Danny diagnosed a very annoying problem I had with a noisy toilet flush valve and replaced it between Christmas and New Year. Really appreciate the professional help at a busy time of the year. Will be asking Danny to do a boiler service and flush the heating system in the spring.

As first time home owners, we had absolutely no clue what to do with the boiler in our flat. The engineer who visited us was honest, warm and unpatronising- he showed us how the heating system worked, and even re-soldered a pipe that had been installed incorrectly by the previous owners. He educated us and offered honest advice so we could make an informed decision about replacing our boiler, when he could easily have taken advantage of our inexperience! These guys are absolutely fantastic!

Danny was really helpful and accommodated an out of hours call to a very cold house! Very knowledgeable and methodical fault finding led to an excellent result, and put my mind at rest with a service on the boiler. Boiler Install.
After a breakdown with our old central heating system, Thomas came the next day to assess the job, following day I received quotation and from the 3 other quotes we received he was the best on price, quality product offered, timely, most knowledgeable during discussion and kept in contact from start to finish.
Their workmanship is fantastic, efficient and very tidy as well as being incredibly friendly.
We will be contacting them again to undertake all our annual servicing and any other work that we need completed.
I have no hesitations in recommending them.

We bought a house with underfloor heating and radiators which just were not functioning properly. Several engineers had tried and failed to sort the problems and by the time I contacted Calescent Gas and Heating I had consigned myself to replacing a relatively new boiler. Thomas not only saved me the cost of a new boiler but was willing to patiently explain what exactly the problems were and how he was sorting them. I decided then, having seen the quality of his work, to ask him to install the smart heating control system “Hive”. Again he explained the everything and fitted it perfectly at a very good price.
I now understand the whole system and it works perfectly.
My wife and I are delighted with the work Thomas has done for us and would absolutely trust and recommend him as a 1st class engineer and a lovely guy.

Previous review left in August 2021 for old boiler repair, now had new Vaillant boiler fitted with Hive thermostat and new vertical radiator in kitchen. There was a lot of work around this to install pipework appropriately, install new flue, drill a new core hole and seal the old one (cherry picker arranged to access 2nd floor flat). All was completed whilst my kitchen was refurbished and Danny liaised with the kitchen fitter to make sure everything happened at the right time. I am very happy with the work and as before Danny was good at explaining what was required. The overall service from Calescent was brilliant, right down to registering the boiler warranty. I have no hesitation recommending this company and will use them again when I get some radiators updated/ repositioned. Thanks very much Danny and all at Calescent.

We recently replaced our boiler with Calescent and we’d highly recommend them to anyone. The whole service was made really easy for us from start to finish and we’re so pleased with our new boiler.

We arranged for Danny to come to our home and talk us through our options, he gave us all the information to decide what was best for us and made us feel comfortable to ask as many questions as we wanted.

When the boiler was being installed, Danny let us know well in advance when he would be arriving and what the process would be like, as well as how long it would take.

We have a baby so it was great to know what was going to happen so that I could plan ahead. He even took this into account and made sure we had access to our kitchen for as much of the day as possible.

His estimates for timescales and pricing were always accurate and he was always happy for us to get in touch if there were any changes or if we had follow-up questions. The quality of the work is excellent and our home was left neat and tidy at the end of both days.

Brilliant, amazing and very rare experience I had with Thomas.
When I called Calescent for the first time, luckily Thomas answered my call. Thomas assisted me with lot of patience on whatsapp video call to find out the gas pipe in kitchen which was not there. Have got the reasonable quote and all work carried out like setting up gas pipe into the kitchen and setting up gas hob. You dont find these kind of experience now a days. Very friendly, reasonable price, very high standard quality of work, prompt replies to calls etc. After completion of work, later a week I found some other issue in my home and called Thomas on Sunday where he Immediately came to my home and fixed the issue for free of cost. He have to travel more than 2 hours to reach my home that too on Sunday. Such a sweet and nice person. Warranty for 12 months for the work they have carried out, what else I want. Superb work by Thomas and his crew. Not the cheapest quote we had, but we were impressed by the professional attention to detail and the fact that the quote contained a lot of specifics, which made us feel there were unlikely to be any unanticipated 'added extras' added down the line.

Removed an old boiler (inefficient, frequently broke down and no longer within current ventilation standards) and replaced with combi boiler. Removed hot water tank. Installed smart thermostatic control unit.

I had been concerned that I might not be able to get a decent hot bath following the removal of the hot water tank, but Thomas listened to my concerns and demonstrated to me the steps he'd taken to ensure I had the best chance possible, within the inherent limits of my building's existing plumbing. Pleased to report that I can fill a toasty hot bath in good time and no risk of the hot water running out part way.

Thomas, Danny and the team were consummate professionals. They all really understood how threatening their presence was to my two year old, and reacted appropriately, engaging with her (chatting about sloths and curly hair and other topics important to toddlers) and ensuring that the environment was as safe as possible (e.g. comprehensive tidy up when they went home on the first evening).

Left the flat clean and tidy. A real pleasure to have in the house.

Had a new boiler fitted. Old one removed from a tricky location. Had a hard time making the decision of where to put the new one. Great service from start to finish. The boiler would not go of and was making a lot of noise. Danny checked the boiler and then both the heating and hot water systems but they were all working. Although he suspected what was wrong he could not prove it. After some thought he came back and isolated the problem which unfortunately was under a tiled floor. Once diagnosed he quickly corrected the problem but also re positioned the valve so it is now accessible in the future.

It has been easy for us as he has advised us all through the process. The work was done to a high standard in a friendly and efficient way and I would highly recommend the company.

Danny came round the day after I got in touch, which was amazingly quick! We've purchased a tenement flat, and were looking for someone to come and rip out the dodgy fireplace and disconnect the gas pipe. He did a super job, and was in and out much quicker than we expected. Excellent communication as well - we had a phone call & exchanged a few Whatsapp messages with pictures of the fire place the day before to set the scene. 100% would both use Calescent again and recommend them!

Danny and Thomas converted our heating and hot water system and installed a new combi boiler for us. They came in advance to prepare the dated system for the install, and then re-plumbed and installed a new combi boiler for us. Pipework was very neat and well laid out, they worked efficiently and set up our system in a day. They provided one of the best prices in the market and were very prompt in getting in touch and keeping us updated with what was happening. They cleared up all the waste materials and left no mess behind at all, including work conducted in the loft. Highly recommend them and will use them again in the future for servicing and any other works.

Danny serviced our boiler and did a great job. We had a drip that he fixed, too. Really fast service (came the day after phoning) and was friendly and thorough. Will definitely use them again next year.

I have called Thomas and the team on many occasions for boiler issues (I have a very old boiler) and they are so accommodating and will try and squeeze in last minute call outs wherever possible. They are great at their jobs, they are friendly, polite and also wear shoe coverings in the house which is a lovely touch! I cannot fault their service in any way and would only use this company for all my boiler or gas appliances!

I called on a Monday morning with what we thought was a drip coming from the boiler, Danny came round the next day to have a look. Turns out the boiler was fine but Danny was very thorough and checked everything was running okay. We did however we did have some leaking taps, which he fixed, much to my delight. Friendly, speedy service and excellent communication. I'd definitely recommend them!

Very reliable, contact was very quick after initial message. Phoned to say he was coming and tidied up work from a previous tradesman, very nice and helped and explained everything we needed to know about our new product. We have arranged for him to come back to service our gas appliances and boiler.

I contacted Calescent at short notice after my boiler developed an issue and my boiler care provider couldn't get anyone out to me. Thomas came out within the hour, identified the problem and got the heating back up and running for me really quickly. We contacted Calescent for a full central heating installation which included the removable of an old Warm Air Heating System and water heater. They were able to complete the job within the first two days of us moving in which enabled us to have all rooms re-floored and carpeted immediately which really helped get us settled in! Very competitive pricing for the whole job and super helpful on all aspects of planning positioning for new radiators & boiler. On the job, both were very friendly and efficient and even though the house we a bit like a building site from other work being carried out, they cleaned up after themselves at the end of both days work.

I could not recommend Tom and Dan more. I had two problems with my boiler and both times they came out on the same day. They were tidy, polite and punctual. New tap fitted, but he tried to find a washer first of all for our odd shaped old tap in order to try to keep the price down. Friendly & pleasant he explained what he was doing & why and then tidied up before leaving. Would definitely use again.

Our central heating boiler was not working after workmen altered the electrics when having a new kitchen installed. Tam came out twice on very short notice to fix this. The service was excellent and I would recommend this firm to anyone.

I just want to say how happy I am with the service provided by these guys. I originally contacted them to fit my gas cooker, they were able to squeeze me in 2 days after contacting them. I was charged exactly what I was quoted. Very friendly guys! I text Thomas a few weeks after my initial appointment as I needed some advice about my boiler. Instead of charging me a call out fee he told me over the phone exactly what I needed to do and sent me a photo of the product I needed. Thomas & Danny worked diligently, hard & effectively over a period of 3 days to do a full install on my 18c built flat. They encountered several unexpected issues during the install, but were able to resolve them in a timely manner. Very helpful in explaining the requirements before the install & very satisfied with the invoice too. Happy to recommend & will make use of their offer for the regular service of the new boiler. I'll try & make sure there are some chocolate digestives for the boiler service.

My partner and I had a problem with our carbon monoxide alarm, it was going off constantly throughout the day/night and we were unsure as to why this was. Panicking, we got in contact with Thomas and he arrived immediately.

Had two leaks in our toilet fixed, cannot praise Thomas highly enough. He was friendly & Professional & answered any questions we had quickly & clearly.

Contacted Thomas to service a combi-boiler and fix a small leak. He was friendly and professional at every stage. Excellent communication arranging a time. Work carried out to a high standard. Calescent Services carried out an outstanding project on our new bathroom from start to finish. Always cleaned up, made us aware of any snagging and that was dealt with professionally. Above all their enthusiasm for the project was great to see.

Thomas installed a vertical radiator in my kitchen after first removing the old one.
The new radiator was installed in a new location, so this required some moving of pipework, and under floor access.
Although the job wasn't as plain sailing as originally envisaged and involved additional work, Thomas made a very professional job of the finish, and his customer service was always very helpful, courteous and prompt.

I would highly recommend this trader, He came when he said he would, gave suggestions to allow me to get exactly what I was looking for . I was very happy with the finished product and he was very tidy when undertaking his work.

I used this business to service my boiler, Tam was very professional and helpful. Communication was great with quick responses. Turned up on time and was tidy, proficient and professional. Will be using this business in future and will be my first stop for plumbing, etc. I have already recommended to a friend who has since recommended him to another person. Highly recommended.

Our last boiler broke down on Hogmanay and Thomas came to look at it on the 2nd January, and installed a new one for us on the 3rd. He did a fantastic job and we were so pleased with everything. I would highly recommend. Nothing was too much trouble and we were given really helpful information and options to consider throughout. We will definitely use again for annual servicing.

Great job done by a man who obviously has lots of experience. I called previous evening and Thomas was round following morning, he had all parts required on hand to get my boiler up and running smoothly in less than an hr, still running smoothly a week later. Previously I had called out the Edinburgh boiler company who got it working for 1hr and did no checks, they said I needed a new boiler as replacement part was hard to source, this was not the case and Thomas got my boiler running for less than 10% of the cost of a new boiler. Top man and great at his job, highly recommend over any company and will be using for my future jobs.

Calescent undertook a full boiler and radiator installation for us. From quote to completion it was absolutely seemless. We liked how Tommy communicated with us at all stages what he was doing and why and also that he advised us on what was best for us and not necessarily what was the most expensive option, that was refreshing. Immaculate work in what can be a messy business. Our new system is superb and excatly what we needed. It was really how it should be - professionalism, a pride in the work and a complete gent with me and my family, I can't recommend high enough. *note* Calescent can also navigate a 3 year olds relentless questions whithout appearing to slow down production. No mean feat!

Thomas replaced our ensuite Mira Sport shower, fixed a leaky outdoor tap and broken pop up bath plug. He was very professional, friendly, organised and communication was excellent throughout. When we had to reschedule our appointment for another day, he was very understanding and was able to accommodate this request. We would certainly use him again and recommend him to neighbours and friends.

Tommy fixed our boiler for a good price, was efficient and good value . Another company told us we needed a whole new boiler but they were just trying to rip us off , Tommy fixed it no bother and has been working great ever since .
Also we called him again and he fixed the toilet . He was again very efficient , quick to respond and had the toilet up and working in no time. We will use His service every time we can I would say

Problem was assessed very quickly and confirmation given that repair would be completed.Left to work,the job was completed with no problems.

Thomas did a couple of jobs for us and we are very happy with the work, the cost and Thomas's communication and reliability. The first job was to diagnose fault with heating not always coming on then to supply and fit new Thermostat. The second job was to fix a sluggish boiler which meant the water was never really hot. Thomas cleaned boiler, supplied and fitted a couple of parts and the result piping hot water.

I needed a gas central heating pump replaced and then, not long after, a new circuit board.
I was extremely fortunate to find Thomas Nimmo by searching for a gas engineer online.
He is easy to talk to and was very reassuring about what was wrong with my heatng system. I live alone and Thomas was a pleasure to have in my home and spent time (which I was not charged for) making sure that there was no alternative to costly repairs. I inherited my gas central heating when I bought my flat and I know it was not easy to fix. I was dreading my bills as both jobs were complicated and very time consuming and frustrating. However, Thomas just charged me for the parts and a fraction of the true cost of his labour. I was so lucky to find him and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone wanting a great gas engineer or plumber.

Investigation and rectification of central heating system problem and supply and fitting of a new radiator. Nothing was too much trouble for Thomas who was pleasant and friendly as well as efficient and he was insistent on sticking to his quoted price despite considerable time required to overcome below floor access difficulties due to the nature of our house .
