Business Information
My name is John Mullan and I'm a retired fire officer with 30 years' service and an additional 16 years as a Building and Facilities Manager in Glasgow's City Park.
I sell and fit interlinked smoke and fire detectors conforming to Scottish Government regulations introduced in February 2022 and now required in all homes by law. Insurance companies also invariably have a clause in the contract to the effect that the property complies with Building Regulations.
These radio frequency alarms are installed at very reasonable prices, typically £140 to £175, without mess or the need for expensive electrical work, and usually within a day or two of ordering. I'm happy to give an estimate on the phone and can take calls between 9.00am and 9.00pm.
Please see my reviews. I have never had a customer who was dissatisfied with my work or prices, and regularly receive referrals from them for friends and neighbours.

I needed two old smoke alarms removed and new ones fitted to my home to comply with new Government guidelines. When I phoned John Mullan he was clear and upfront about the cost of the products, which included fitting and VAT. I was surprised and delighted when he agreed to visit my home the very next day to fit the alarms, and he fitted these quickly and without any mess. John is a very pleasant man and a skilled trader. He explained in easy to understand terms how to use the products, e.g., what to do in the event the alarm should sound and how to reset it, when I should phone the emergency services if I felt it necessary, and he suggested I phone his number if I thought there was a fault with one of the alarms. I would have no hesitation in recommending him to my friends and family for similar work.

I responded to a flyer put through my door. When I was ready to install the new type smoke alarms, I phoned. I spoke with John Mullan right away - I didn't have to leave a message and he had time the same day. He explained the product, the service offered and the cost. He was at my door well within the time he said he would be there. He explained what he was going to do, what he was doing and what the procedures were regarding the product. Called John Mullan to have interlinked fire alarm system fitted. He was pleasant and provided the necessary information and was available to fit the system on a short notice.
He worked efficiently to remove my old system and instal the new system, bringing all the necessary elements and was happy to explain how it worked.

I contacted John to get the alarms fitted which are now required for all homes. John responded immediately and in fact was able to fit my job in the same day. He is very professional and an extremely nice person. I would have no hesitation in recommending John to anyone. His prices are superb.

We have asked John to do jobs round our apartment in Glasgow for years now. As we both don’t live near family, John is an absolute hero and helps us so much with jobs we can’t do ourselves! I honestly couldn’t recommend him more, always a pleasure to have around and we are really thankful to have met & know John. Mr Mullan arrived the the time agreed. He came prepared with steps to access the high ceilings with my home. The work was carried out quickly and with great efficiency. He was able to answer questions and to provide advice.

John fitted the new interconnecting smoke detectors for both myself and my mum’s homes. He was very prompt, did the job quickly, left no mess and charged a very reasonable prices.
He also built some wardrobes for me a few years ago and again last week for another room. Yet again a great job done and I highly recommend John. Would definitely use him again.
