We had Joe floor our 3 bedroom house with laminate flooring in a chevron pattern.

The flooring is excellent, although the overall fitting experience was a bit of a let down.

The work was supposed to be done over 2 days (upstairs one day, downstairs the next).

On day one, the fitters arrived and got busy. They couldn't go all of upstairs on day one, as the hallway required some plywood to level the floor (which we discussed during the measuring). The fitters left after 3 hours, when we noticed that the chevron effect hadn't been complete in one room, with 2 lines of flooring following the same pattern, rather than the chevron effect.

On day two, I pointed this out, which the fitters rectified later that day, all good.

When they finished the upstairs landing, they left a gap where the re-aligned the stairs carpet, despite us telling them on arrival, and on the initial chat to get flooring, that the stair carpets would be going once the flooring was in place. Again, they happily changed over the flooring, although the didn't finish the edges of the flooring at the nose of the stairs.

In the afternoon of day two, I was advised the fitters had hit a snag and wouldn't be able to complete the kitchen as they'd run out of flooring and it would be the end of the week before it could be done. I had no issues with that. Then I was told they could finish the kitchen the next day, excellent stuff!

Once the builders had left on Day 2, I went downstairs and they'd done an excellent job of the flooring, although they had knocked a lot of plaster off the walls, which will need some considerable repair.

On day 3 of the fitters coming back, they completed the kitchen, told us they forgot to mention the damage to the walls around the skirting.

We also asked for new transitions upstairs from room to room, as the silver ones fitted, don't really go with the decor. We were promised that they'd come back on Monday to sort the transitions, and the top of the stairs. We've not heard a word since, and doubt they'll come back as we paid them at the end of day 3.

We also emailed Joe at the end of day 2 to share our concerns and show the pics of evidence. Still not had a response though.

Overall the quality of the flooring is good, but the fitting experience and cost, and the fact the job isn't complete, and looks like we'll have to finish it ourselves has left us disappointed with the overall experience, considering it cost thousands of pounds.

I appreciate things can go wrong, and generally the fitters where very obliging in correcting the niggles, although the fact the job has been left incomplete and will cost more expense to correct means I wouldn't recommend this company.

I’m a property developer and was let down by my usual supplier at the last minute. I phoned Joe on Wednesday afternoon and explained my dilemma. He had someone out to measure the flat on the Thursday, I visited Joe’s showroom on the Friday to pick the flooring for each room, and Joe had his guys out to fit the full two bedroom flat (every room) on the Tuesday. I was in a tricky situation and Joe and his team pulled out all the stops to help me. Can’t recommend them high enough.

I am a huge fan of Joe Walker's Flooring. I have used them on four different occasions in my own home and I have lost count of the number of customer projects we have used them for at work, well into double figures. We have bought carpet, vinyl tiles and laminate.

We started using them because of the price, which is very good. We keep using them because we trust them. There is no 'foot in the door' type sales patter, just the right advice. We usually have an idea of what we are looking for but it isn't unusual for their store team to suggest something just as good but that will reduce the cost! That is rather unique in my experience.

Best buy was the German laminate we used for a 6m x 4.9m room. Much better than solid wood without the negatives of solid wood and doesn't look like laminate.

They are just easy and stress free to deal with.

Joe Walkers flooring provided great service and nothing was ever too much trouble. Highly recommended and already passed their details to friends/family who have had the same excellent service.
