The commication from start to finish was exactly how Barry articulated and the attention to detail on the finishing work was above and beyond what I expected.

I would leave in the morning and come back in the evening picking up on details that were taken care of without asking, almost like he completely understood our needs.

We had our youngest bedroom altered from a high sleeper bed to a room which suits a teenager better (small double). As it is a small box room with the top of the staircase forming a slanted surface in part of the room, a good solution to work with the limited space available had to be found. Barry has made an excellent desk space with rounded finishing to maximise work space, and due to our daughter’s asthma issue we decided to move her wardrobe into the upstairs landing. Barry altered the upstairs landing wardrobe into an excellent floor to ceiling double sliding door unit with ample space.

Barry’s strong point is his organisational skill (he will organise subcontractors for you), his punctuality (if he says he will do the works at a certain date, he will be there), and his willingness to finish the job to what the customer wants.

Barry Thompson and his team worked on our home renovation earlier this year. The project involved creating a new bathroom in the first floor of a double upper colony, a new study, and a complete renovation of the kitchen. The results are superb.

Barry approached the job with diligence, tenacity and excellent attention to detail. Before even submitting a tender, Barry spotted a partial wall that had not been included in the design, and followed up with the architect and structural engineer to ensure the wall was not load bearing.

During the build, when unforeseen problems arose, (as they can do with a 150 year old house in a conservation area), Barry was solutions-focused: working over the weekend to deal with a redirection of a waste pipe, and dealing with my downstairs neighbours to reassure them.

It is also worth mentioning his lovely craftsmanship as a joiner. He custom-built a desk for our office, with curved edges. Similar curved edges appear on a bottom step he installed and in our kitchen under window storage.

Finally, it is clear from how the other tradespeople that worked on the job that they all hold Barry in huge respect. The build was carried out on time and any additional costs (such as for unforeseen) were advised well in advance.

He is committed to doing a good job and takes pride in his work. He has also been quickly available to deal with the few snags that came up, and offered advice after job completion.

I have no hesitation in recommending him and can be available for further contact if needed.

B Thompson built an extension to the rear of our house and also installed a new kitchen. His quote for the work was clearly explained and competitive. The complete works were delivered on time and budget and to a very high standard. His own work and that of the other contractors was skilled and professional. Everything was well-organised which caused little or no disruption during the works.
