Nick & Mark did a marvellous job repairing and extending our wooden garden fence. They also removed a tree that had been growing near the house for over 50 years. Also a bush was removed.

Nick and his colleague undertook replacement of a large wooden gate post that had broken near the base. They arrived at the site at time specified, completed the work as agreed, removed the old concreted post, tidied up the site as well as fitting new hinges to the wooden gate.

This company was hired to provide garden maintenance initially lawn mowing and weed removal and hedge trimming. However, the quote for weed removal was not included in the final quote, so that lawn mowing and hedge trimming were the services provided. I selected this company based in large part on the glowing reviews I read here. In fact the service I received in no way reflected the experience of the many reviews. Tasks I requested to be done in the initial meeting with Nick were not being done unless I pointed them out to Nick, they then might be done at the next visit then not again. I asked that Nick inform me when when he arrived for each visit this was done only twice and both times as he was leaving. A lounger that was moved was not returned to its usual place with the result that during a rainstorm that particular evening it fell over and flattened a lavender bed. A tall hedge was clipped at the end of June, was so badly done that in places looks as though it was never done and I will have to clip it once more. This was an appalling experience.

Nick is polite, does a good job for a reasonable price and turns up when he says he will - highly recommend! He's done a garden tidy up a few times now, very happy with his work.

I have been using this company regularly for around 6 years and prior to that every now and again for one-off jobs like shrub clearing. In the last 6 years they have carried out grass cutting, laying new turf, trimming shrubs,
spreading mulch over borders, applying weedkiller where necessary,
erecting new fence posts and recently scarifying my grass and applying a moss killer. Communication is excellent. My late mother also used them for many years. I am very happy with Nicholas Hill Gardening.

I had nothing short of a jungle at the front / street side of my flat. Some of it was very awkward, dense and extremely jagged type of stuff.
The two guys came at the time they said they would and set about it. They chopped down everything we had agreed when Nick was doing the estimate. They removed all the stuff to their vans and trailers for going to the dump and cleaned up all the small loose stuff as well. They put in a near 3 hour non stop graft. I couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome. I would DEFINITELY recommend them to anyone for gardening work.

P.S. The only downside was that I have full length , wide, glass windows and with the “ jungle “ gone it showed up just how dirty the windows were! They hadn’t been washed for a long time. I did them all the day after the gardening job.

We had a slightly complex replacement fence issue and the requirement to replace a garden gate as well. Nick assesed what was required. He provided me with a comprehensive quotation and carried out the works to my entire satisfaction.

Old broken path removed and replaced with new slabs and drainage. The new path looks good and after a return visit to fix a slight drainage issue the path is draining well. Nick turned up when he said he would has always responded promptly to enquiries.

The two guys from Nicholas Hill Garden Construction did a good job. Quick, quiet, tidy, skilled; everything you'd want from a garden service. Followed our COVID-19 related requests faultlessly.

Price was fair rather than 'cheap', hence the 4 stars rather than 5. But happy to pay for quality service.

My mother and I have known Nick for over fifteen years. We first used his services at my Mother's large garden house in Colinton. Nick kept the garden under control for her.

When she down sized to her house in Fairmilehead straight away we engaged Nick to bring the tired garden under control. We also had areas of work that required his input and action. This included removing an old tree and replacing a dangerous shared fence between neighbours.

This is the second job Nick has done for me. I had a tricky fence repair that needed to be done. Nick came out and gave a reasonable quote which I decided to go with. I was able to get the fence panels delivered before works started as it allowed me to paint them in the garage. His employees turned up on time & got the job done in no time at all. They were clean, efficient & polite. Would definitely recommend them & use again.

We needed a new fence & some trellis panels put up. I had been let down by several other firms before contacting Nick but from the outset he proved to be reliable & professional and was honest about timescales for any work starting. Ronan & Mark completed the work with good advice on my options and with amazing attention to detail. They were a treat to have around, left the place immaculate and even replaced the patio table and chairs before I saw the work finished for the first time which was a lovely touch. We are delighted with the outcome & will definitely be calling Nick for future work.

i have a small garden and all the old shrubs and contents of tubs needed to be taken out and new shrubs/small plants put in.

i also needed the broken top of brickwork weather proofed.

several trees needed trimmed, as well as weeds dealt with on my path.

once all this work was done nick took away all the waste.

Had my old decking removed and new decking installed. Nick’s team was absolutely superb-really hard working and lovely to deal with (saw Ronan a few times and he was so helpful).the job was done incredibly well and in the timescale promised (for the fee agreed). Would highly recommend

We had a garden fence installed recently by Nick Hill Garden Construction and are very happy with the work and the advice we received from Nick in choosing something suitable for our garden. Communication was excellent, and Nick and the team were friendly and professional throughout. They were punctual on the day and left the garden tidy when the work was complete. I will certainly return to Nick for any further big jobs in the garden.

Nick's team did a great job in landscaping our back garden, were a pleasure to have on site, tidied up after themselves every day and could not be faulted. We plan to sort out our front garden out next year and will only be speaking with Nick.

Both guys made a great job of cutting a twelve foot hedge in my back garden. They were polite, friendly, cleared up afterwards and turned up when they said they would. The final price was as estimated with no hidden extras. I have already recommended Nicholas to a neighbour of mine.

This is the first time I have used Nicholas Hill Garden Construction - I was needing a eucalyptus tree cut back and a very large garden hedge cut. Nicholas Hill Garden Construction company have been looking after my garden for over a year. This company is not the cheapest however the workforce are totally reliable and trustworthy. When people are working in your home, I deem this to be a necessary requirement. Any request of mine is met with an immediate response and carried out promptly. I am an organic gardener and the staff are happy to work this way even though it makes the job more laborious.
