our roof very quickly and gave us a comprehensive account of what needed done with a quote sent across to us that evening. Since we live in a conservation area, we needed planning permission for the slate change; Colin was very knowledgeable about which slates would be appropriate and in keeping with the house and area. After receiving planning permission, Colin was able to start quickly and his team were on site as expected and immediately got on with the job. Despite the bad weather (snow, wind and hail), Colin and his team worked hard and got our roof done to a high standard. Colin also recommended approved traders such as a joiner and painter which we used for associated works. Happy with all of his work and his recommendations. Colin is a professional and we trust his work and his word. Will use for all our roofing needs.

A late review for a big job completed last summer. The guys completely replaced all timber fascias and fitted new guttering. Colin then identified the underlying reason for the rot - the original roof design trapped water and had started leaking as the ‘waterproof’ felt deteriorated over the years. The guys re-profiled the roof and replaced the bottom third of the sarking and felt. Colin tried to keep costs down and very clearly explained what needed to be done and what didn’t. All work was completed quickly to a high standard for a reasonable fixed price. We then got them to install two new Velux windows. That turned out to be a difficult job because of the type of tiles, but in the end they got it fixed so we were all happy. Colin gets stuck in himself (he's not a paperwork boss) and his guys are cheery hard workers, particularly if you keep them sweet with plenty of tea and biscuits... :-) They clearly know a lot about roofs and have high standards. I would absolutely recommend them, particularly if you have an awkward problem that doesn’t want to go away and you want it fixed properly.

Colin and his guys resurfaced two dormer roofs which an incompetent tradesman had previously 'fixed'.

Difficult to give an accurate rating regarding cost, quality of product etc as roofers tend to vary wildly and sometimes issues can develop further down the line, however; they were friendly, knowledgeable and efficient and would hire again.

Colin and his team removed old cladding from the exterior of the house and replaced it with new. They also resolved a long standing window issue with a great fix. The work was organised and efficient and left in a tidy state. Great job and would recommend highly to anyone needing similar work.

The garage roof was leaking into the porch and Colin noticed that the last roofer had not addressed the fact that the angle of runaway was incorrect causing a build up of rain water causing the leak over a long period of time. A quote was given for a new rubber roof to replace the old roofing felt. This felt was removed and taken away all tidied up and new roof efficiently laid in one day as promised.

L&E have checked maintained the roof on a 200yr old property in Edinburgh twice annually for many years and have been utterly reliable. In particular Colin has only rarely ever suggested that additional work involving payment was needed - meaning that the check up, whilst not cheap, is good value for money.
When additional work was eventually needed (replacement of lead concealed guttering) this was performed to a high standard.
Colin and team recently reroofed part of an old cottage in Perthshire. In contrast to other companies, he was happy to source matching recycled slates for the job which was carried out to a very high standard, maintaining the original appearance of the building at a significantly lower cost than local firms.

We called Colin to look at a leaking roof above a lower bay window, a leaky gutter joint and to clean the gutters for ourselves and our neighbours. We were also concerned that some rendering was cracked on our side wall but Colin was able to reassure us that this was fine. After providing us with a very reasonable estimate the work was carried quickly. The firm came exactly when the said they would and we are very pleased with the result. We cannot fault the service and they were so helpful and friendly. We would definitely recommend them and use them again.

Work was undertaken very efficiently by most pleasant workers who cleaned up after them. All debris was removed from site. Colin told us the work would take 2.5 days to complete which proved to be an exact. estimate.

Colin was only one of the three trusted traders roofers I contacted to actually get back to me. He responded to my initial enquiry within 15 minutes and came to assess the work within 2 days. He had his team out the next week.
His team worked very efficiently and took only a few hours to do what we needed - general repointing works, replacing missing slates, clearing our gutters, replacing a broken lead flashing, repairing a leaking cast iron gutter and re sealing some edges of our flat roof. His pricing is very, very reasonable - genuine value for money. We have since approved a second quote for some additional minor building work that his team can also undertake. We hope to sell our house this year but if that doesn’t happen we’ll definitely be asking him to completely replace our flat roof. Would not hesitate to recommend him and his team.

We asked Colin to have a look at a long standing problem we've been having with water leaking into a downstairs bathroom from a balcony above. He stripped the floor of the balcony out, KC Joinery replaced the rotten joists and floor and Colin and crew re-felted on top of that.
