I recently used the services of Edinburgh Gardeners to do some emergency tree work.

They attended very quickly, discussed the proposed work and gave me a very reasonable quotation. The work was done promptly, professionally and efficiently. I found them very knowledgable and friendly.

We also discussed some other work that I am thinking of having done and they gave me some suggestions.

All-in-all very good service. I will happily use again.

Used to remove a large grey willow and to significantly prune back the remaining willow in our rear communal garden in a conservation area and to prune a crab apple at the front. What really impressed me was the friendly, quick and efficient support from Vikki in the office from our initial enquiry and site visit to assess the work and delivery of the quote to keeping us informed of the progress of the council's permission and getting a date in the diary to do the work which fitted in with my busy work diary. Harry, the main tree surgeon on the day was a joy to have on site both in terms of his really positive attitude and his technical skills . He not only answered any questions or concerns I had but also helped clear the communal areas before he started the tree work so that the debris could be removed from the back of the tenement with ease. The clear up of the rear garden at the end was excellent too. A professional set up worth the more expensive quote. My only slight criticism was that the second tree surgeon's overall attitude and tidy up from a small pruning job he did in the front garden didn't match that of his colleague.

We had a tree in our communal back garden which we had become huge and a bit unrully, we actually thought it might have to be taken down, but after a visit from one of team from Edinburgh Tree Surgeons we were delighted to find out that the tree just needed to be reduced in size and be properly pruned - the tree is now safer and looks amazing. The team were so efficient and friendly and I would recommend them.

My initial inquiry was dealt with very promptly and the work was work was carried out to a very high standard. It has made a big difference to my garden and I am very happy with the result. The team were great at talking through the options and left everything shipshape. At my request they left the chipped branches in a neat pile on my driveway and these are being used as an excellent mulch in the garden.

Excellent job -- fast, efficient, friendly, professional and very knowledgeable! We have an evergreen tree in our small backyard that was previously looming over our patio and our neighbour's garden. We didn't want to remove it, just cut it back quite significantly. I contacted Edinburgh Tree Surgeons and heard back from them very quickly, I believe the same day. They knew exactly what kind of tree it was and provided me with options for how to move forward, either pruning or taking it out. They provided a quote and scheduled the tree trim right away -- I only had to wait a week or so. I was very impressed that they also provided an educational video so that I could learn about how tree pruning works and how to preserve the health of the tree. They clearly know exactly what they're doing and how to do it well! I would definitely recommend working with them and the next time I need a tree trimmed, I know who to go to first.

We asked the team to cut back hard a very thick and reasonably high hedge that borders us and next door. They kept us informed of their approx arrival time given they had other jobs on in the surrounding area, and they carried out the work quickly and efficiently once they arrived. They answered any questions we had about our trees and whether they needed any attention too. After finishing they cleared up and removed all the cuttings. Very friendly and cheerful team.

Alan and his team were extremely knowledgeable, friendly and approachable. In addition to undertaking assessments and work to the trees, they provided excellent advice on what might be required in the future. Would highly recommend.

The team were punctual, efficient, knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with. They removed an old tree including stump grinding, trimmed others, dealt with all council paperwork, planted two new trees, and left the whole garden neat and tidy.
The attention to detail was impressive, eg shaping a large acer almost twig by twig, and making sure new trees were straight, mulched, and in exactly the right place.

This is the second time I have used Edinburgh Tree Surgeons. Both times they have done a brilliant job. This job was to re polard a Tulip tree . They arrived on time and the site was cleared very well. The cost was comparabe to other reputable tree surgoens and I would not hesitate in recommending them or to use them again.Thanks guys.

We have had trees pruned and large shrubs pruned and shaped for the past 3 autumns and have been delighted with the results.
The people who have done the work have been friendly and easy to deal with, and very knowledgeable. They have always consulted us on what we wanted and have given good advice. They remove all the prunings and leave the garden very tidy.

We have used Alan and his team on 3 or 4 occasions now. They are not the cheapest in town but they are very professional, totally reliable, are plant experts and do a great job. Recommend them unreservedly!

We used Edinburgh Tree Surgeons to help us remove an established Norway Spruce that was getting a bit out of control in a property we bought last year. The team were professional throughout the experience and gave us a good outline of costs and timelines upfront.

The communication was clear and excellent from the outset, with the added complication of the garden being in a conservation area. The team took care of all the issues around the planning application for a very reasonable price.

On the day, we were really impressed with the efficiency and professionalism of the team. The work was completed quickly and, given the ask to remove the roots without damaging the nearby patio, we’re very pleased with the results. Afterwards, they took good care to clear up after themselves which was absolutely an added bonus. Aside from the obvious absence of a big tree, we’d hardly know that the team had been in our garden. Would definitely use them again!

I had two overgrown “Christmas Trees” and a “Hollybush” Tree removed. Alan and the team were very efficient and professional in completing the work quickly and tidying up afterwards all for an agreed fair price. I would not hesitate to use them again.

A large tree was taken down efficiently, safely and with very little damage to plants. They were on time, tidy and courteous.

Opportune visit by Edinburgh Gardeners who assessed some self-sown trees we had concerns about and gave us a reduced quote for work on the day: removed substantial quantity of ivy from wall of property; removed imminently unsafe bows from self sown ash; removed cypress/leylandii which in the last 12 years had not been pruned and so blocked day light and at night, the street light, from the end portion of the garden. Arranged planning permission for further works. Identified structural problems with wall at rear of garden, due to poor maintenance of trees/ivy at that end, and advised another business who might be able to quote.

Friendly, safety conscious, patient (happy to explain things to lots of tenement neighbours who traipsed through), cheerful, hardworking, tidy.

Major work on a very old Oak tree which was shedding branches quite often and completely losing shape. After your extensive work was completed I, and my neighbours as well, were completely satisfied with the result.

Hard to judge value for money as I didn’t go for a second quote. Reason is they proved very good the first time I used them and I needed this work done while I was away so wanted someone I could trust to do what was need. And all done as per quotation !

Alan and his team removed a very tall, awkwardly placed self-seeded ash tree from our shared tenement back green which was growing perilously close to another residential property. Alan was extremely supportive, helpful and patient throughout, as we went through the lengthy process of gaining the necessary consents from those concerned.
The work was carried out to a very high standard. The team was highly professional, knowledgeable, skilled and efficient. All felled material was removed swiftly and the site left totally cleared and tidy.
This site, an enclosed tenement shared back green in the middle of Edinburgh, presents real challenges both for access and for parking, but Edinburgh Gardeners took it all in their stride. Communication from the initial enquiry right through was excellent, the quote extremely fair and standard of work very high. They did a fantastic job.

Ellie was very professional and I felt confident in her knowledge about the trees at my property. She went above and beyond the initial remit, spending plenty of time with me discussing different options. I received a prompt quotation which gave me practical advice and next steps for managing several trees. I would recommend the company and will be using them in due course for work needing done.

Pruning two trees, felling a large Rowan which sadly had died, and clearing up. I could not speak more highly of the service, excellent in every respect, went the extra mile, helpful, courteous, quick and efficient in every way.

Our next door neighbours had had a large tree removed and recommended Edinburgh Tree Surgeons to us. We had let our front garden trees - conifers that we had planted when we moved here 30 years ago - grow too big and into a sort of hedge. We also have a tall plum tree nearby which had expanded in all directions. Over the years we had trimmed all the trees ourselves but this year we decided it was time to seek professional horticultural advice on what would be best for the species of trees and the overall look of the garden. Alan came to chat to us ahead of the job, and we agreed that a significant amount of reduction of all three trees was essential. The two guys who came to do the job the next day were efficient, expert, H&S conscious and did the whole job in good time. All the cuttings (which included some chunky tree trunk pieces) were shredded on site and removed for reuse - clean and tidy. A great job! And the garden looks 100% better now too.

Edinburgh Tree Surgeons pruned a fairly out-of-shape tree and removed two old shrubs in my back garden. From first contact to quote and scheduling the work, to execution it was very efficient, excellent value for money and high quality. Could not have wished for a better job to be done and planning to commission some further work shortly.

Cleared out 2 beds of azaleas, trimming rhododendron bushes and 2 other bushes, neighbour's hedge between gardens, 2 trees (weigela and lilac) darkening our bathroom window. All excellently done.

I contacted Alan to remove a tree from our garden. He was great and easy to deal with and provided a very competitive quote. He advised what time his team (Barry and Cliff) would arrive and they were prompt, personable and very professional. We were delighted with the work they did, taking care to not damage surrounding bushes and also went the extra mile by cutting up some of the tree for firewood. We had a great experience and would definitely recommend Alan and his team.

Alan and his team have taken a very complex and tricky tree felling operation for me on behalf of a communal stair.
The trees in question were a strip of conifers about 30 metres long and about 80 foot high.
They were road side which made the job even more complex however his team have done a marvellous job in section felling them down and shredding and removing all the light weight bulky material.
Where I am very impressed with Alans service is he is very flexible in his approach and worked along with us. He section cut all the barrels of the trees which allowed us to dispose of them on gumtree and other sources which saved us huge sums of money.
As it was such a difficult project to estimate we worked on a daywork basis which helped us both through the project.
Delighted with Alan and his team and I look forward to working with him again.

I had a large tree that badly needed drastic pruning - not something I could have done myself and way beyond a "man with a saw". Alan and his friendly team were thorough, diligent, did exactly what I wanted and cleaned up afterwards. Really pleased with the results and would highly recommend.

Contacted the company for a quote and then supplied details of required work including photos. I was given an initial verbal estimate which was then increased by the end of the conversation. A date was made for the work and on the morning I was contacted to confirm time and was asked what price had been quoted. I advised the quote given. On arrival the first comment was that the job wasn’t as big as first thought - but the price was increased again! The cost may well have been competitive but I did not appreciate receiving three increasing quotes. I advised contractor that I was unhappy with this way of working and revised costs and basically received a shrug of shoulders and his rapid departure. Very casual way of working and not one I would recommend although appeared to be a pleasant individual.

All my hedges were extremely overgrown but the guys cut them down, removed all the debris and left the garden very tidy. They did exactly as I asked and worked extremely hard. They were very efficient, polite and helpful. I would certainly use this company again and would have no hesitation in recommending them to others.
