A simple idea, built on consistency

We Do Doo
I started We Do Doo in 2021, although the idea had been in the back of my mind for years before that. It originally came from dealing with dog mess in my own garden and thinking there must be a better way to handle it.

After lockdown, with more people owning dogs and spending more time at home, it felt like the right time to give it a go. What started off as a small, local service has grown steadily through word of mouth and repeat customers, and we now look after a well-established and growing customer base across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. From the beginning, the focus has been on being reliable and doing the job properly.

It's a simple service, but consistency matters, turning up when you say you will, doing a thorough job, and keeping things clean and hygienic.

As the business has grown, we've expanded the services we offer. It's not just regular garden cleans now, we also provide bin emptying, sanitisation, and some commercial work for landlords and businesses. We remain a local business focused on Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and the surrounding areas, but we're built on a strong base of regular customers and continue to grow steadily.

Why we joined the Aberdeenshire Trusted Trader scheme

The main reason was trust. We're going into people's gardens, often when they're not there, so customers need to feel comfortable with that. Being part of Trusted Trader gives that reassurance straight away and shows we've been properly vetted.

The vetting process was straightforward overall, but definitely thorough. There were a few areas, particularly around documentation, where I had to take a bit more time to properly think things through and make sure everything was in place. It made me look more closely at how the business was set up, especially in terms of policies, procedures, and record keeping. In that sense, it was actually quite useful, as it helped tighten things up and make sure everything was properly documented rather than just assumed.

It didn't feel overly complicated, but it was clear that proper checks were being carried out, which is what you'd want from a scheme like this. If anything, it reinforced the value of being part of Trusted Trader, knowing that not everyone will meet that standard.

The interactions we've had with the Trusted Trader team during application and onboarding were straightforward and professional, everything was clear, well organised, and easy to work through.

The role membership plays

As a relatively new business, people aren't yet specifically searching for us through Trusted Trader, but the scheme still plays an important role. Even when customers find us elsewhere, having the Trusted Trader accreditation gives them that extra reassurance when they're deciding whether to go ahead. We see it as something that supports the business and builds trust over time.

"Trust matters — Trusted Trader helps give customers that reassurance."

We use the Trusted Trader logo across our website and social media, and we also have it on the van. It's something we mention when speaking to new customers as well. On social posts, we include it as part of a tagline at the bottom, highlighting that we're Trusted Trader approved. It's something people recognise, and it helps reinforce that we're a reliable and vetted business.

Looking ahead

As a relatively new type of business and service, one of the challenges has been helping people understand that what we do is professional, legitimate, and trustworthy. That's one of the reasons joining Trusted Trader was important to us, it helps promote the safety and credibility of the business and gives customers reassurance when considering a service like ours.

We know inviting someone into your garden or onto your property requires trust, so anything that helps demonstrate professionalism and accountability is valuable. As the business continues to grow, our aim is to keep building awareness of the service, raise standards within the industry, and continue providing a reliable, professional service across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
