Damaged mullion removed and new mullion fitted and dressed to match. Rab and John who were the stonemasons on this job were courteous and professional at all times during this work. The finished product was excellent and we will certainly use Newtown Stone Repairs Ltd for any similar future work required.

Roof repairs: including restoration of stone-work; re-rendering and repair of a roof-level gable wall; re-bedding of chimney-pots; restoration and waterproofing of their base on the chimney-stack. Window repairs: including re-mortaring and re-masticating front and rear, along with replacement of decaying lintels and re-painting of all windows.
All roof and stone work was carried out efficiently and to a high standard, and Newtown Stone Repairs were also really efficient and helpful in organising good tradesmen to complete window-work and painting. Additionally, Newtown Stone Repairs explained work and requirements clearly at every stage. Their Director, Paul, his colleagues, and the other tradesmen were entirely reliable and a pleasure to work with.

Very happy with Newtown Stone Repairs. We engaged them to undertake a sizeable stope repair project on our 1890s Edinburgh tenement. The project included replacing a significant number of full stones, lithomex repairs, stone cleaning and gutter clearing. Their attention to detail and craft was too quality and the masons are polite & friendly. I were particularly impressed by how clean and organised they kept the on-street worksite which minimised distribution to our neighbours. Their commutation was quick and responsive.
Would be happy to work with them again.
Thanks.

Over the years our 1906 listed building in the conservation area of Leith has suffered badly from the vagaries of the weather, traffic fume pollution and general wear and tear. We began to notice fragments of stone work detaching from the upper facade and our concern was that this was becoming dangerous. We approached several stone repair companies about this concern, mostly they were fine, some less so.
However Paul McDonald from Newtown Stone Repairs Ltd. calmly explained what was required to make the masonary safe and how this could be achieved. We were very aware that this was a small relatively new and young firm but were assured that they had the skills and knowledge necessary to undertake and complete the task. We were not looking for restoration in fact the brief was to 'make safe' but that said what we ended up with was to our minds restoration work of a high order.
Paul McDonald and the stone mason Craig Brown and stone restorer Craig Morris 'Mo' soon proved to be highly skilled craftsmen in fact we were incredibly impressed with the care and attention to detail they put into the work . They obviously took great pride in the work they did and this showed in the finish.
Unfortunatly the building is not fully repaired/restored, at this stage we limited the work to the upper third but if we are ever able to complete the job we would without hesitation use Newtown Stone Repairs Ltd.for this.

I had two doorsteps replaced with stone as the original wooden ones had rotted and allowed flood water into the house. The work to be done was explained to me in detail and carried out to a high standards The workmen arrived at the agreed time and were polite and friendly. The workmanship was of a high standard and, hallelujah, they did a good job cleaning up the stone dust when they were finished. Very important!

Needed an exterior step replacing - even though it was a relatively small job Paul took the time for a long phone call to discuss the problem and clearly lay out our options. The quote we got was good and communications were excellent - friendly and professional.
Also needed some ironwork done and Paul took it upon himself to get us a few different quotes for that and again laid out our options clearly and made sure we were happy with all aspects of the work. We also set a tight schedule as we had a baby on the way and the step was becoming hazardous. Paul made the effort to get it in for us before the due date which was very much appreciated.
Overall highly recommended - the work done seems excellent and can't fault the customer service.

Newtown Stone Repairs repointed three outside walls of my Victorian basement flat. I'm very happy with the results, the quality of the workmanship was first class.
Paul and his team were punctual, professional, tidy and I would definitely recommend them. Paul was also flexible enough to fit me in between jobs which was a bonus.

Paul did a great job repointing our garden wall and replacing the coping stones that had deteriorated over the last 100 years. The standard of work was very good with meticulous attention to detail. He was very clear about the costing and all aspects of his communication were excellent.

Newton Stone Repairs fixed a crack in the stone work of my kitchen window. Even though it was a small job they took time and care to make sure I got a good colour match for an almost invisible repair. They provided a professional service in a friendly manner and I would recommend them.

A mullion had cracks in it on both sides and repair was not possible. Paul came and measured up and provided a quote which, compared with other quotes, was very acceptable. Because of his work load a start on the work would be several weeks away and there was also a delay from the quarry for the stone. Paul kept us up to date with the expected delivery of the stone and when he could start work. When he did eventually arrive, the work was done in a day (plus an hour the next morning) to a very high standard. He and his team were very tidy and cleaned up when they had finished, including the inevitable pallet that the new stone arrived on. We would have no hesitation in using Paul again or recommending him to anybody who wants a professional job of work carried out.

We had our old brick garden walls repaired and repointed; new coping stones cast and fitted; and a stone wall and windowsills repaired. The quality of work was excellent. Paul’s focus is quality of workmanship and open and honest communication. We welcomed this approach and found him and Mo a pleasure to deal with. We asked questions and made requests and these were always listened to and acted on. They were very considerate and respectful, tidying up every night and taking great care not to damage flower beds and pond.
Attention to detail was second to none: down to the mix of mortar used which is a sandier colour and really offsets our old bricks and the Lithomex colours carefully chosen to match our existing sills. The end result is really beautiful. Nobody else who came to quote for these jobs discussed these aspects with us.
Several neighbours have commented on how industrious and careful Mo was and what a good quality job it is; some have even approached Paul to carry out work for them.
Costs were more than other quotes but, for us, the quality of workmanship evidenced in the end result and the ease of dealing with Paul and Mo over a month-long project made it worthwhile.

Masonry stone replacement and repair across multiple areas of the property.
Paul and his team were extremely professional, always on time, hard working, tidy and respectful. Paul was very responsive, easy to communicate with and guided us through the process with sound recommendations and information. He was also patient with us when decisions had to be made.
The end result is excellent. The repairs sit very well against the original stonework.
