Mitchell Roofing

Had 2 chimneys removed and exposed roof re-slated, dormer flat roof stripped and re-layered, all 4 ridges removed and replaced with modern dry-fit system. Also all missing/slipped slates re-seated/replaced. Some minor repairs to existing cast iron rhones and down pipes also done.

From the moment Jackie and his brother Harry came round to survey the job I had "good vibes". I have had previous roofing work done on my property (totally different part of roof to current job) and actual roofers doing the job seemed much less experienced than the man who did the survey and prepared the quote. Jackie assured me he would be present on site every day during the work and indeed he was (sometimes for an hour or so; sometimes all day working with the rest of the team).

This company seems to be based around 2 brothers and their respective sons. All seem very capable roofers and clearly they all "pull in the same direction". Nothing was subcontracted except the scaffolding and even then the scaffolder told me later, when he returned to dismantle the scaffold that he had been doing scaffolding for the Mitchells for about 20 yrs. It says a lot to me that this is the case. This is not a "fly by night" set up.

Work was done to a very high standard. The whole team was always friendly and considerate. They tidied up at the end of each day and always kept me up to speed with the work as it progressed.

I cannot recommend this team (and I use that term rather than "company" deliberately as they do seem to be a true team; not just a bunch of semi-independent people) highly enough. Having had the work done I would not use any other roofers in the future.

The only thing I don't know is whether I could have got the work done more cheaply. I only got one quote (Mitchell's) and I went with that because it seemed more or less in line pro rata with what I paid several years ago and because the vibes seemed so good. Even if it could have been done a bit more more cheaply it would have had to have been one heck of an outfit to do the work any better. So overall I am more than satisfied.........generally speaking "you gets what you pays for". I had a good job done for what I consider a fair price.

The last job we had totally sorted a long-standing, but occasional, leak and was very competitively priced.

Repairs to roof. I had tried various firms who either failed to follow up after assessing the job or said they were too busy. Mitchell Roofing were recommended by a friend and they did not disappoint. Excellent in every respect. Very professional. And the final bill was less than the original estimate! Following a torrential rain shower on August 9th - during which we had water leaking into our bedroom - Jackie and Harry came to inspect the damage as promptly as they could, given the demands on them from others who were doubtless in a similar situation. They were very professional from the outset, handing me a business card as soon as I opened the door. Jackie went on to our flat roof, found the source of the leak at the side of the dormer window and re-positioned the roof flashing which had slipped out of place. They were in our house for about 15 minutes but would not take any payment for this! I was very impressed and very grateful. Needless to say the firm is highly recommended and I will not hesitate to call on Jackie and Harry again. So far all is well but the roof will only really be tested when we have another very, very heavy shower!

Mitchell roofing have carried out different repairs on my flat roof over the years and I have always found them to be very trustworthy and reliable. Mr Mitchell even came out recently to do a repair and, due to it being minor, wouldn't take any payment. I would definitely recommend Mitchell roofing for any work needed.

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to Mitchell Roofing as my Mum who is in her 70’s called out Mitchell Roofing after she had water damage to her bedroom ceiling. Various leaks repaired that were due to negligent work by previous roofers. But also a very awkward and unusual flat roof repaired and left in much better condition than it has ever been.
It has all been tested, in one day, by 3 inches of snow followed by several hours of driving rain, during which I watched the damp patches drying up.

Mitchells have carried out works for me a number of times over the years. They provide a very efficient and effective service at good value, and they are extremely friendly and approachable. I definitely recommend them.

I contacted Mitchell roofing on behalf of my 90 year old mother in law who was in total isolation due to the Corona Virus and who had a slate missing from her roof.

Mr Mitchell responded very quickly and not only replaced the slate but also checked the roof for any other problems and removed some debris from the roof gutters.

I asked for advice about whether I needed repair work done on cracked roughcast on the front and back of my house. They called me to arrange a visit quickly, came when they said they would, arrived with proof of who they were, and after assessing the cracks I was concerned about they actually advised me that I didn't need major work done and gave me advice on how to do the minimal repair work needed myself. Incredibly helpful and very professional, if I need any further work on the roof or building I'd definitely be contacting them again.

We highly recommend Jackie Mitchell and his professional team of men as we are very pleased with the repairs they carried out on our roof, fixing the 4 separate leaks we had coming into our house. After contacting many Edinburgh roofing companies and failing to get any to come and repair my roof, I was delighted when Jackie Mitchell from Mitchell Roofing arrived on time and in person and gave me a quote. His men arrived on time on the day and did a fantastic job repairing my old leaky roof. The men were polite and worked quickly and efficiently and their standard of work was second to none.
