Business Information
My name is John Mullan and I'm a retired fire officer with 30 years' service and an additional 16 years as a Building and Facilities Manager in Glasgow's City Park.
I sell and fit interlinked smoke and fire detectors conforming to Scottish Government regulations introduced in February 2022 and now required in all homes by law. Insurance companies also invariably have a clause in the contract to the effect that the property complies with Building Regulations.
These radio frequency alarms are installed at very reasonable prices, typically £140 to £175, without mess or the need for expensive electrical work, and usually within a day or two of ordering. I'm happy to give an estimate on the phone and can take calls between 9.00am and 9.00pm.
Please see my reviews. I have never had a customer who was dissatisfied with my work or prices, and regularly receive referrals from them for friends and neighbours.

Johns done a variety of jobs for us over last few years; fitting lights, smoke alarms and building flat pack furniture. All fine to a good standard. However he cancelled our last job suddenly, but accepted work from a friend of mine. We feel very let down by this and can’t recommend him now.

I needed two old smoke alarms removed and new ones fitted to my home to comply with new Government guidelines. When I phoned John Mullan he was clear and upfront about the cost of the products, which included fitting and VAT. I was surprised and delighted when he agreed to visit my home the very next day to fit the alarms, and he fitted these quickly and without any mess. John is a very pleasant man and a skilled trader. He explained in easy to understand terms how to use the products, e.g., what to do in the event the alarm should sound and how to reset it, when I should phone the emergency services if I felt it necessary, and he suggested I phone his number if I thought there was a fault with one of the alarms. I would have no hesitation in recommending him to my friends and family for similar work.

He came to look at my flat and was able to fit them there and then. I found the whole process simple and easy to understand and John was very professional. Mr Mullan was recommended to me by a friend and in turn I have recommended him to two friends. I found Mr Mullan had a very cheery personality and was very efficient when carrying out his work. His explanation of how the alarms worked was very easy to understand.

I responded to a flyer put through my door. When I was ready to install the new type smoke alarms, I phoned. I spoke with John Mullan right away - I didn't have to leave a message and he had time the same day. He explained the product, the service offered and the cost. He was at my door well within the time he said he would be there. He explained what he was going to do, what he was doing and what the procedures were regarding the product. He was genuine, knowledgeable and very kind. And he introduced me to the benefits of Trusted Trader which I'll make use of.

I called on the Saturday and the items were fitted on the Tuesday.
John provided high quality items, fitted them securely, provided a certificate and gave helpful advice.
He even let me very quickly paint underneath where the old smoke alarm was taken away before fitting the new one. This was very much appreciated.
John was punctual, works with integrity and has excellent people skills. I highly recommend his service.

Phoned him in the morning and told him what I required. He said he could supply and fit my requirements and he could come and do the work at 1.30pm that day. We have asked John to do jobs round our apartment in Glasgow for years now. As we both don’t live near family, John is an absolute hero and helps us so much with jobs we can’t do ourselves! John fitted the new interconnecting smoke detectors for both myself and my mum’s homes. He was very prompt, did the job quickly, left no mess and charged a very reasonable prices.
He also built some wardrobes for me a few years ago and again last week for another room. Yet again a great job done and I highly recommend John. Would definitely use him again.

I continue to carry on with my smoke alarm business, which does not involve heavy work and can be done using lightweight electric screwdrivers which are easily gripped.
The work I carried out for her friend, a previous customer, involved replacing two screws on a door intercom (not fitted by me) and was carried out without charge as it involved only a few minutes of my time.
I'm am so disappointed with this negative review as I always had a good relationship, with very fair pricing, with this customer, and am a loss to understand the reason for it.
