Inspection of existing faulty combi boiler; Contract Heating’s engineer, Eric, was diligent and pragmatic with his advice and recommendation, leaving us to decide to replace the boiler with a new one.
They came back with a quote on the same day which we reviewed and accepted, and fitted the new boiler two days later.
The installing engineer, Dean, was meticulous, tidy and very well-mannered.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Contract Heating to anyone else.

Contract Heating has serviced our elderly J&S warm air central heating efficiently for years. Its thermocouple failed suddenly, leaving us shivering. Contact Heating came out the next day with a new part and fixed it in 20 minutes. Can't recommend their service and workmanship enough.

Contract Heating were such a professional set up from the get go. I have a new town property that structurally was causing me a headache to get a new boiler fitted. They visited a few times to help me find a solution for how the boiler flue would be fitted, provided me with help to submit planning application which subsequently failed. Then we found another solution which I’m more than happy with! Initially accepting that I would lose some living room space with a stud wall needing to go up, Ross did an exceptional job on keeping the pipework neatly adjacent to the ceiling meaning minimal space will be lost and I couldn’t be happier with the result!

I've had a Service Contract with Contract Heating for almost 25 years now, and am now on my second boiler installation with them. The first was due to the age & poor reliability of the boiler which was in the flat when I bought it, and last week I had a new boiler installed after the current one was damaged irreparably when the roof was torn off our tenement during the recent storm, tearing the boiler flue right out of the boiler and off through the ceiling, leaving water to pour in and run through the boiler for a number of days!)

I had the new boiler installed in a day, only three days after calling to arrange the job (following an estimator visit the week previously). The engineer was there at 8am as promised, and was very friendly, efficient and did a great job getting the old boiler out, the new one in and then dealing with a minor electrical issue in conjunction with a Contract Heating electrician, caused by the strange wiring to the hall cupboard in my flat. He also worked in conjunction with my roofers to get the new flue installed whilst they were finishing off putting a new roof on the building, ensuring that the new roof guarantee wasn't voided before it had even started.

Everything was tided away and hoovered before he left, so you wouldn't even have known that he'd been there - and he ran me through the new boiler controls and features, the new condensate pump and the CO detector as well as explaining about the flue, firestop and the ceiling void so I had the necessary answers should my insurance assessors ask me about it later.

He also knew his stuff about bacterial risks too - I was advised to run the hot water until my HW tank was fully heated up to the 70C set on the boiler in order to kill off any nasties that had been growing in there over the two weeks since I'd lost the boiler, then to run the hot water tap in the bath until the water went cold. After that, once the tank was full of hot water again later, I'd be safe to use it.

As I have been since first becoming a customer all those years ago, I was delighted yet again with the amazing service from Contract Heating, and overjoyed to have heating and hot water again after two very cold and uncomfortable weeks waiting for the new roof installation to be at a stage where the boiler and chimney work could be done.

The service I received was second to none.
When the work was carried out the first engineer was courteous and friendly.
Unfortunately (due to a faulty part) a different engineer (also courteous and friendly) had to attend the following day to work out why my radiators hadn't re-started following the boiler flush.
He arrived in a timely manner and persisted for some time to work out what was going on. He then fixed the problem and waited to ensure all the radiators were functioning properly.
I then received an unprompted courtesy call a few days later to check everything was still OK before being invoiced.
All in all an excellent customer experience!

I had my Boiler serviced and Ian from Contract Heating was so helpful and also shut off a gas pipe so I could install an electric Hob. He guided me on installation etc. Ian also said to send in type of Bosch appliances I was buying and he would check if they were suitable.

Keith then came to install my new Hob and Oven and he was so kind and installed them both so quickly. Keith took the old appliances away which was so helpful.

My experience of Contact Heating has been extremely good and everyone has been so helpful and professional in every way.

We had our old domestic boiler removed and a new one fitted. The speed and efficiency of the work was remarkable - our first call was made on the Monday and the installation was completed on the Friday of the same week.

Contract Heating engineer Rob called yesterday to repair a leak in my 12 year old Ariston combi boiler. He did a great job! and Contract Heating went some extra miles for me yesterday. Rob called in the afternoon, identified the spare part required for the repair, went back to his office and returned to my property the same afternoon to replace the manifold - all done in the one afternoon and your office co-ordinated that another engineer called at my home with the spare part. Rob had to dismantle part of my kitchen unit to access the job properly. He worked on until after 6.30pm to finish the repair , put my kitchen back together again and tidied up everything perfectly before leaving.
Previously this year I had had 3 visits following the scheduled boiler service in June. Over last months, I had been topping up the boiler pressure myself several times, and with this current leak , I was beginning to lose confidence in Contract Heating's ability to fix my boiler properly , and I was even starting to think they were nudging me towards getting a new boiler!

Rob was aware of this yesterday and he took the time to explain all the previous visits and the work carried out in detail. He said my boiler could be repaired 100%. His work on the repair yesterday and his explanation of the job he was doing on my boiler has restored my belief and faith in Contract Heating. He also told me about the number of qualified engineers employed - 30 + - and the Contract Heating training academy and gave me a different perspective on this family run business.

They have , in fact, never let me down in my 12 years as a customer and I'm happy to continue my contract for the coming year and now have no hesitation in recommending Contract Heating .

When my old boiler initially broke down, the company sent an engineer out the next day and provided detailed quotes with various options for replacement. The work was then agreed & booked in within a matter of days. The price was also very reasonable.

The engineers, Johnny & Lachlan were punctual, knowledgeable, professional, courteous and managed to finish the job a day early.

I received a courtesy call the next day to make sure I was happy & was provided with my warranty paperwork etc which they registered on my behalf.

Contract Heating services my gas boiler annually. Last Wednesday, Calum arrived on time and carried out the service professionally and efficiently, also checking my meter and linked appliances such as my radiator to check the internal fluid was of sufficient standard. He took the time to explain to me what he was doing and why each step was necessary. Calum took photographs and these were included with my invoice and accompanying safety report. I called this Saturday morning for priority service as combi-boiler not working. Contract Heating responded immediately, diagnosed and repaired quickly at a very reasonable price. Problem was condensation in pipes near the ignition. I used their services for years when living in Edinburgh before. Their service was excellent and still is.

I've been using Contract Heating for over ten years. Every time we need a big job done in one of our properties, I always shop around, but always end up going back to them because I know I can trust them and they'll get the job done with the minimum of fuss. I phoned on the Tuesday to say the boiler in our rental flat was broken, Graham attended on the Wednesday and quickly identified the problem. Unfortunately it was more economical to replace than repair. A new one was fitted by Johnny on the Friday. As a landlord, I contacted Contract Heating on a Tuesday because I needed to have some regulatory checks completed as quickly as possible. CH had the job done by the following Friday - three days later. I was impressed with their speed of response, whether by phone or email from the office. Christine and her team did a fantastic job and spent significant time to resolve our issue. As a family and as a business involved in property, we have used Contract Heating for many years.
My mum had a new boiler installed a few years ago but when it stopped working, the manufacturer couldn't have cared less, despite the fact that it was still under warranty.

I had the company arrange all five of my house letting certificates in one hit which was a Godsend for someone who is not always at the property. All completed in day and time agreed and certs provided. A call out for Patrick Hannigan who spent much time answering all the points from an extensive fire safety Cert document I was unsure of following the visit (which was most of them). Really great service and he gave some great follow up advice. Will use them again for sure!

Contract Heating have serviced and repaired our boiler for a few years. This time our boiler developed a fault too expensive to repair. The company provided a highly detailed and competitive estimate to install a new remotely monitored Ariston combi-boiler.
The service engineers are professional and undertake their work with great care. The installation engineers, Ross and Lewis, did a fantastic job. They straightened the new pipework, replaced the flue, flushed the system and set up the new boiler.
Flushing the system appears to have improved the temperature of radiators and we look forward to a warmer home next winter. The Ariston boiler looks smart, is smaller than the old boiler and provides hot water more consistently.

Both Leanne who took my calls and organised appointments and Andrew McLeod who came out and did the work were excellent. I needed PAT and Fire risk tests for my Airbnb properties. I found them friendly, professional, helpful and timely and I would highly recommend this company to any other airbnb people and landlords.

I'm a tenant in a rented property and, as such, am unable to comment on the cost of work carried out (but there's no 'not applicable' in the rating scale for that). In terms of customer service, my comment relates to the consideration that Contract Heating's team still take in terms of precaution against spreading Covid-19. As an immuno-compromised person who remains in near-total isolation during the ongoing pandemic, it's a grave concern that few others still appreciate that protections are even necessary, let alone be prepared to implement them.

If you're in the Edinburgh area in similar circumstances, in my experience staff are receptive to concerns about contractors wearing masks when they enter a property; I'd mentioned in advance that this would be necessary, expecting the incredulity or dismissal that's become common, only to receive assurance that at least one of their employees still takes their own PPE to every assignment. Ask for Kenny, who was also considerate and proficient in every other aspect of the work carried out. Thanks once again,

Not only did they fix our central heating quickly and efficiently over Christmas they also went out to help my elderly mother whose central heating stopped working on Christmas Eve. Installation of new boiler .I highly recommend Contract Heating . They responded to my initial enquiry ,inspected ,quoted and installed the new boiler within a week! They initially installed my Ariston boiler in 2006 and have been efficiently servicing it annually since then.
Two efficient professional courteous young men spent the day here ensuring everything in order and patiently explained it to me.( I am 81, and most of technology beyond my capacity)… I am extremely grateful.

My boiler system was flushed to remove iron solid sludge and an magnetic filter was fitted in line with the boiler water system. Rob Hamilton and Dean provided a friendly, efficient and very professional service. The quality of the finished water was very clear and the the clarity should be maintained by the insertion of rust inhibitor and cleaning of the filter during the annual service. This was an impressive service from my point of view.

Rob Hamilton and Allan Reid did an amazing job today. They worked almost twelve hours to ensure we had a working boiler - on a Saturday. Despite unexpected additional challenges (dead birds in the flue) they remained super friendly and took time to explain the new boiler to us.

I had booked an annual boiler service. Graham Pryde, the engineer, arrived and I asked him to check if we had a gas leak as I had noticed a strange smell. He went above and beyond to ensure that our gas was not cut off overnight. He found the leak and resolved the issue and then still went on to service the boiler which definitely made him late finishing for the day.
We also received a call from the office reassuring us that the issue would be resolved.

We are a nursery group in South west edinburgh. We had central heating work carried out by Contract Heating. Alan Reid and and Rob Hamilton absolutely went the extra mile to get this job complete in order that we could continue to remain open and able to provide childcare. This was achieved working long shifts and ensuring the premises was put back to normal - could not fault their commitment and efforts - many thanks to both of them and joiner Craig contracting for them - greatly appreciated.

Rob Hamilton and his team fitted our new Ariston Boiler on 22/12. This was carried out in one day instead of two as it had been booked in for the 29/12 & 30/12 and we were very surprised when they turned up a week early. Rob stayed late to complete the installation to inconvenience us as little as possible. We are very happy with the work carried out. The new boiler works really well and Rob & his team were courteous and observed covid regulations.

We recently had a problem with our boiler, and faced the holiday season with the prospect of a cold home and no hot water. We found the service provided by Contract Heating to be excellent. The engineer carried out the work promptly, within a couple of hours of our call. He was efficient and helpful. The office staff and technicians are helpful and friendly, we cannot recommend them highly enough.

A terminally ill boiler the week before Christmas. I phoned Tuesday, the engineer called the next day - efficient and friendly. fault diagnosed, part ordered - called when later that day to say part arrived - full quote given - the next day, Thursday, part fitted, all fixed by 10:30am.

Very good service, fast, efficient and extremely helpful. Hot water and a warm house for Christmas.

The best part was that the labour cost was so reasonable - only £120 for short notice emergency, and the subsequent repair.

Called out to investigate combi-boiler which was cutting out. Excellent response in the early afternoon of the day we called. The engineer solved the problem. We have used the company for our annual central heating servicing since moving in to the flat 3 years ago, as recommended by the previous owner. Contract Heating has serviced my gas boiler for12/15 years and over last few years kept it going despite its age. Decided would replace it before winter set in and got 3 quotes, surprised to find Contract Heating marginally, least expensive of the three. Discussed details with supervisor Craig and got all the answers I needed, accepted quote and within 7 days new boiler delivered and installed including arranging sub-contractor.
Alan and Johnnie arrived as arranged, took ownership of the job and I was comfortable to leave them to get on with it. Estimate had been one and half days but completed in one. New boiler doing its job, installation flawless, guys punctual, smart, cleaned up fully after they had finished, all waste and old boiler removed that afternoon.

I’ve been using Contract Heating for over a decade; both for our own home and our rental property, and I have always been happy with their work. For this job, Eric and his team re-routed some gas piping and replaced the broken heat exchanger on our home boiler. All the work was done within 4 hours to a high standard with no mess and no fuss. The quote was also the lowest out of 3 reputable companies we approached for an estimate. Highly recommended.

Rob and Lewis did a first class job installing my new radiators and went to a lot of trouble and effort to get the new pipework under the floor. We replaced our boiler. The staff were patient and very helpful. As the boiler is just installed, I cannot really comment on the quality of the boiler or its value for money but the quality and value of the company’s service is very good.

My annual boiler service was carried out this morning, quickly and efficiently by a polite and tidy engineer, I have been a customer for many, many years and always find the service exemplary.

First heard of Contract Heating in 2008 and used them until I moved away in 2020. They are reliable, skilful and courteous. Their prices are always fair and the work is first class. They conserved my ageing Worcester boiler in an older property and upgraded the heating system making it more sensitive and responsive. Their one-off non-contractual charging system for annual services makes them very competitive.

I have been using Contract Heating for many years for the provision and servicing of my gas boilers. They have always been highly efficient, extremely helpful and very friendly when dealing with my requirements. Recently, I had a new Ariston boiler installed. It was done in a day by Rob and Mark and was followed up, at my request, by two visits from Craig who adjusted and explained its settings and operation to its somewhat confused new owner!! The ladies in the office have also been extremely pleasant and helpful when I have called. Thank you very much.

We have used Contract Heating Ltd to service our boiler in our house for the last 3-4 years. We are now remodelling our kitchen and we employed Contract Heating to renew our boiler and adjust the pipework to relocate the new boiler in a new position in the kitchen along with a new radiator . They undertook all the works in a very professional manner. The installation team for our new boiler was led by Rob Hamilton, and he had Mark and Austin working with him. They were all polite, Covid respectful and their standard of work was excellent. They were in our house for 3 days and always kept their work area clean and tidy. Every day they cleaned up after them and turned up every day at the time they said they would. I have had a similar positive experience during the three years of servicing our old boiler. I have got to know a few of the Contract Heating engineers over the last few years and it is always to good to hear reports from them about the high regard they have for Contract Heating as a company. I would recommend Contract Heating unreservedly.

We have used Contract Heating for safety certification in 4 rental properties we own for over 10 years. The service they have provided is above exemplary. The staff are knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The service is delivered with utmost efficiency. I cannot fault them and highly recommend Contract Heating.

Short version - If you are a small scale private landlord (I have <10 flats) you are not the kind of customer ContractHeating want or will look after these days.

Longer version - I used their landlord services for about 10 years and they used to be fine but I have got more and more unhappy with their service as they have grown. Boiler service contracts - as soon as you have one year where it costs them more than your annual premium they do not renew. DD debits continued to be taken even when service contract cancelled BY THEM. Their quotes for new boilers are not competitive in my experience. I did have them replace one and it was a nightmare with them having to come back several times because of issues with the flue siting, eventually resulting in me having to have the boiler relocated. Recent electrical fault is final straw, fault not even identified and unnecessary, unrelated work was done and then quoted another day's investigative work being required which could not be scheduled by them for approx 2 weeks, meantime tenants with no power. Another electrical firm identified the problem in 5 minutes and fixed it in about 30 mins on a same day call out. ContractHeating also wanted to charge me for an EICR which reported a fail due to the fault I called them out for and they did not fix! When I complained ContractHeating boss Pat said he was happy with his guy's work, but they would not charge me for that visit. Then when the next routine safety check came up on another flat a few weeks later he asked did I still want to work with them. I said OK, because I had not looked at alternatives - this stuff is just a chore. Then he came back and said well they would rather not continue our relationship. Why didn't he just say that in the first place? So agreed that will I take my business elsewhere, and having looked at alternatives there are certainly several that offer better value for money on the face of it, and the recent service standards from ContractHeating can't be hard to beat.

Removal of old gas central heating boiler and installation of a new one. The people working with this company were all very professional, communicative and helpful. This includes the staff answering the telephone, the engineers and the joiner. They turned-up when they said they would, kept me informed about progress and next steps, and they were careful about tidiness. The initial cost estimate provided was based on a thorough on-site survey and conversation. The final cost was just below the estimate. In summary, very professional and very reliable.

Required repair to boiler . All done extremely efficiently from initial call , with prompt visit to undertake the repair. The engineer was very pleasant and mindful of the covid restrictions. Boiler up and running within the hour. Very impressed with service throughout .

Boiler replacement went really well, with minimum disruption, guys onsite Rob and Mark were fantastic, were really good with my dog, all steps were explained before, during and after, clear instructions received on how to operate the new boiler/cube/app. Communication from back office/customer service was prompt, super helpful and friendly, I am really glad to be their customer. I have used Contract Heating in my own home and in a church manse for several years and have always had excellent service. At Christmas 2020 the manse heating boiler came to the end of its life. Despite the obvious difficulties of timing and weather (external boiler room) a new boiler was fitted within a day and heating to the manse restored. A further visit was scheduled to install new controls and flush the system which also went well. I was completely satisfied with the care and attention given by the Design Engineer Craig Hunter and the two Installation Engineers, Alan and Dean. Covid procedures were properly applied and the manse family have expressed their appreciation of the respectful way in which work within every room of the manse was carried out. Rob Hamilton and Austen from Contract Heating completed a Combi Boiler installation and conversion. I had forgotten all about the annual boiler service until Contract Heating sent a friendly email reminder, I booked an appointment and Graham arrived a couple of days later at a time to suit me. The staff in the office whether you speak to them by phone or email are extremely friendly and helpful - the engineers who attend are always very polite, smartly dressed, friendly, professional and efficient, they tidy up as they go and leave the house in the same condition as when they arrive. You can also track your engineer to get an indication of arrival time. I would highly recommend Contract Heating.

Our central heating boiler had broken down and we phoned Contract Heating. An engineer was sent the same day and identified the cause of the breakdown. Parts were ordered and fitted within 3 days. Our boiler was also serviced during the visits.
The engineer, Craig, who appeared on both occasions was courteous, considerate and abided by the rules raised by the Covid 19 pandemic.
When he left after the second visit, the boiler was working very efficiently.

I am delighted with the new Ariston boiler I have just had fitted by Rob Hamilton and Lewis. For added convenience, you can even control this boiler from your phone with an app if you like! When I drag myself into the 21th Century (sometime before 2021 hopefully) I'll be able to do that. Ryan Graham replaced our fuse board to a new and updated one, throughout he kept us informed of the process and whilst working he observed Covid 19 regulations,which gave reassurance.

Replacement boiler. Straightforward estimate and prompt answer of questions related to. Engineers personable and knowledgeable and courteous trades personnel.
There was one arguably minor hiccup regarding replacement of boiler housing, however, in the bigger picture this was resolved promptly, efficiently and pleasingly.

Serviced and repaired a Boiler and Gas Fire. The response was excellent starting with the lady on the desk (Leanne) who directed me to a button on the boiler that got the System restarted and reassured me that it hadn't conked out. I booked a plumber (Andrew) who arrived promptly to fix both appliances and offer some valuable advice on how to maintain them in the future. All reasonably priced.

We just had a new boiler installed by Contract heating in our house in North Berwick. We have previously used Contact heating for the past 14 years in a flat in Edinburgh and always found them helpful and efficient. They are tidy workers and ensure all carpets including the stairs were covered during their work. They took time to explain what the work was as it went on and were excellent at making the control of the boiler seem simple. We felt we were always consulted when appropriate.

Got an email in the morning telling us when the engineer would arrive, and their is a tracking facility so you can see where the engineer is so you don't have to wait in all day. . He fitted a new radiator in our spare room, and serviced our boiler Quick, tidy and efficient, pleasent bloke to chat too, and the dog loved him. Have used this company before and have always had excellent service.

Do annual gas checks and recently came to check a boiler pressure loss. Graham Quinn the engineer was really personable, great communication, and knowledgeable. Highly trustworthy. No doubt you pay for the quality service otherwise would have been five stars all round!!

I first contacted Contract Heating when my old boiler started to malfunction because they came recommended by neighbours. They subsequently fitted a new boiler and have maintained this for the past few years for a what seems a very reasonable price. Their service is excellent both out in the field and in the office - prompt, efficient and reliable - with a tracking app to let you know when they will arrive. I am glad to know that they have my back especially when winter comes.
