We are one of Scotland’s leading painting and decorating companies, where quality, reliability and professionalism come as standard. We offer ames taping, carpentry and joinery as part of our services. We are based in Edinburgh, with affiliated branches in Glasgow, Perth, Stirling and Crieff. Borthwick Decorators recently redecorated our ornate ceiling- Kamil and Nicholas did an excellent job, working at extreme heights and navigating themselves around a very big old building- the end result is beautiful.
David came out to do quality checks and I found Borthwick to be extremely professional , communication was excellent and we would definitely use them again.

Whilst we were on holiday, the boys came in and did a fantastic job, 4 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 1 kitchen and an outside stair which is now sparkling. We have used Borthwicks before and would certainly do so again

I had all my external window frames painted by Stuart and his team from Borthwick Decorators. They took great care over the preparation of the frames, which were in a pretty awful state. Painting was carried out with precision and skill. Stuart is a perfectionist and at completion my windows frames looked good as new! Borthwicks are a very professional company to deal with and Annemarie in the office was always responsive and helpful. I am delighted to give them a 5 star review.

We appointed Borthwick Decorators to fully paint the communal hallways of our flatted development (walls, ceilings, skirting broads, window frames, door frames, balustrades and bannisters) and we couldn’t be more satisfied and happy with the end result. Communication with David was always excellent throughout the process, from beginning to completion (painting specification, quote, and starting date) and David was always was very approachable and quick to respond with his expert knowledge to any questions we had.
Eddie and his team of painters who painted the communal hallways, were fantastic: very professional, skilled, friendly, hard-working and helpful and nothing was ever an issue. They arrived punctually everyday and tidied up afterwards, and ensured that everything was painted to our satisfaction, and all in all, it was a pleasant experience.

They were responsive and quick and came up with a solution to fit our job in as soon as they could as it was just a small one. Stuart who arrived on the day was fantastic. We have just had some excellent decorating done by Borthwick Decorators (end of June 2021) We have an open plan house in Auchterarder, and they must have done the equivalent of 2,000 sq ft of ceiling and 500+ sq ft of walls. It took the team 4.5 days working hard from 0800 to 1800 and we couldn’t fault them. Top team of Robert (organiser and leader), Eddie (helpful perfectionist) and Katie (always smiling hard worker) backed up on occasion by Steve and Nick. This is not the easiest of houses to do. The hall, living room and kitchen are open plan, and the hall is two storeys to the eaves. Architect’s dream and maintenance nightmare. They coped admirably with scaffolding and ladders, and, most importantly, such clean workers. Dust sheets everywhere and brush and vacuum always in evidence. We are more than happy to recommend them. Not the cheapest, perhaps, but value for money for the standard of workmanship and the personal management by David Borthwick. We will use them again if and when we do more.

We are extremely pleased not only with all the work done but also how it was carried out. A very professional, reliable, polite and friendly team. Arrangements were made very quickly and efficiently to assess the work needed and the quote followed shortly after. The work required major exterior repainting as well as joinery repairs. Everything was arranged and co-ordinated by the Borthwick team. All round, top marks for the quality of the work, ease of communication, co-ordination and reliability.

A large outside job painting the cladding, windows and doors. Dealing with Borthwicks was easy and they always replied quickly. Everything from getting a quote to invoicing was easy but the best aspect was the men themselves: polite, thoughtful, tidy and reliably turning up when they said they would.

I would absolutely recommend Borthwick Decorators Ltd. Having a massive stairwell fire in our communal 3 floor tenement building it wasn't just a repaint. The soot damage was extensive and the stairwell was coated in a thick black coating.
Our stairwell has now been transformed. Everything was five star from the communication with the owner of the company, David Borthwick, to the decorators that completed the stairwell. Everything was thoroughly discussed especially when it came to choosing the colour palette.
I am so happy that I chose this company to take on this mammoth task as it wasn't a straight forward paint and the other stairwell residents agree that it is so much brighter and finished to an outstanding standard.

David Borthwick carried out the quote and sent it to me the same evening. He was honest and straightforward about what was involved, patiently answered all my questions and told me how long the job would take (4 days).
Stuart and the team (Four in total) arrived about 30 minutes early each day and just got on with the job. They drank their coffee whilst working and took a really short lunch break. They were friendly, efficient, helpful and RESPECTFUL to us, our neighbours and the property. No loud radio, no shouting and no smoking. (Throughout this period it was freezing - these guys just got on with it)
Throughout the job Stuart (all of the team actually) kept in touch to make sure they were doing what we wanted and that we were happy with quality and finish.They worked late on a couple of occasions to keep the job bang on schedule.
They used loads of drop-sheets and masked the windows and doors so the driveway and the garden didn't get painted along with the house. They left the place immaculate.
In short,David was great to deal with, the paintwork is great and the guys were a pleasure to have around.

The exterior of our property which is 120 years old - all woodwork was thoroughly prepared for painting which in itself was a time taking difficult process. The building structure was repaired in parts, window sills replaced and all now looks like new. The workmen were professional, polite and friendly, any questions answered. The end product is wonderful and I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a job well done.

David and the team have been consistently excellent; offering welcome advice on materials and paint, providing competitive and transparent quotes, completing work in a timely manner to the highest standard and always following up with us to ensure we’re fully satisfied with their work. We have used Borthwick Decorators Ltd over the last 10 years for 2 business property refurbishments, our home and my son’s flat. The quality of workmanship is 2nd to none, the work was completed ahead of schedule or on time, they were always reliable, turning up when they were supposed to and great care was taken during the works to protect my flooring, units , furniture, etc. with everything meticulously cleaned up afterwards. Communication was great throughout and I was well informed about the schedule of works before and during the job and kept up to date throughout. The advice given on products and colours , etc was invaluable and helped us to achieve the results we were looking for. We have had our exterior paintwork done by Borthwick Decorators and are extremely pleased with the outcome. The painting team were very tidy and always polite.
