I have used Derek's Electrical Services twice - in Sep'23 for a bathroom ceiling light installation and Jul'26 for a kitchen cabinet light repair - and on both occasions he has been a pleasure to do business with. Easy communication via WhatsApp is ideal. I am happy to provide this recommendation and will use him myself in the future.

Work was for new white light switches (9). 3 pin electric floor sockets (2).
New Hallway light to attach to old fitting, which he asked for me to purchase from Amazon. No bother doing that, other folk might question that.

A new and less noisy toilet extraction fan. This used the existing fitting as not to damage the tiles which was good.

The old sockets were old style gold and black trending from the ‘80’s.

Attended at the set time and completed work in two 0745 morning visits.

Before starting work an estimate was given, where this rating starts to fall.

Discussed that the 3 pin sockets (2) were not in the quote. It was in the email worksheet from me. Me paying for the light wasn’t defined as being excluded from the estimate.

Come the invoice it was significantly more than the agreed price.

I detailed in emails exactly what was required prior to the work starting. Got an estimate on that email worksheet. I agreed to go ahead.

When the invoice came in, I queried the amount and asked for a breakdown in labour and items and why it was over the estimate.

No reply to the estimate overrun but got the breakdown by item which matched the final fee.

I know an estimate is an estimate but this was a basic lighting and socket replacement job which was easy to define and cost.

I have more detailed, and expensive electric work but doubt I will engage based on my estimate experience.

He got the work done in a professional manner. Fixed the new extraction fan from droning on.

Derek replaced an extractor fan in my wetroom.

Having previously done some small jobs for us during a bathroom refit which we were very happy with, we got Derek back to install downlights in the kitchen and utility as well as an external security light.
Derek responded very quickly to our request for a quote, arrived as promised, talked us through the options and took time to explain things clearly. We’re very happy with the work that’s been done. Derek put in lights and a ring doorbell at our front door. We had a bit of an issue with our ring doorbell and so had to order a new one as well as our plasterer delaying his side slightly but Derek was really patient and came back a few times to do his part.
