All staff, including the estimator and the office staff, were pleasant and friendly. The workmen turned up on time, completed the work and cleared up afterwards. There had been numerous leaks from in and around the old guttering and now there are none.

J. Shearer Roofing replaced the roof on my property in December 2023. The work was completed to a high standard within an earlier timescale than initially quoted, and with a 10 year guarantee. The price was competitive. There was a storm a few days after the work was completed, causing one minor piece of damage. Shearers came out to the property the following day to make the repair. All staff were very courteous and pleasant both in the office and on site. Happy to recommend.

We had some issues with broken and loose slate tiles on our roof which needed replaced and repaired, we contacted several roofing companies and found that Shearer's from the outset were efficient, professional and friendly, providing a comprehensive and detailed survey using a drone and copies of the photographs of the roof, with a breakdown of costs and guaranteed price from the get go.

Although not the cheapest quote, we were confident we were dealing with experienced tradespeople that would provide us with a quality job. That is what we got!

Replacement of leaky, damaged guttering to front of house

There were a few cracked tiles and the concrete along the ridge had crumbled away. One of the down pipes had detached slightly from the gutter. These issues were identified by using a drone to confirm the problems which meant we could see clearly what repairs needed done. All the work was carried out professional and efficiently. I would recommend J Shearer Roofing.

Work on roof as had water ingress. First class. Spent all day on roof fixing the problem.

Not particularly happy with the finishing of the skylight work looking at it from inside the loft and would have been happier if I had been made more aware of the fact that the quote did not include the VAT.
Overall , the work was completed to a reasonable standard but it is hard to give a fair total assessment as I will not be able to inspect it thoroughly until the Spring.

Leaking roof repaired. The office staff and the men were friendly and helpful. I had to wait some time for the work to be carried out so a temporary repair was carried out. I had to call them out again to repair the temporary repair as the roof began to leak again but this was the only niggle. Everything left tidy when complete.

The team at shearer were great. They gave us a very professional assessment of the damage using an expert and drone. They provided pictures identifying exactly what needed to be repaired and why.

It took a while to get the work started due to how busy they the team were but they tried to prioritise us as we were letting in water which was helpful. From initial enquiry, through to trades completing the work, all staff were easy to deal with and kept me updated at all times.
Work was completed on time and although slightly more expensive than some other quotes received, I wanted peace of mind that my roof had been repaired by a reputable and professional firm.

Shearers replaced our garage roof which was over 100 years old with new slate. This was carried out cheerfully, competently, quickly, cleanly and with a great deal of efficiency. We are very pleased with the result. There was a minor problem subsequently which they came and fixed immediately.

Although I had to wait two/three months for a construction slot, I felt that a company with a healthy order book must have earned a justifiable reputation.
My experience from day one, when I spoke with the office staff, was one of complete confidence by their efficient and polite manner.
Following a roof inspection they discussed fully the new specification for my agreement prior to commencement.
Works on site took just over one week and was supervised daily by their Contracts Manager who met with me to discuss progress.

Water coming into house through Velux/skylight window. On inspection it was found that the cause was an accumulation of leaves, moss etc had blocked the frame. I needed some repairs on the roughcasting above a second floor window. The company arrived exactly as promised to look at the job and provide a quote. I had work carried out by Shearer and Co., last year when I had water ingress from the roof. I initially approached a number of roofers who failed to resolve the problem. One of my neighbours had instructed Shearer to do work on their roof. They advised me that they had been happy with the quality of their work.

I then asked Shearer to quote for the work which I required to have done. This work was carried out with considerable. expertise.

I was also impressed with the calibre of the administrative staff in your office. Nothing was too much trouble for them. When you asked for clarification of some matter they said that they would check the position and revert to me. And they did, promptly!

We had a front elevation of our house re roughcast in white stone chips. After some 25 years of battering by the elements, it looked dirty and parts were boss, in other words just waiting to fall off. The rest of the house was fine.
We considered having the whole house painted, but first needed to have the boss part re roughcast. This turned out less costly than painting and shouldn't need done again for many years whereas painting is probably a 5 year cycle.
The surveyor who came to price the job was very helpful and knowledgeable. He also did a very good job of matching the stone chips with the other elevations.
We were given a projected start date, some months ahead and were kept updated regularly. Scaffolding was erected at lightning speed, the job done over three days and the scaffolding removed, shortly thereafter.
Removal of roughcast is a dirty job, but the debris was all tidied up.

The gutters and all external woodwork on our 1902 house were in need of repairs and painting.
I had had some difficulty in getting quotations from local companies, but when I contacted Shearers they sent someone promptly to assess the work needed. Their quotation was higher than I had expected but I was impressed by the thoroughness of their assessment and agreed for the work to proceed.
Although the timescale was considerably longer than originally stated, due to weather, supply issues and absenteeism due to Covid, the quality of the finished work was excellent.

We had a new gutter fitted and a few roof tiles replaced. We were very pleased with the friendly and professional service.

We required the replacement of lead work and facia boards on the canopy above a bay window. We had to wait a couple of months for the work to be undertaken as they were so busy (which I think is a good sign!), but it was well worth the wait. We had our roof replaced which involved; new slate, installation of front and back gutter, renewal of wooden facings to front, installation of a small velux, lead work and wrapping of coping stones. The team of roofers worked extremely hard to complete the job within the required timescale despite some rainy days. The team was well organised with colleagues delivering materials and disposing of waste enabling the team on the roof to continue working. The supervisor visited frequently and kept us up to date with progress. It was also very convenient to have the office to phone for updates / arrangements in advance of the job starting; there was always someone at the end of the phone. When the scaffolding blocked the sky signal to our elderly neighbour (who was isolated due to Covid restrictions) the office arranged an aerial tradesman that day to solve the issue. The workmen worked hard, were polite and helpful and tidied up each evening. Once the job was complete they tidied the site making sure that there was no mess left.

We had a very leaky roof and bay window which was causing dampness on the ceiling of a bedroom. The two men that came were very professional and helpful and we felt comfortable leaving them to do their work while we were away to work. We haven't had any issue since the work was done! We are very grateful for the fantastic work and happy with the result.
