Exceptionally kind and prompt with the electrical work but spent +1hrs trying to fix something non electrical. If they had pointed it out to me I would have told them to leave it but instead I was stuck with quite an expensive bill for the extra time. Otherwise lovely lads.

Lumen upgraded our outside lighting after we moved house. Andrew's initial site visit was helpful and he had some useful ideas. The job was done with cheerful efficiency on the day agreed and we are very happy with the finished result.

I contacted Lumen to get my new smoke alarms installed. I have also used them previously when I had a problem with my kitchen lights that two other electricians couldn't fix - Craig identified the issue straight away and fixed it for me. The office are always very quick to respond and book you in, and Craig the electrician is very friendly, punctual, and does a super job. Booking and invoicing was always swift and straightforward. Highly recommended - I wouldn't use any other electrician.

We had a couple of small jobs needing to be done - replacing an extractor fan and fixing a light fitting - and had waited in vain for a response from a previous electrician we had used. We contacted Lumen Electrical Services by email and had a very prompt response, followed by a quote for the work from Andrew. A date was arranged and the electrician - Jordan - turned up promptly and did both jobs quickly and efficiently. A courtesy call from Andrew followed later that day. Andrew has been out a couple of times - initially to assess light fixtures when we bought a property and then to install and repair various issues with lighting, inside and outside. He's polite, punctual and we are very happy with all the work he has done for us.

We first used Andrew to do some general small jobs in our flat (fit a light, cap off an old plug and repair our communal landing light) and then again when our communal tenement stair lights completely failed. Andrew had advised on his first visit while repairing our landing light that the stair lighting system was extremely old and would likely fail at some point. He was proved right just a few months later and I had no hesitation in recommending him to the rest of the tenement tenants to do the work of a full rewire, replacement lights and timing system. The quote was reasonable and the work was completed on time without mess or fuss. The lights now work better than before, with the added advantage of having guaranteed emergency lighting in the event of a power cut, which we did not have before. Andrew recommended these type of lights and it provides peace of mind for the future. I will certainly use Andrew's services again and recommend him without hesitation.

I was happy that they confirmed they would take the job on in leith area and they followed up with reminders and called before the appointment. Quote and length of the job was delivered as promised. We contracted Lumen electrical to change three lights in our flat. We supplied pictures and details of the jobs that needed carried and we agreed to an hourly rate. The electrician arrived on time, was polite and clearly willing to help. However, out of the three jobs he was only able to do one - a simple change of a ceiling light and two similar jobs could not be completed as the right equipment was not available at the time (a stairs ladder was needed for one of the lights and the other light was completely broken so needed to be ordered). Once the first light was changed in literally 10 minutes the rest of the time was spent troubleshooting, talking to the manager over the phone and then we were informed right equipment is not available and would need to come another time to complete the two additional jobs.We were quoted a price that covered 1.5 hours and indeed the electrician stayed 1.5 h in the flat. We have querried the invoice with the company and we were politely told that since the electrician spent 1.5 h hours in the flat we should pay for the whole time. They agreed to give a discount only if we were going ahead with carrying further work and replacing some things that are not broken, the additional quote being 8 times higher than the first one. My question is: if you go to the mechanic to have the car fixed, explain what needs replacing, leave it there for 1.5 hours and then take it back still broken will you be happy to pay the full price you were initially quoted for?

Craig was on time, professional, knowledgable and genuine at the same time. He had to spend a lot of time figuring out the fuse box - it was a bit of an antique - and some other complications. He answered all my questions and explained how things worked to the level that I could understand.
Andrew was basically always very fast at responding. Initially a bit curt (I assume they get a lot of requests for a quote without follow up), once we looked at what needed to be done etc, he was very helpful.
The only hick-up, and I’m not sure who’s fault it was, was that somehow I had not given and they had not asked for my exact address. So had I not checked my email just before he was meant to come, I would have wasted their and my time waiting.
I had to give a rating for value of money but honestly, I have no idea.

This is by far the best electrical company we have used in our 22 years of trading. Their work is excellent and tidy and we were kept in the loop 100%. The electrician turned up on time and was very professional. We will only ever use this company in future, they have the eye for detail in customer service where so many other companies are a mile off the mark. Lumen did a great job! They installed new mains powered smoke alarms, replaced the fuse box with a new one including surge protection, installed a new socket in the bedroom and new timers for my heating, and repaired several damaged fittings. They were very responsive by email when I was figuring out what work was needed. They turned up when they said they would, cleared up after themselves, and had no problem with observing social distancing and wearing masks while in my property. I highly recommend them.

The big light in our bedroom stopped working, despite trying numerous new bulbs. I filled in an online enquiry form, Andrew replied extremely quickly and we had an email exchange to determine what was required. An appointment was made and Conor arrived (wearing a face mask) 20mins earlier than expected, although that wasn't a problem. He quickly ascertained that the fault lay with the dimmer switch (a wire had come loose) and swapped it for a simple on/off switch, as I had requested. It only took 10mins. A well known retailer refused to install my cooker. Andrew tested my earth loopback and confirmed that it was fine. He then installed the cooker. Very quick and tidy work.

We contacted Lumen Electrical Services after having been let down by another electrican. Andrew provided us with a detailed estimate and was able to attend to the job quickly. Developing an electrical issue during the COVID-19 Lockdown adds a new set of concerns to the problem, but Lumen Electrical dealt with all of these quickly and professionally. After calling in the morning, Andrew was able to arrange to come out on the afternoon of the same day, and he fixed the problems with our shower in 45 minutes. He was very pleasant and knowledgeable, and he worked quickly and professionally to a high standard, taking the time to ensure that he left no mess when he was finished. He remained masked and gloved throughout the repair, and practised safe distancing the entire time he was in our home.

Although it was just a small job to replace a wall switch, Andrew responded quickly to the initial enquiry and managed to schedule the work at a time that suited us. He was very polite and professional and carried out the work quickly and to a very high standard.

We had a new extractor fan and new led down lighters fitted in two bathrooms.

Andrew came and quoted for the work and when we decided to go ahead he sent one of his work men Craig to do the work. Craig did a great job. Neat and fast and no issues at all with the work done.

Lumen carried out a number of jobs for us including removing and installing light fittings and mains sockets. They were very professional, personable and completed the work promptly.

Lumen have carried out several key jobs around the house, ranging from installations to urgent repairs. Andrew has put in new overhead lights, installed an intercom, a new thermostat, lighting systems in both bedrooms and bedroom wardrobes, and on the latest occasion, painstakingly detected and replaced a tricky failed fuse in a range cooker.
He offers expertise combined with method and efficiency and, in addition, a flair for determined problem solving whenever a solution isn't straightforward. Throw in the cheerful dependability shown on every visit, and that's why my recommendation is unhesitating!

Work undertaken was the replacement of kitchen lights following water coming in from the flat above and the installation of a fuse box. Andrew was very helpful and courteous. Andrew is professional and reliable. He gave me all the knowledge of what and why I needed things done. He installed a new fusebox and smoke alarms and sockets for me, adhering to industry standards, while also adhering to the COVID guidelines.

Upgrade to new Mains box and installation of 4 Sun Ray Electric Radiators and a very high quality Terma Towel Ray Heater. The guys arrived exactly when they said they would. The work was completed ahead of schedule. Nothing to tidy up afterwards. Great to get a talk through of the new Mains box and very pleased that that all the elements from the old Mains were now properly and sensibly wired. Very happy with the price, exactly as estimated and very reasonable.

We have just used Lumen Electrical Services to replace all the lamps (5) in our communal stairwell. Nobody was initially available to take my telephone call and I had to leave a message on an answer machine. My call however was returned about an hour later ( I'd been promised a call back that day by the recorded message so was pleased to be contacted so soon). A visit was arranged for the same day and the job completed later in the afternoon.
I was very pleased with both the promptness and quality of the service and the reasonableness of the price. Andrew discussed with me a number of options for the stair lighting, for improvements and possible future work which might be needed. But he emphasised that no further work was needed in the immediate future and also that in our case a more expensive option of moving to LED lights which I had asked about was not necessary. Impressive service.
