After at least 5 botched jobs and thousands of pounds later, we still had water issues from the front elevation of our 1880s granite farmhouse.

I spent hours trailing through the internet in the hope there may be a company in Aberdeenshire worthy of calling themselves professional roofers!

I came across Tony’s name on a few Reddit posts where he was spoken very highly of both for integrity and workmanship.

My husband and I met with Tony, decided on a plan, he delivered a fair quote and went from there.

The project started early May 26. Firstly, to strip down 3 turrets, reline slate, add water valleys at the sides and re do the lead working. This is where we assumed some of our water ingress was coming from. 1st turret down, no water ingress. Tony then immediately approached us to discuss the lead work that he felt on inspection was fine (not how he’d do it), but fit for purpose. He would carry on but not change the lead which was a significant saving for us. It maybe that we might need further remedial works looked at once we stripped back the 4 haunches being replaced but of course Tony had factored this in during our meetings and it’s perfectly justifiable not to be able to quote for this.

The haunches are removed and there was as rotten timbers supposedly replaced before not touched. Tony liaised with us at all times and physically showed my husband what was going on. On completion of the haunch work he checked all the chimneys for us and showed us a few nice gaping holes that had been left or never addressed more to the point!

We’d had the front elevation pointed in 2024 and again not a great job. This individual has also pointed the front elevation of the turrets. Tony was adamant he was going to check anywhere he thought might be the water culprit. He put a knife over that pointing and guess what?? It fell out like putty. He then spend more time removing all this and doing an amazing job of repointing the front of them.

In addition to this all the slates were checked and broken ones replaced. Tony uses copper nails. No more rust, no more slipped skates! We will be looking to have this done to them all next year.

He also sprayed wood worm preventative for us anywhere he could on request and all the cement works were water proof treated even up our chimneys.

The area was kept impeccably clean by Tony and team with every last bit of rubbish removed. It was fantastic. They worked long days for nearly 3 weeks non stop and very hard.

Finally the bill came in as less than the quote. How much honest can you get!!

A couple of weeks ago during a heavy storm, water started comimg into our bedroom through the flat roof. After having issues with roofers in the past, I searched the Aberdeenshire trusted trader site and found Tony. He came out promptly and inspected the roof, luckily, the issue wasn't as serious as we feared, and he fixed it within an hour. Tony was professional and knowledgeable throughout. He explained everything and showed me photos for reassurance. I will definitely use his services again and will be recommending him to friends and family. I couldn't be more pleased!

Tony has done a fabulous job on our house . New roof tiles,ridges,velux windows fitted, and 2 roof tile vents installed. A very meticulous worker that listens to what the customer wants . We have had numerous comments on how great a job has been do . Many asking for his contact details .

I found Tony to be highly professional. When first contacted he arrived within a week, texting before arrival and provided a quotation shortly after.

He was friendly, chatty and very helpful.

Works were detailed and explained well with options.

The work itself is very high quality and tidy. He began work when he said and stayed late in order to finish the job, going above and beyond.

I would highly recommended using him. Neighbours have also commented on his work and I provided his details to them.

The price was competitive. I now require further roofing and have already contacted to his company carry out the works.

He will continue to be my first point of contact.

Work carried out included;
Strip and reslate dormer window with new lead flashings.
Strip out further 3 dormers, fit new lead flashing and made good slates and cement work.
Supply and fit new GRP flat roofing system to balcony area and dormer window.
For bay window.
Remove existing roof covering, frame for new decking, insulate and fit new deck, fiberglass roof and trims and apply top coat. Cut out raggle and point with harling stop bead, point joints in window.
Strip out existing pointing, cut off bird spikes, SBR and haunch top of two chimneys, repoint and waterproof all stones.

Tony at TH roofing was an excellent person to have work for us to complete the outstanding issues on our roof, he was very prompt and worked extremely hard. Always kept us in the loop with what was going on, providing updates when necessary and providing numerous pictures of any issues and progress. He always kept the areas worked in neat and tidy at all times to minimise any disruption.

Since the moment we first met Tony he has become an invaluable part of our go to trade professionals. He started out by replacing the ridge tiles on our large slate workshop roof, and replaced broken slates as necessary. The work he did blending the old with new was fabulous and his attention to detail even stretched to colour matching the mortar. We were delighted.

After that we asked him to inspect the roof on our newly purchased holiday home, and he identified a number of problems and issues.
All were sorted within a matter of weeks, and he liaised directly with our builder to organise the re-harling of the chimney breast.

What’s great about Tony is that he’s always keen to offer advice and solutions, doesn’t just leave you hanging. He’s always honest and realistic about timescales and costs. He’s a genuinely nice guy and always does his best for you, a true professional.
