Spruce Garden Services/Puzzled Monkey Landscaping repaired/rebuilt 18m of our wooden garden fence in March. The team carried out the work in atrocious conditions where it rained heavily every day. They did a great job and we are very pleased with the finished fence. The team were very helpful, polite and hard working. Would not hesitate to recommend them.

Tidy up of front and rear gardens. Thoroughly and efficiently carried out despite the very wet weather. Looks fantastic! Have used them in the past and will again in the future.

I had a total do-over of my small city garden by Spruce and could not be more delighted with the result. The guys were consummate professionals from initial consultation onwards; always checking in to see I was happy with detail and process. We have long dreamed of an outdoor space that is low maintenance but still high on greenery. We can't wait to spend more time in our urban oasis and can't thank the wonderful crew of designer, gardeners and landscapers enough.

I had the company out to pressure wash my front and back mono block. A lovely man called Robert arrived and he was an excellent worker, nothing was too much trouble for him, he moved all my garden pots and replaced them when he finished the pressure washing. I have used Spruce before to prune my lilac tree and they always give you excellent service.
The office staff are so friendly and helpful, a great company to use.

Spruce Garden Services came and gave our front and back gardens a really good tidy up...Craig came to see the garden first and give us a quote and made some great suggestions as to what could be done. Our garden was looking very overgrown and neglected and Micky and Flynn completely transformed everything making it look so lovely and tidy! They pruned various plants, weeded loads, cut back branches, re potted a plant, cleared all the leaves and moss and did an AMAZING job. Both Flynn and Micky worked so hard all morning, they were super friendly and very knowledgeable too. Our unkempt and untidy garden is looking so clear, tidy and loved again! They took away all the garden trimmings and gave everything a really good sweep at the end. Thank you so so much Flynn and Micky and all at Spruce Garden Services, we were so impressed by everything you did from the initial call from the office, to Craig coming to give us a quote, to Micky and Flynn doing the work and the friendly staff at the office that we spoke to too! Excellent tree-trimming.

Superb service. Helpful, good communication, courteous, eye for detail, quality end product and v friendly team.

The work done was a winter tidy-up, the removal of a large tree and relocation of another one. The work was completed quickly in tricky conditions (the ground was VERY hard). Our instructions were carried out well, for the most part.

We required an end of year garden tidy up both at back and front of our house. This involved getting rid of remaining leaves, cutting back of plants and bushes, grass cutting and deck cleaning. We also had the paving stones, which form the path to our front door, reset. The men, who did the work, worked hard and conscientiously and we were very pleased with the end result. The job was completed in good time and they left no mess. I highly recommend them.

Team responded quickly to the initial response, and got a surveyor around quickly to assess what was needed to remove a whole bunch of brambles. Had a new garden fence installed in back garden. Sam and the team did a great job. They were well organised polite and hard working. They had to come through the house to access the garden but took great care bringing supplies etc through and also took time to leave everything clean, neat and tidy when job finished. After spending months trying to find a gardener to take on our large communal garden I found an absolutely first class gardening service. We have them on a maintenance service and also they have just completed a winter clean up. The gardeners are all so friendly, polite, professional and listen to everything that you want. They do an excellent job and are punctual and clean up after them. The office staff are so lovely too, phoning to make sure we are happy with the work. Excellent company and would recommend to anyone.

We employed Spruce Garden Services for a general garden tidy up, which included giving our hedge a much needed prune pruned back all shrubs and roses also the wisteria and honeysuckle over the arbour etc etc. They removed all the green waste and dead leaves and left our garden clean and tidy.

This is the second occasion I've used Spruce Garden Services, this time to build new borders/steps, as well as laying a new path. I'm very pleased with the work.
The weather was horrendous for a few days (pouring rain!), however the guys remained resilient and continued working, and were professional, friendly and cheerful, as well as very hardworking.

Having struggled to find a local gardener willing to do a one off pre-Winter tidy up, I was delighted to find Spruce Garden Services to be willing to take this on. They displayed excellent customer service throughout, turned up on the day arranged and worked efficiently. All staff were very courteous and personable, listened carefully to what I wanted done and carried it out to the letter, tidying all mess up behind them. I contacted Spruce for a quote to do an overall tidy, weed and garden clean up. They must be good as the day job took 6- 8 weeks to schedule but the date arrived soon enough.
The two gardeners who came to do the work were polite, enthusiastic and knew their stuff. Suggesting which plants and trees to keep, trim and remove.
I am more than pleased with the result and would not hesitate to recommend. Will definitely use again.

We have no complaints at all.

We have a large courtyard style driveway that is shared by 4 properties. It was in poor condition, pathing slabs were uneven, broken and dangerous to walk on.
The team at Puzzeled Monkey gave us a very competitive quote for the amount of work involved. This included digging out the whole area to a depth of 270mm, putting in good quality foundations, putting edgings around all flower beds and then block paving the entire area.
The whole job took 5 weeks from start to finish, the team were very hard working and nothing we asked was too much trouble. All 4 households are thrilled with the finish, we all agree that it is better than we expected. Our thanks to Craig, Willie, Alan and the team for all their hard work and an excellent finish.

I have used Spruce Gardens several times now and I'm always extremely happy with their work.
I have a small front and back garden with a rockery but it can become quite overgrown at times.
They make a super job of cutting back shrubs and doing general maintenance.

We had brick work on the house adjacent to two sets of back door steps and the steps themselves which needed repairing and rebuilding after a botched landscaping job a few years ago. There were also a few other well-weathered and broken bricks at the corner under our bay window. The team from Spruce Garden Service / Puzzled Monkey were super! They were friendly and respectful, hard-working, careful and thorough - tidying everything fully at the end of each day. They even took the old steps' riser blocks/stones away for disposal. Thank you to Craig for taking on the job, and to Alan, Neil, Mike, and Flash for your professional workmanship! We are very happy with the result and I would definitely recommend and use them again.

The team from Spruce did a wonderful job. We tasked them with taking up a garden of artificial grass, digging up underlay, putting down new topsoil, laying turf and rebuilding a collapsed step. Communications were excellent throughout, they took care to make sure they were getting the brief right and were lovely, cheerful and polite throughout the week. The jobs were done efficiently, sensitive to the neighbours, and all waste removed. The lawn and stepping stones look lovely, and we’re really looking forward to planting all the beds. Guys worked quickly through pouring rain all morning (it was pretty torrential). They were very polite and insisted on mopping up their unavoidable footprints for us when finished. You’d never know they had been through the house with wheelbarrows full of material. First class service, thanks guys!

The chaps did an excellent job of trimming our beech hedge which had other things growing through it in many places. It's quite an extensive one and was badly in need of TLC. It's looking very tidy now.

Spruce Garden removed an old timber deck and installed a new composite deck using Millboard products. The enhanced grain golden oak deck looks lovely and is more robust and sustainable than old deck; no more oiling required and easy to clean with soap and water. Special thanks to Jason and Cameron who undertook the time consuming work of adding 60-70 ground posts under the new deck to help stabilise the structure. Highly recommended.

From quoting to progressing work, the team at Spruce Garden Services were professional and engaging.
Sam led the build, and worked with his team tirelessly to take down and rebuild a wall. Very professional manner, keeping us informed on progress and next steps. Consistently tidied up the site at the end of each day, and cleaned all the facing stone work to a high quality. Very impressed - before and after picture added.

Fabulous work by all the guys who came to take down our old large decking, clear the site including a rather tricky old tree stump, and build a new patio and gravel area. Very accommodating when asked to tweak the patio location to maximise time in sun and incorporating two posts to allow us to install a gate. Looks great and looking forward to getting on with some pots/planting (and the return of some sun for fullest enjoyment :-D!).

Clean and tidy job

Spruce have been cutting the tall beech hedge in front of our tenement flat for three years now. Before that I did it myself so I am very fussy about how the job is done. They have followed my instructions so precisely that I’m very happy with their work and no longer feel the need to cut the hedge myself.

Front and back garden tidy up. Front was very overgrown, weeding done all around the property. Very thorough and left the property tidy upon completion of work.

The Spruce Gardening team have taken excellent care of my garden so far -- they come every two weeks and always show up on time and on schedule and my garden always looks great afterwards. Someone is always available to answer the phone and they always answer my emails. Very happy with the service and would recommend.

The job was replacing uneven, crumbling concrete steps leading into our garden. Craig came and discussed our options, then left a detailed quote. We were away during most of the work, so it was a pleasure to return to find new, and safe, stone stairway just requiring pointing - and with the site left clean and tidy. A minor issue we had with the edge of one step was sorted when the pointing was completed the following Monday. We're very pleased with the quality of the work and all our interactions with Craig, the office, and the site team were pleasant and professional.

Block paving of front garden removed. Area excavated and new top soil added. Small wall demolished and new one built. Every member of the team worked exceptionally hard and they were all extremely pleasant and friendly.

The cost was as estimated and was completed to time. Indeed the agreed start date was brought forward.

A new roof was constructed for my garden shed and fitted.

Everyone we worked with at Spruce were friendly, polite and happy to answer any questions we had right from the beginning.

From our initial conversations with Clive on the design right through to Jason and his team doing the landscaping, we were well informed and always felt our opinions were valued and questions would be answered.

Despite some challenges with harsh weather delaying progress, Spruce did everything in their control to ensure the work would be done as quickly as possible. They were very tidy workers and respected our property which we really appreciated.

Landscaping of a portion of my garden to create raised beds & a composting facility. The service was very prompt & efficient. The work was of a high quality despite being carried out in freezing weather conditions.

Fencing replaced. The team called to say they could come early and quickly assessed that they could replace the panels and would need some minor alterations - this was all handled quickly and after the first visit the fence was in good order. The team came returned to finish the job properly - great service.

Spruce carry out our communal gardening work. We have found Spruce to be helpful, responsive and reliable.

Used Spruce Garden Services (again!) to remove four large tonne bags of old chippings from a driveway and then transport and offload at a local allotment site. The job was done by the guys (Euan, Mikey, Aaron) quickly, cheerfully and everything was cleaned up after the job too. Highly recommend!

We recently had our garden revamped by Spruce Garden Services. We had patio paving, a path, gate and fence installed and our small lawn returfed. The quality of customer service was exemplary, from our initial consultation to discuss our requirements through to completion of the work. Everyone we dealth with was professional but relaxed, answering our questions and making sure we were informed as the work progressed. Special mention should be made of Alan and Ronnie who were assigned to carry out the bulk of our work. As well as working meticulously to a high standard, they were always on hand to update us or offer advice. Their friendly demeanour and approachability was not only noted by ouselves but some of our neighbours too. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Spruce Garden Services to others.

We are very pleased with the work done. Our gardens, back and front, had become very overgrown and were badly in need of a thorough tidy up before winter. The team have transformed them. They were pleasant, polite, worked very hard on a miserable day. We will certainly have them back, and have already recommended them to neighbours.

We've had Spruce do the works in our garden for the past 3 years. They are excellent, very reliable and thorough. They are not cheap, but in my view it's worth it to get a good quality job done. They also provide excellent advice on planting and landscaping. Highly recommended!

Spruce did a big pruning job for us and did a great job of it. Very polite and friendly folk as well. They can be a bit slow getting back to you when quoting but worth persevering with as the work done is great.

The garden slopes away from the house at 45 degrees. There are many steps.
It took two men all day to clear the area and countless trips up and down. They worked extremely hard and consulted me whenever necessary, leaving the area much improved. A job well done.

Excellent customer service from Lucy in the office; she kept me fully informed of arrival times and managed to swap the schedule round at the last minute to accommodate. The guys did an excellent job of very neatly cutting back large hedges (and I'm quite a perfectionist), every bit as good as I've had done by well known tree surgeons, and cleaned up absolutely beautifully!

I have used Spruce on a number of occasions and have always been very happy with their work. On this occasion they replaced a dilapidated fence at the bottom of our back garden (which overlooked a neighbour's garden at a lower level) with reinforced timber beams.

Spruce gardens trim the hedges round my house every year…..it’s a good 1 or 2 days of work but they do a great job of it…very professional and friendly service and they always make a great job of clearing up afterwards.

i used the company last year to replace my driveway and paths and to build a decking area. All the work was exemplary, and they provided excellent advice regarding the design of the drive and the decking . The team were extremely efficient and they left the site very clear after work was completed. All communication was clear and timely and they delivered exactly what we wanted.

I would recommend strongly and have recently used them again for a winter garden tidy up. This was carried out very efficiently to a high standard, and with close consultation with me throughout.

My initial contact with them was via the Trusted Trader scheme and in this case it worked very well.

Spruce Garden Services worked tirelessly over two and a bit weeks and totally transformed our outside space. We had purchased a neglected patch of council land and wanted to convert it into an attractive outdoor space for our Childcare setting. The transformation provides areas for play, quiet time and learning to grow our own plants. The work was carried out promptly and efficiently by a very sociable team. We could not be more pleased with the changes that have been made and look forward to having this team maintain the plot for us in the future.

We bought a new home last year - it came with grass front and back but with minimal paving. The back garden also had a significant slope on it. We had clear ideas for what we wanted to do and pitched our requirements to a host of landscaping firms, most of which were on this website.

All helped improve our design but ultimately we went for Spruce - their quote was very competitive and guaranteed irrespective of any rising material costs. We were also impressed with Craig's suggestions as to how we could make the design better. We awarded them the work in November 2021 with the expectation that work would begin in June 2022. Thankfully they were able to bring forward the work date and work began on site in late March.

Clive was the overall director of the landscaping and the planting work. Jason was the project leader and was onsite daily for the four weeks of the transformation. He was aided by a whole host of team members and there were rarely less than 3 people on site - all of the team were very polite and very easy to get on with. So thank you to Willy, Alan, Kieran, Valentino, Flash, Robert and Scott. Throughout we were impressed with their attention to detail of the work, the paving in particular, that has resulted in in a high quality finish.

Clive created a planting design for front and back and that was just done in late June - it looks great and hopefully it will bed down and mature through time. Thanks to Mike and Aaron for the planting.

We now have great looking gardens front and back that fully meet what we wanted. We would happily recommend Spruce for landscaping and gardening work.

Fabulous all round service from the team at Spruce!

Turned a relatively small area, approx 7m x 5m, with an old deck and drab chippings into a lovely green space! Total transformation and very happy with the results. Special shout out to all the guys on the hard landscaping side of things - Scott, Alan and Ronnie - who were tireless workers and very helpful and tidy too, and also Clive who was extremely knowledgeable, skilful and helpful with the planting plan, design aspects and support during the course of the job.

Reduction in height of high leylandii hedge. The job was well done and all debris collected and cleared by the operatives. I would definitely recommend Spruce Garden Services to all my friends.

We had an overgrown front garden completely cleared and landscaped ready for planting. The work was done carefully and well, and fully tidied up afterwards. All of the team were polite and friendly and quickly solved any problems that came up.

I asked Spruce Gardens to replace a couple of trellis panels which had been damaged during the winter storms. The guys did an excellent job taking out the old posts and panels and installing the new panels. I was also particularly impressed by the way they tidied up after completion of the job.

New fence installed. Spruce Garden Services turned up to do the quote and work when agreed. Provided the quote quickly and had very good suggestions about how the fence could be built. Completed the work quickly and neatly and did a very good job.

We have used the Services of Spruce Gardens for many years and wouldn’t not go anywhere else. In addition to our normal garden maintenance they recently removed some unwanted large bushes- very efficient!

Spruce Garden Services have done a marvelous job of constructing my patio. I am pleased with it. I am very impressed with their professionalism and expertise. The men involved were hard working and perfectly delightful. No mess was left as they made sure that they tidied up at the end of every day.

They turned up to give a quote at a mutually agreed date and time, and agreed the extent of works, giving advice on how the works would be best carried out......not at additional cost.
They carried out the agreed works, which included pruning a fair sized Rowan Tree, on agreed date and time,  and we were delighted  with the way the works were carried out.
The two guys who came to do the work were polite, hardworking and checked in for clarification before any works were started.

We will be using them again, and would have no hesitation in recommending them.

General tidy of front and back gardens (weeding borders, grass cutting, pruning, etc.). The guys worked very hard for over 2 hours and did a thoroughly professional job. I will now be using the service for regular maintenance over the forthcoming season.

Spruce Garden Services completed some work on a shared tenement garden in Edinburgh, organised by myself. They were very accommodating for scheduling around my time requirements.

The work completed was to a good standard and a discussed, if there were any ambiguities they checked with me.

They completed everything quickly and with no fuss.

Spruce Garden Services did a great job on a complete makeover of our small, urban garden. They were hard-working and professional, on time and on budget. They coped well with having very little space to work in and nowhere to park outside our house - they had to ferry all their kit and all the new slabs, plants, gravel, and soil from the end of the road. They also impressed the neighbours, who were very grateful that, when they finished each day, they tidied up and hosed down the pavement and the street that they had to use as a work area so as not to inconvenience anyone.

They fulfilled their brief completely and I would strongly recommend them.

Pruning of wisteria and placing of support wires. End results were satisfactory but co-ordination between the two Spruce teams involved (gardeners to do the pruning and landscapers to fix the wires) was poor, with the result that both teams had to return for a second visit in order to tie the pruned wisteria to the newly affixed wires.

Spruce did a lovely job of bringing our back garden up to date. I was particularly impressed by the politeness of their employees. They tidied up each evening and were very helpful and respectful.

There was one very minor snagging issue that was sorted out speedily, and it was apparent that customer service is Spruce's priority.

I would not hesitate to use them again and I would certainly recommend them.

I have used Spruce for a number of years both landscaping my garden and general pruning and maintenance and would recommend their work. They turn up when they say, do a good job and clear up after themselves. They are polite and great to deal with. They are not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. Would definitely recommend.

From our first point of contact with Sean to arrange a quote with Clive we knew right away that we wanted Spruce Garden Services to carry out the work on our drive. We wanted total replacement and widened. Clive listened to what we wanted, gave suggestions followed by a quote, which we felt was very reasonable. We got a date, and this was brought forward.
Willie and Tino arrived on time and worked nonstop through horrendous weather to get the existing drive etc. lifted. Next day prep, followed by laying the bricks. From start to finish 3 days. The guys were really nice and we felt very at ease with them. The rest of our property was treated respectfully and no damage. Consideration was given to how the work was being Impacted on neighbours.
I always go on first impressions and would have no doubt in recommending Spruce, first class service from start to finish, amazing guys doing the job.

Spruce Garden Services carried out grounds maintenance at one of our large stores in Edinburgh. The staff were more than happy to give the following feedback -

The grounds' maintenance went very well, they were here for the last 3 days and went around the entire building and car park, didn’t disturb customers and disposed of all their waste as they worked so nothing left aside at any point. Building exterior and car park looks great now.

We are very pleased with the work carried out by Spruce Garden Services. The job was done in agreed timescale and they kindly organised the skip delivery/collection for the debris. The guys from Spruce cleared our front garden of rocks, unwanted trees and shrubs, as well as removing 3 large dead trees from our back garden and huge pampas grass. Very professional throughout and left the place spotless. We would highly recommend to anyone wanting garden clearance.
