I have been using Contract Heating for many years for the provision and servicing of my gas boilers. They have always been highly efficient, extremely helpful and very friendly when dealing with my requirements. Recently, I had a new Ariston boiler installed. It was done in a day by Rob and Mark and was followed up, at my request, by two visits from Craig who adjusted and explained its settings and operation to its somewhat confused new owner!! The ladies in the office have also been extremely pleasant and helpful when I have called. Thank you very much.

We have used Contract Heating Ltd to service our boiler in our house for the last 3-4 years. We are now remodelling our kitchen and we employed Contract Heating to renew our boiler and adjust the pipework to relocate the new boiler in a new position in the kitchen along with a new radiator . They undertook all the works in a very professional manner. The installation team for our new boiler was led by Rob Hamilton, and he had Mark and Austin working with him. They were all polite, Covid respectful and their standard of work was excellent. They were in our house for 3 days and always kept their work area clean and tidy. Every day they cleaned up after them and turned up every day at the time they said they would. I have had a similar positive experience during the three years of servicing our old boiler. I have got to know a few of the Contract Heating engineers over the last few years and it is always to good to hear reports from them about the high regard they have for Contract Heating as a company. I would recommend Contract Heating unreservedly.

We have used Contract Heating for safety certification in 4 rental properties we own for over 10 years. The service they have provided is above exemplary. The staff are knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The service is delivered with utmost efficiency. I cannot fault them and highly recommend Contract Heating.

Short version - If you are a small scale private landlord (I have <10 flats) you are not the kind of customer ContractHeating want or will look after these days.

Longer version - I used their landlord services for about 10 years and they used to be fine but I have got more and more unhappy with their service as they have grown. Boiler service contracts - as soon as you have one year where it costs them more than your annual premium they do not renew. DD debits continued to be taken even when service contract cancelled BY THEM. Their quotes for new boilers are not competitive in my experience. I did have them replace one and it was a nightmare with them having to come back several times because of issues with the flue siting, eventually resulting in me having to have the boiler relocated. Recent electrical fault is final straw, fault not even identified and unnecessary, unrelated work was done and then quoted another day's investigative work being required which could not be scheduled by them for approx 2 weeks, meantime tenants with no power. Another electrical firm identified the problem in 5 minutes and fixed it in about 30 mins on a same day call out. ContractHeating also wanted to charge me for an EICR which reported a fail due to the fault I called them out for and they did not fix! When I complained ContractHeating boss Pat said he was happy with his guy's work, but they would not charge me for that visit. Then when the next routine safety check came up on another flat a few weeks later he asked did I still want to work with them. I said OK, because I had not looked at alternatives - this stuff is just a chore. Then he came back and said well they would rather not continue our relationship. Why didn't he just say that in the first place? So agreed that will I take my business elsewhere, and having looked at alternatives there are certainly several that offer better value for money on the face of it, and the recent service standards from ContractHeating can't be hard to beat.

Removal of old gas central heating boiler and installation of a new one. The people working with this company were all very professional, communicative and helpful. This includes the staff answering the telephone, the engineers and the joiner. They turned-up when they said they would, kept me informed about progress and next steps, and they were careful about tidiness. The initial cost estimate provided was based on a thorough on-site survey and conversation. The final cost was just below the estimate. In summary, very professional and very reliable.

Required repair to boiler . All done extremely efficiently from initial call , with prompt visit to undertake the repair. The engineer was very pleasant and mindful of the covid restrictions. Boiler up and running within the hour. Very impressed with service throughout .

Boiler replacement went really well, with minimum disruption, guys onsite Rob and Mark were fantastic, were really good with my dog, all steps were explained before, during and after, clear instructions received on how to operate the new boiler/cube/app. Communication from back office/customer service was prompt, super helpful and friendly, I am really glad to be their customer. I have used Contract Heating in my own home and in a church manse for several years and have always had excellent service. At Christmas 2020 the manse heating boiler came to the end of its life. Despite the obvious difficulties of timing and weather (external boiler room) a new boiler was fitted within a day and heating to the manse restored. A further visit was scheduled to install new controls and flush the system which also went well. I was completely satisfied with the care and attention given by the Design Engineer Craig Hunter and the two Installation Engineers, Alan and Dean. Covid procedures were properly applied and the manse family have expressed their appreciation of the respectful way in which work within every room of the manse was carried out. I can recommend Contract Heating without hesitation.

Rob Hamilton and Austen from Contract Heating completed a Combi Boiler installation and conversion. From start to finish the work and the results were professional, prompt, and above best expectations. They even left us with heating and hot water after Day-1 before continuing the next day. I had forgotten all about the annual boiler service until Contract Heating sent a friendly email reminder, I booked an appointment and Graham arrived a couple of days later at a time to suit me. The staff in the office whether you speak to them by phone or email are extremely friendly and helpful - the engineers who attend are always very polite, smartly dressed, friendly, professional and efficient, they tidy up as they go and leave the house in the same condition as when they arrive. You can also track your engineer to get an indication of arrival time. I would highly recommend Contract Heating.

Our central heating boiler had broken down and we phoned Contract Heating. An engineer was sent the same day and identified the cause of the breakdown. Parts were ordered and fitted within 3 days. Our boiler was also serviced during the visits.
The engineer, Craig, who appeared on both occasions was courteous, considerate and abided by the rules raised by the Covid 19 pandemic.
When he left after the second visit, the boiler was working very efficiently.

Graham Pryde, the engineer, carried out maintenance on our gas boiler. He was very thorough and courteous. We also really appreciated the tracking system which helped us know when the engineer was coming within the morning window. I am delighted with the new Ariston boiler I have just had fitted by Rob Hamilton and Lewis. They did a great job (very professional and efficient) while being friendly and helpful and explaining everything very clearly. For added convenience, you can even control this boiler from your phone with an app if you like! When I drag myself into the 21th Century (sometime before 2021 hopefully) I'll be able to do that. Ryan Graham replaced our fuse board to a new and updated one, throughout he kept us informed of the process and whilst working he observed Covid 19 regulations,which gave reassurance.
He managed to complete the task on time and cleared away all debris and dust.

Contract Heating provide a very professional service all the way through from initial phone call, to booking of appointment, arriving on time and completing the job. Ross responded our request for an early visit by making us his first job of the day. He carried out all the safety checks very efficiently, even waiting until we returned with a new electrical appliance from John Lewis to be PAT tested .

Replacement boiler. Straightforward estimate and prompt answer of questions related to. Engineers personable and knowledgeable and courteous trades personnel.
There was one arguably minor hiccup regarding replacement of boiler housing, however, in the bigger picture this was resolved promptly, efficiently and pleasingly.

Serviced and repaired a Boiler and Gas Fire. The response was excellent starting with the lady on the desk (Leanne) who directed me to a button on the boiler that got the System restarted and reassured me that it hadn't conked out. I booked a plumber (Andrew) who arrived promptly to fix both appliances and offer some valuable advice on how to maintain them in the future. All reasonably priced.
Couldn't ask for more!

We just had a new boiler installed by Contract heating in our house in North Berwick. We have previously used Contact heating for the past 14 years in a flat in Edinburgh and always found them helpful and efficient. They are tidy workers and ensure all carpets including the stairs were covered during their work. They took time to explain what the work was as it went on and were excellent at making the control of the boiler seem simple. We felt we were always consulted when appropriate.

We had a new Ariston Boiler put in l have no complaints about the work that Rob had done the two days he was My only complete was with the joiner l cannot complete about his work it was his reliability.but well done Rob you are a star ⭐

Got an email in the morning telling us when the engineer would arrive, and their is a tracking facility so you can see where the engineer is so you don't have to wait in all day. . He fitted a new radiator in our spare room, and serviced our boiler Quick, tidy and efficient, pleasent bloke to chat too, and the dog loved him. Have used this company before and have always had excellent service.

Do annual gas checks and recently came to check a boiler pressure loss. Graham Quinn the engineer was really personable, great communication, and knowledgeable. Highly trustworthy. No doubt you pay for the quality service otherwise would have been five stars all round!!

I first contacted Contract Heating when my old boiler started to malfunction because they came recommended by neighbours. They subsequently fitted a new boiler and have maintained this for the past few years for a what seems a very reasonable price. Their service is excellent both out in the field and in the office - prompt, efficient and reliable - with a tracking app to let you know when they will arrive. I am glad to know that they have my back especially when winter comes.

After my combi boiler had broken down on tuesday i contacted contract heating i spoke to jodie she couldnt have been more helpful she aranged an engineer to assess my boiler next day,unfortunately the boiler wasn't worth repairing as it was over 10 years old,and due to the great service from contract heating and jodie i had a new boiler fitted promptly the very next day.

This is the second year I have used them and again impressed with their service.
Boiler service was arranged swiftly and at very reasonable cost.
Rob the engineer was on time and under the current COVID situation wearing mask and gloves which I appreciated as he is possibly going from household to household this is what I would be expecting him to wear.
Bearing in mind some other companies do not even have their engineers wear masks when coming into households.
Rob was professional, courteous and one has no complaints.

Contact Heating carried out various works on our central heating system and in our kitchen. The company is most efficient in everything they undertook, and the plumbers involved were prompt, knowledgeable and well versed. Old boiler removed and New Ariston Genus 1 combi boiler fitted.
Fitters Rob and Colin arrived exactly on time at 8am and were polite and organised. PPE of face masks, gloves and shoe covers were worn. They worked solidly through until the job was completed at half past three which I thought was exceptionally quick. The boiler had been neatly fitted and re - boxed in to the kitchen unit, copper pipework installed and instruction manuals neatly laid out. The whole area was clean and tidy and outside paths had been swept clean and all old parts etc. removed. I have used Contract Heating before and been very pleased with the service but Rob and Colin were exceptionally good and I would have no hesitation in recommending them and their company to others. Indeed, on the strength of today's work I already have to both my neighbour and a work colleague.

I recently used Contract Heating to re-sit my ACS gas qualifications.

I have used Contract Heating for a few years. Always excellent Service. Yesterday morning I telephoned as the pressure in my boiler had dropped and there was a leak. Graham came within a couple of hours with a mask and gloves on due to the Coronavirus. He fixed the problem promptly, carried out a full service as it was due at the end of the month. He also went back to the office to get another tap and showed me how to adjust it if the pressure dropped.
He was extremely polite and efficient and explained exactly what the problem was.
I have no hesitation in recommending this company.

Fault in boiler and central heating system presented problem in identification and remedy. One approach involved sourcing a replacement part from Italy - difficult to source as pandemic took hold. That didn't solve the problem so as soon as lockdown allowed a further visit - again with face mask and every courtesy - traced the solution.
Good communications from the office and site engineering helped a lot.

Despite the Covid-19 lockdown, Contract Heating were able to provide and fit a replacement combi-boiler for us at extremely short notice - within a couple of days.

This was a long and complicated job. Connor was patient, good natured, skilled and efficient. He helped me clear up and put the furniture back in a different configuration so that was an unexpected bonus.

Combi boiler installed to replace old boiler, old hot water tank removed, chemical flush of all radiators (also 20 years old). Was a two day job so no heating to look forward to on coldest night of the winter. Rob went the extra mile, helped out by Colin, by remaining on site up till 6.30pm to ensure we would have heating. This was very much appreciated. The next day Rob & Liam spent many hours working on a very thorough chemical flush of all radiators. Overall excellent customer service and a very thorough and high quality job carried out.

I can say that the level of service that I received - during service of old boiler and purchase/fitting of the new boiler - has been excellent.

I have used Contract Heating since 2007, they do all my HMO certificates, boiler and central heating repairs and replacements. I have always found them extremely professional and quick to respond. The administrative staff are efficient and helpful as are the engineers and others who carry out the work. I have just had a new boiler installed with new radiators, it was all done very quickly.

Swift response and friendly. I trust these guys to make sure the gas and electricity is safe in the flat I rent out and will get them back in future for relevant small jobs.

4 years ago, after various heating engineers and bills, I went to Contract Heating to assess whether I needed a new boiler, heating system etc and from the start, they were polite and efficient when I called and arranged an engineer to assess things. I wasn't sure they could be trusted then and the promises and contract seemed too good to be true. They first of all saved me money as they found an ongoing fault in my boiler and repaired it. That was great as my boiler had been seen by 3 other companies who didn't find the fault. Then they offered me a contract with included service and parts and each year, the service engineer has without fail sorted some minor thing out, replaced parts without costs and been totally on time and efficient. I have passed their name to several friends, some of whom are now their clients and feel like me that they are pretty damn good.

Having been using contract heating service for few years on both small & large portfolios found their engineers are helpful, professional, polite. On top of that they have a good team in their office, and in particular Jodie, whom I found goes that extra mile to keep the customers happy.

New Ariston boiler installed. Excellent service. Very efficient, quick and courteous staff. Chris took the time to patiently explain to me all that I needed to know and left me feeling confident.

The standard of work was first class, the Engineers, Rob, Austin and Adam, were very knowledgeable, explained everything as the work was getting done. All the waste materials were removed and our house was left very tidy.

The boiler installation was completed cheerfully and efficiently by Chris and Aaron who worked hard and left everything clean and tidy at the end of each day. Chris explained clearly how everything worked when they were finished. They are both a credit to the Company and the tenant was happy to have them in his home.

Contract heating was recommended by a friend when I needed the gas boiler and electrical equipment inspected.

Contacted Contract Heating via email on their website and received a reply within half an hour. Very efficient and friendly staff member for booking the appointment who helped with all my queries.

Engineer who came out kept me up to date of his arrival by phoning an hour before. I was also able to keep track via their app that had been sent to me. When he arrived he was very polite and got to work immediately. Was finished within the hour.

Certificates and report were sent within 48hours. Would highly recommend.

Following a call to report a faint smell of gas,a visit from an engineer was arranged for a time slot I was available to attend. A replacement valve was required,which was ordered and fitted the following day,minimising any inconvenience.I have used this company for a number of years now and always found them reliable and helpful

Boiler install - efficiently, effectively done.

The work was carried through to a high standard. Unexpected difficulties with the site were resolved very effectively and an all round good job made of the boiler installation. The tradesman were very professional and helpful.

We had a replacement boiler fitted. There were several problems to be overcome, as the outlet hole had to be adjusted, and the boiler housing needed to be repositioned.
This work was carried out by Rob Hamilton and his assistant Lewis. They were very efficient, courteous, and professional. They left our kitchen clean and tidy, and back in its former state. We would be happy to recommend them to anyone who needs similar work carried out.

A broken boiler fixed by an excellent engineeer, Gary, who explained clearly what caused the problem and what repairs were needed. The company was in close touch on when to expect the two visits needed. Price was reasonable. This company is recommended.

Boiler repair and service

Ariston boiler was installed quickly and efficiently. Because I had some difficulty following the instructions for the programming of the system, I contacted office staff on a number of occasions. I found that the advice I received was invariably helpful and given in a patient, clear manner. An engineer was sent specially at no extra cost to help me understand the system.

Repaired and restarted a boiler and showed family members how the system worked properly.
The engineer was very helpful. It was a simple job but invaluable to us.

The engineer was polite, professional and real took the time to explain what he had done and why which helped me understand the issue and possible future issues.
The engineer was very experienced and I will definitely use this company for future boiler work as it was definitely the best service I’ve received in 16 years of living in Edinburgh

Contract Heating carried out several landlord safety checks, both gas and electric, for my HMO property. I was very pleased with the service provided and I will be using them again in the future.

Boiler Installation Saga (summarised):

Pros -
- The Equipment installed is of a very good quality.
- If they make a mess of the installation they will repair any damage to a good standard.

Cons -
- 18 days between reporting a repair they carried out had not worked, to then starting work replacing the boiler.
- 4 days to actually install the boiler. 1 day to install it in the wrong room and 3 to install in the cupboard it should have been in.
- Further 9 weeks for the holes in the wall to be repaired after initially installing the boiler in the bedroom.
- Further 5 weeks of emails, phone calls, written letters, stress and a visit to Citizens Advice Scotland, to eventually receive an invoice that contained any Compensation, in recognition for the shambles that took place.

I could right an essay incorporating all the things I was surprised and unhappy with, but the summary is, there was a complete mess of the installation,
- Leaving me with no working boiler for weeks in December,
- Leaving holes in my bedroom wall for weeks,
- Having to take time off work twice to let the builder in to assess and then repair the holes (interior wall in 2 rooms and exterior wall),
- Leaving me with permanent patches on the exterior wall.

I was incredibly patient with Contract Heating throughout the experience. But repeatedly I was sent invoices that not only offered zero compensation, they at times even included the cost of work that wasn’t carried out (specifically the services of a joiner was invoiced to box in the flue pipe, but I had cancelled the joiner, as I wanted to find my own joiner and have my dealings with Contract Heating over).

I find it insulting that after showing a great deal of understanding and patience, there was repeatedly no offer of fair compensation. The best I received after several attempts equated to 3.6% discount and 2 free services - as I don’t intend on using Contract Heating again, I didn’t feel 2 free services was a serious offer.

In the end I took another morning off work and visited Citizens Advice Scotland for the first time in my life. It took a written letter, sent by recorded delivery, which requested an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Process, if fair compensation wasn't offered - to eventually gain a fair invoice, reflecting the nature of what had taken place.

I would suggest to anyone considering using Contract Heating to make sure they get at least 2 other quotes from competitors before booking them. If you do then hire them and there is anything at all you are not happy with, put it in writing in an email right from the very start and make sure all replies are in writing. Take photos of anything you aren’t happy with too.

Funny enough the answer on how to progress is then found in the copy and paste response the owner has put in every Google review that isn’t 5 stars - have your notes and photos concisely prepared and ready to submit to Edinburgh Trusted Traders and NICEIC. I did not require an ADR, I was eventually offered fair compensation and the matter is finally closed.

I have used Contract Heating for the last 10 years for service and repairs to boiler. I needed to replace the old boiler and work was completed within a day, efficiently and to high standard. Thanks to Alan and Liam for their good work.

Excellent service today from contract heating. Boiler broken down , needed a new part which engineer did not have with him - and it was a Saturday making things tricky. They sourced the part , engineer went and picked it up and came back within half an hour , all fixed perfectly. Great job and really helpful.

Contract Heating gave us unbeatable service when we needed a new central heating boiler installed. I had an Ariston central heating and hot water combi boiler installed and the trader completed the work satisfactorily.

I don't know the value of services as my landlord will be paying for our annual HMO gas flat check. But I would like to live a review for an exceptionally great service by Colin I had today! Thank you very much everything dealt with in a professional manner, fixed the radiator needed a bleed, put the detector in the right place and most importantly identified and remover a small gas leak in the kitchen!
