We are in agreement with all the positive comments in previous reviews. This particular job involved extensive repairs to a very complicated roof on a very large Victorian house, now split into 4 flats. Apart from the challenges of the roof, it was a matter of keeping 4 separate households happy, and we would not hesitate to recommend James, his employees and the scaffolding firm he uses.
Unlike the experience with other firms, everything was made straightforward from start to finish, with James turning up when he said he would and completing an excellent job at a fair price. He was at all times professional, reliable, honest, trustworthy and skilled in his trade, as were his employees. He provided "before and after" photos and guarantees, and kept us well-informed at all times, managing to complete in good time despite abysmal weather. Everything was left very tidy.
We will be using James again in the near future, to provide better ventilation for the roof void. It was a pleasure to use the services of this company.

Lead work done to the join between the roof and neighbouring building. James gave realistic timelines and this was far preferable to being given falsely optimistic advice (as most people have probably found, roofers have been incredibly busy). James and his guys did an absolutely first class job right from the moment we first spoke about the job through to the completion of the work. Ridge tiles replaced with new dry ridge system and all soffits and fascias with UPVC and old cement tifting replaced with new PVC verges. A new GRP valley was also replaced - as well as a number of broken and cracked tiles.

James Wilson Roofing replaced my roof and installed two roof windows and 2 light tunnels.

The whole process was great from beginning to end. He quoted quickly, stuck to the quote, kept me informed on progress and any changes throughout, and had a real eye on customer satisfaction.

His scaffolding contractor and roofing team were considerate and helpful (e.g. with vehicle access and neighbours) and completed the work in good time.

It was clear James and the team took pride in their work and the finished product reflects that.

Our house was built in 1962 and the soffits and fascias had seen better days, the cement verges were crumbling and the cast iron gutters were leaking. James Wilson was recommended by our neighbours’ daughter who had used his company previously. James came promptly when contacted and quickly provided a quote for the work. He also explained how busy he was and when he would be able to do the work. Immediately prior to commencing the job, James visited again just to check exactly what was required. The job was completed to a high standard and within the time stated and our garden was left clean and tidy afterwards. A few days later we had some particularly heavy rain which highlighted a very minor issue with rain running off the flat extension roof and some of it missing the new gutter. I stress that this was nothing to do with James Wilson’s workmanship but a problem with whoever built the flat roof originally. I contacted James that night and he was there the following afternoon to take a look and fixed the problem there and then. Only when I was completely satisfied did James send his invoice. I highly recommend James Wilson and will definitely use this company again for future roofing work.

James re roofed our bungalow in Aug/Sept 2021 replacing the old cement pantiles with new Sandtoft clay ones.
This was a project we had been putting off for some years because of its size and to us was quite daunting.

James and his team did a grand job installing an insulated PVC membrane on our large flat concrete house roof (WW2 built) They were professional, courteous and efficient, took extra time to make sure the job was finished correctly, but still did the whole thing within 4 working days. James was always available in person or at the end of the phone, and he and the team were open to any queries we had. Despite prices going up due to Covid supply issues, the quote was honoured. We did have to wait a while for James' team to be available, but it was worth it. With the 15 year guarantee we have peace of mind too. Highly recommend this trader.

Wilson Roofing fixed a leak in our slate-tiled roof.

Restore structural strength and replace low level roof at front of property: We moved in to our newly completed 'Wilcon' Home in 1999 and a few years ago we had our entire roofline (including soft wood facias, soffits and gutters) replaced with UPVC. During this process we discoved that Wilcon had failed to properly secure the front elevation and the whole of the roof was coming away from the main building; the apex over the front door had actually tilted downwards!
We requested a quote from Wilson Roofing to make good this problem. James came along to have a look and gave us sound advice regarding our project plan which had included stripping of the roof, replacement of timbers, properly securing of the entire structure and re-roofing with lighter materials.
James' team worked tirelessly and the site was always kept as clean as possible given the scope of the work being carried out. The job was completed within four days to our great satisfaction. I would certainly recommend this company for their reliable and honest work ethic. Thanks James.

James Wilson and his team replaced our original slate roof and the completed work is fantastic. They were very professional and thorough and kept the mess to a minimum, which was much appreciated in a house with 3 kids!

We had a new roof fitted plus removal and re-fitting of Solar Panels. From initially meeting James for old roof assessment right through to completion of work he was courteous, friendly and explained everything in detail. Until work could begin he actually done a temporary repair on our old roof to stop it leaking.

When the work started everything was on time from skip arriving and Solar Panels being removed and again James kept in contact to explain everything that was happening to timings. His men that work for him were all courteous and extremely tidy. From scaffolding going up to completion of job to scaffolding and skip being removed it was all completed on schedule.

When the work had been completed James came down and went over all the work answering any questions we had and making sure that we were satisfied before payment was asked for. As soon as the scaffolding was removed one of James's men promptly turned up to sweep and tidy up.

This company replaced my roof and removed a chimney for me. Very fair price as its quite a large L shaped roof. Excellent communications to let me know what was happening and when, and excellent quality of work. Also organised another tradesman when they correctly spotted that some replacement brickwork was required. Highly recommended.

....And they kindly put up a couple of birdboxes in the eaves for my Mrs as theres no way I'd be up a ladder that high :)

Repointing of chimney, ridges and replacing flashing. The guys were polite and answered all questions. They tidied up after themselves.

I contacted James Wilson for a quote to renew my roof, replace guttering and downpipes,replace velux window, install fascias and soffits and re render chimney. I was impressed with James attitude and the way he advised the work needed done. The quote was e-mailed on time and the price was very fair, which I accepted . This was prior to lockdown, so job was delayed. When Wilson Roofing got back to non emergency work, James kept me informed of his busy schedule. Work commenced in mid September and I couldn't be more pleased with the final result. James and his team kept me informed as the work progressed and at the end of each day the area was left safe and tidy. James came to the building very promptly after first contact; he outlined the work clearly and submitted a written wuote very soon after his visit. the work was completed as soon as weather allowed and the site was tidied up.

I was very impressed with James' work and professionalism. We had a ridge tile that needed replaced to make our roof water tight. While they were on my roof they found 2 tiles were cracked so replaced them as well. I appreciated his honesty telling me the state of my roof, which we knew already. We know we need to replace the whole roof in the near future and I will not hesitate to contact James for a quote.

we had a badly leaking roof at our rental property and James was suggested by
our letting agent. James came out within 24hrs and did a full inspection of the roof
and took pictures so I could see the damage myself.
On seeing the damage we decided to replace the full roof, including a new
membrane and timber batons.
Although the weather was awful and caused some delays, which was no-one's
fault, James kept us fully informed throughout the process.
The new roof looks fantastic, and James even sorted out the ill-fitting guttering

James and his team did a great job. They replaced our old cement verge, which was unsafe, with a uPVC one. All soffits, fascias and gutters were removed and replaced with maintenance free uPVC. All rubbish was removed and the site was left clean and tidy. A couple of weeks later we also got our cladding replaced by James. He was very accommodating to fitting this around us getting a door and window replaced.

Kept up to date with deliveries, progress and when the job would be carried out. James always turned up when he said he would.

Whole roof was retiled back in September. Most of work carried out whilst we were away. Due to weather it took a day longer than planned but job was done in a week! Amazing.

We discovered a leak in our bedroom ceiling and contacted James Wilson to ask if he could help. He visited property a few days later to assess the roof. He explained the issues to us without using technical jargon and also used photos to help us understand the problem. We were provided with a quote soon after and agreed to proceed with the repairs.
James carried out the work the following week and again used photos to show the areas being repaired and the finished job.

Repairing the roof and replacing dry verges following work done by bogus workmen and replacing the guttering on the roof of our extension.
On his initial visit, Mr Wilson went onto the roof to see for himself what was required to be done. There, he saw one job that needed immediate attention and completed emergency repairs straightaway.
On completion of the work we discovered a couple of areas that needed a little more attention. We emailed Mr Wilson and within two hours he was at our home to fix the problems.

James replaced the old tatty wooden facias and soffits on our house with upvc as well as installing new gutters and down pipes which gave the house a much needed face lift. James was very professional throughout and work was carried out quickly with minimal disruption.

Contacted Mr Wilson and asked him for roof repair quote... He came round to my property and had a look at roof and then came back later with a quote. I then decided to go ahead and have my entire roof replaced with a new one, instead of a repair, at a price of almost £5000.

The scaffolding went up, at front and back of my property, on the following Friday afternoon and work began on the Monday morning. The job was completed the following Tuesday and i am very happy with my new roof! It looks fabulous and makes a huge difference to my property. I paid Mr Wilson after job was completed and was given a 20 year guarantee too...
