My name is Cristopher Igoe, I am the managing director at IGOE UP LTD.
I would like tell you a little bit about our services, and describe how we can provide you with a service.
I have been a steeplejack for 25 years, and in that time I have worked for a number of the ‘big’ steeplejack and rope access companies in Scotland. In this time, I have inspected and repaired numerous residential, commercial and industrial properties and estates. This year I decided to establish my own company as a result of an identified niche in the market; to offer customers safe and quality repairs, that last, at a very competitive price.
Quality Repairs That Last
Many people seek repairs at height from companies that offer rope access qualified staff only. What this often means is that their employees are qualified to access hard to reach areas at height, but are not qualified to undertake the repairs once they are there. Qualified Steeplejacks, like myself, are qualified to undertake multiple trades at height, including: welding, stonemasonry and pointing etc. I have an understanding of the composite of building materials and what product would be best suited to use in combination, to ensure a lasting repair.
Trust and Honesty
Because all of the work that we undertake at height cannot be easily inspected by our customers, on every job we ensure that our customers are provided with an inspection and visual pictures/videos of the issue before and after so you can see the quality of our workmanship. Our values of honesty mean that we can attract more customers on the basis that we have honestly priced remedial works and can be trusted not to take advantage of people and businesses.
Safety
Our people do not compromise on safety; their own, the public or customers. All of our work and our equipment is safety checked and scrutinised by an external health and safety company that make sure we are compliant with statute and regulation. We care about our staff and the people who help to make our company what it is – our customers.
We also hold a Chas common assessment standard certification which is a gold standard accreditation.
Competitive Pricing
Unlike many of the other large Steeplejack companies, we are a small, proud company with reduced overheads; we do not have offices, yards, office staff, large premises and expensive vehicles to maintain. As a result, we are able to pass savings onto our customers and are able to offer discount as a reward to those who recommend us to others.

Igoe-up have done extensive work to both the Cathedral and some townhouses I manage. In every case their service has been excellent. They have been swift to respond to call outs, provided detailed photographic reports of what work is required followed by photographic evidence of the works carried out. This work has included reslating, tracking down leaks, capping chimneys, repointing areas of masonry/chimneys, securing loose concrete ridges, spraying algicide on the building, repainting and repairing high level dormer window frames, providing assistance to a surveyor carrying out a roof survey and investigating the state of lead gutters and rainwater goods. Their prices are reasonable, particularly when one considers the cost of scaffold which is not required due to their use of ropes. I would very much recommend them .

I initially got Chris to do a high level inspection and clean the gutters out at our Cathedral. I had contacted other rope access companies to carry out the work but none of them where able to do this because of a lack of anchor points, this was not the case with Chris. His report after the inspection was very good with photographs/video of the issues we had. He came back to do all the repairs identified in the report within the agreed timescales and costs. Since this Chris has worked on another two of our Churches and i plan to use him on many more.

Chris Igoe and his team have just completed a large repair programme at Logie Kirk, Stirling.
Chris provided an excellent inspection report, including photos, along with repair proposals and costings. The work was completed safely, on time and on budget.
The majority of the work involved re-pointing the steeple and securing numerous coping stones on the main roof. Various other weatherproofing tasks were carried out on the roof and steeple. A couple of large cracks in the stone walls were ground out and filled. All materials used were appropriate for this B listed building.
Dealing with Chris was a pleasure. He clearly has a breadth/depth of knowledge and experience of historic building repairs. He makes commitments and sticks to them, unlike many contractors, in my experience.
I can thoroughly recommend Igoe Up Ltd.

After at least twenty years of neglect, our tenement building needed some attention. We needed roof repairs, replacing slates and redressing leadwork, clearing of the gutters and downpipes, replacing downpipe sections, and the removal of vegetation from the front and rear elevations.
We organised our repairs through an app and Igoe Up won the vote for our tenement of 14 properties. A mix of 9 residential and 5 commercial properties.
We arranged a date with Igoe Up and they stuck to it.
Chris Igoe managed the project professionally, juggling between storms Corrie and Malik, and helped us by delaying some parts until the financials were in place. A cherrypicker was used for the downpipes and the rest was completed as a steeplejack with ropes, thus avoiding scaffolding costs.
The work was carried out to a high standard, with a meticulous attention to detail. Chris went above and beyond on a few occasions, such as clearing vegetation beyond our border and revising the price when many more downpipe segments needed replacing than had been expected.
I would not hesitate to use Igoe Up again.

Such a nice guy. Stuck to his estimate even though he had to replace three lengths of gutter instead of the planned one. Did a superb neat and tidy job. All with rope access where required. They were recommended by a renovation architect so we are not a one off good experience. Thank you Igoe up.

Chris Igoe is an excellent communicator. He obviously takes pride in his work.
He arrived at my property at the arranged time and left after completing the work, removing any debris. Access to the roof was through the property with a carpeted stair. He and his assistant were very respectful.
His estimate was detailed, with photographs and itemised costs, which was very helpful.

Igoe-Up carried out high level work on the church, steeple, and tower, to remove vegetation, moss, replace slates on tower and clean out gutters and hoppers. All work was done to a high standard and their charges were very competitive. They were friendly, obliging, and easy to deal with and we would certainly use them again.

Igoe up are engaged on Steeplejack work for Northesk Parish Church in Musselburgh. Initially to carry out a full and detailed inspection of all the high level areas including roofs, stair towers C.I. guttering and the bell tower. This inspection included carrying out minor works already identified, the removal of rouge plant life in the stonework and lubrication of the bell mechanism.
They produced a very comprehensive report, with work to dangerous copes identified as a priority, with an equally comprehensive portfolio of photographs of all suspect the areas.
A Quotation for remedial work to be spread over an agreed programme.
The re-bedding and dowelling of the copes was carried out on 7 and 8 October and a programme for further pre-winter works agreed.
We have found them very professional, attentive, proactive and responsive and have no hesitation in recommending them as a Trusted Trader.

Chris Igoe tackled the vertically difficult aspects of the external painting of our home. I had done most of the work but could not easily reach a section of the roof or the chimney stack, and height is very much his expertise. It turns out he is a good painter too!
His comms were good ahead of the day's work, having to be rearranged due to the weather. He came on time with his apprentice, both were easy to deal with, and they got on with the work. It took less than the full day he'd allowed, and reduced his price accordingly. His rate was reasonable too given the nature of the work.
I would certainly recommend him and would use him again.
