We have now used Keith Gunn for 7/8 years. Initially they rewired our flat - and came to the rescue when a phone charger burned out, throwing the fuses.
More recently - the jobs the costs refer to - they have installed the essential smoke alarms etc and replaced old style lights in the hallway of the flat.
We have always been impressed by all aspects of their work - from initial contact to prompt arrival and neat tidy work. Their employees are always pleasant!

My new cooker was delivered 10 days early. I booked KGES promptly to install. At first this was 24 hours later, however KGES were able to move this forward to a couple hours after my initial call. The Electrician was prompt, polite, professional. The install was completed quickly after testing existing connections. After connecting, the cooker was fully tested. He detailed when the invoice would be received, and how to finalise payment. From start to finish, everything was made clear - more importantly all promises were kept and to a high standard. This was a small and urgent job, and KGES have proven themselves to be reliable and honest - and if I need an electrician again KGES will be my first call.

A manager came to our office to survey and quote and nothing seemed a problem to him which was positive. Then an electrician came to ensure all the electrics had appropriate readings to be able to carry out the light installations, and despite a few problems with our old electrics, he managed to resolve them effectively. Very efficient service. Two engineers came to do annual PAT and five year EICR report. Very friendly and knowledgeable engineers backed up by good management. Arrived on time and completed work as agreed. Will be using again.

The firm did various electrical work on my more than 200 years old terraced house. This included carrying out EICR, supplying & installing consumer unit to replace DB1, replacing light in stairwell, converting several single sockets to double, working on faulty light switch and light and installing earth bonding to water pipe. Additionally sorting problems with outside light, bathroom fan, supplying and installing fuses, etc.

From the first contact, the staff were friendly and responsive, offering advice and information. The work was carried out with minimum of disruption and looked immaculate. The electrician asked if more was required and explained things clearly.
Finally, I was very impressed by the strong emphasis on ensuring that the work done and the electricity in the house were secure and complied with current regulations. Every aspect of the electricity was investigated and tested. Electricity is a mystery to many consumers and trust in a firm is important.

I used Keith Gunn to carry out an EICR. A previous contractor had failed my EICR but they couldn’t do the remedial work in time for when I needed it, which left me in a difficult spot. This is the second 5-yearly EICR that Keith Gunn Electrical Solutions have carried out in a flat that I own and rent out in Edinburgh. On this occasion, a fault was detected in part of the ring main circuit, for which a reasonably priced quote to find the cause and rectify it was accepted. The necessary works were carried out shortly afterwards and a new certificate of compliance issued - providing myself and my tenants greater peace of mind in terms of electrical safety. I find Keith Gunn's management and staff to be prompt, concise and polite in their communications, their services reasonably priced and they're happy to speak directly with tenants to help move matters forward. In my experience, they're a well-organised and professional company.

Our smoke alarms went off at just after 5pm one evening and would not switch off. There was no fire the problem was (according to Google) they needed new batteries, they are wired into the mains too so they weren’t going to stop. I tried to get into the battery compartments myself and failed. I phoned Keith Gunn electrical at 5.10pm and they had an engineer with us within 30 minutes who managed to replace the batteries and was kind enough to chat to my very upset 6 year old to explain what he was doing and it was fixed. Couldn’t fault anything about their service.

I had my EV charge point fitted by them yesterday. From start to finish they were friendly, professional and prompt. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to others.

We had an electrical fault in our home, and we had a number of electricians unsuccessfully attempt to address the fault. Keith Gunn Electrical Solutions were able to find the cause and make the necessary repairs, restoring our electricity. We were highly impressed with their professionalism and efficiency. I had a really great experience with Keith Gunn Ltd.

I moved into a flat with a ventilation unit/setup which was estimated by another company as costing £2,000.00 to repair/replace. This just wasn’t realistic for my budget and no other company in Edinburgh provided a quote or any solutions whatsoever due to the unique setup in the flat. Some companies cheekily offered a call out fee charge just to see the project, even though they front-loaded the conversation telling me they had no solutions in mind.

After speaking with a great staff member, Scott Virtue, and telling him about my headaches, we came to the ideal solution: replacing the unit system with an inline fan which would give me what I needed at a fraction of the price.

Thereafter, the company were very accommodating with last minute changes in my availability, and even more so when I managed to do some of the work prior to their attendance, whereby the quote was quickly altered to reflect what was needed/carried out.

Engineer who came to do 2 jobs, including repairing a fan, said it didn't need doing. When we noticed fan still not working, Keith Gunn tried to charge a second call out fee to come and do job original engineer was employed to do. We weren't happy. Keith Gunn would not budge on second call out fee so we ended up getting another electrician in to do the job which was done very efficiently ( and for half price Keith Gunn wanted). Extra item was charged for in invoice though this was corrected when this pointed out. I recognise the many good reviews here but would suggest people get other quotes, check invoices very carefully and prepare to go elsewhere when faults are not corrected.

The work carried out was done exactly as required, to a high standard & efficiently. It was done very soon after enquiry and with great communications from the team & excellent value for the service provided. Light fitting - excellent, trustworthy tradesman and service

Have have several things done since late last year:

• Garage electrics disconnected after rainwater had trickled into the part of the garage where the old socket and light switch are;
• Repaired outside junction facility for all the other outside lights; and installed two new automatic floodlights at prominent corners of the house to light up my driveway area in the dark (both of which work well);
• Fixed a number of inside light connections on the same trip switch as, and therefore affected by, the work on the outside lights and garage disconnection;
• Replaced several old lights in the house with new LED equivalents, including new chandeliers for the two main rooms downstairs, and two good new wall lights for the stairs/upstairs landing.
• Also have had a (brief) review done of all my existing wiring - and because of its age and its materials therein, a full rewiring is now recommended - and I aim to get that done as well later this summer.

A few items of work required revisits after the main work was completed - in both February and May 2022 - but everything covered by the recent repair/replacement jobs works fine now as I would expect.

There was a proper quote done before the job was confirmed, the electrician who came to do the job was clean and tidy, didn’t leave any holes or anything where he had to drill, and the whole half day job was completed with the minimum of fuss and disruption.

The operative was professional and diligent, undertook the task in a logical manner in an attempt to locate the fault, and whilst unable to fix the issue offered an informed recommendation for the way forward.

I recently arranged with Keith Gunn Electrical Solutions to change the bathroom light fittings from halogen to LED bulbs, and to install a switch in the hall for the bathroom lights, replacing a cord pull that failed every so often. They also needed to make a minor modification to the fusebox.

Their engineer arrived promptly at the stated time and did the work very neatly, efficiently and pleasantly. I was particularly pleased that putting in the switch led to minimal and barely noticeable disturbance to the wall above the switch in the hall, and nothing noticeable in the bathroom behind the wall.

The new lights and the switch are in good working order. I would certainly use KGES again for future electrical work.

I had a new integrated RF smoke/heat/carbon monoxide system installed plus 2 replacement kitchen lights and light flex in the bedroom. Everything was done very efficiently and quickly (in fact I was impressed with just how quickly the work was completed). The electrician was very polite, friendly and listened to what I was saying and checked everything was as I wanted. He also answered my questions and cleaned up after him. Very pleased with the service provided (I had used them previously for another small job) so would use them again and definitely recommend them to others.

We had a bit of a problem because the fitting we had bought from Ikea required a hook, which Ikea don't supply. KGES were really helpful in supplying the extra part and arranging to come back the following day to finish the work.

When I moved into my current home, I had Keith Gunn in to test the electrical system; remove old, redundant electrical items (like boxes and sensors from a burglar alarm system that no longer worked, and a plug point with an external cable running up from another plug point and stuck half-way up a wall); make safe some dodgy wiring in the attic; and to replace all the switches, plug sockets and lights, and the consumer unit (fusebox). Everyone I dealt with - the office staff, estimator and three electricians who carried out the work - was very pleasant, helpful and professional. The electricians were good-natured and dealt professionally with unexpected issues to do with the peculiar wiring already in the house. They worked hard to ensure the work was done in good time and tidied up after themselves. I've deleted the contact details I had for other electricians as I will have no hesitation in using Keith Gunn for all future electrical work.

When we were unable to buy replacement bulbs we contacted Keith Gunn, who we have used before, to advise. As the light fittings were more than 20 years old we decided to replace all the ceiling lights in the hall and the bathrooms. Keith Gunn kept us informed as to the install date and time. I've just used Keith Gunn Electrical Services (KGES) for the first time to install CAT6 cabling and add a new double mains socket in a small flat. I'd tried many other electricians in recent months to get this job done, but in the current circumstances was unable to find anyone able to do the work in anything like a reasonable time scale. I was very pleased and surprised when David at KGES told me that although they too are extremely busy, they would be able to take on smaller jobs like this as they specifically keep back some staff availability for small jobs and emergencies. So they were able to fit me in at short notice, even on exactly the date I wanted. David was also brilliant at discussing the job specification in great detail, and over the course of several emails was able to provide a quote without having to do a site visit. On the day Jack the electrician was really helpful and friendly in discussing the work and did a great job - the end result is exactly how I wanted it. I'm very impressed with the professionalism, efficiency, can-do attitude and friendliness of everyone I was in contact with. I would use KGES again for future electrical work and highly recommend them.

I have used Keith Gunn twice in the last few months. The first time was to replace a dimmer and switch which had been incorrectly installed by a previous electrician; the second was to install smoke detectors to make my flat compliant with new legislation. Each time I have been hugely impressed by the efficiency, responsiveness and organisation of the company, and the skill and neatness of the team of electricians who came. The dimmer turned out to be surprisingly fiddly and several repeat visits were needed for adjustments: the team were determined to get it right, and came out promptly and without complaint. I was so impressed I asked them back to do the work on the smoke detectors. Communication has been superb throughout and the company have been a pleasure to deal with. I'd recommend them without hesitation.

To comply with the up and upcoming change in legislation for integrated smoke alarms in our house, we contacted Keith Gunn Electrical Solutions for a quote.

The office staff were friendly, helpful and were able to provide a quote quickly.

An appointment was then arranged for the instal/replacement of smoke alarms the following week. The workmen arrived on time, were friendly, very presentable, respected our property and explained the work they were carrying out which was completed efficiently.

I organised a small job with KGES, which was partially completed though they have let me down with poor administration and customer service that ultimately wasted a lot of my time.

From my first contact with KGES, they had poor administrative skills, initially recording both my address and phone number incorrectly, which persisted throughout dealing with them, even though I continuously supplied them with my correct details. This resulted in the engineer even going to the wrong address.

The work that was done was of a decent quality, but they've wasted lots of my time and ultimately didn't finish the job.

Keith Gunn is a breath of fresh air amongst trades. It is a really well organised company. Phones are answered promptly. Quotes are sent promptly. You get an appointment promptly. The electricians turn up on time. They are courteous, knowlegable and, above all, very good at their job!

David came out to price up the job very quickly following my enquiry and then Calum came to do the job yesterday (15 Nov). I liked the fact that everyone at Keith Gunn got back to me quickly, turned up when planned and were friendly and helpful too - sadly this can be a rare thing these days. Overall a very positive experience for me and I am delighted with the work and would not hesitate to recommend the company to my friends and family.
